It's been a year since Dr. Son maimed me and I'm sorry I waited so long to post here because if my review can prevent one person from going through what I did then it's worth it. I found this dentist through DentiCal, they were new but had a few decent reviews, figured I'd try them out over Western Dental. I went for my yearly routine cleaning and Dr. Son told me two of my older fillings in my back two molars on the right side, 30 and 31, needed to be redone . Naively trusting I agreed to let him replace them which started me out the most painful months long dental journey of my life. As soon as I left and the numbing wore off I started to get shooting pains in the second from back molar when I tried to chew. I called after a few days went by and the pain didn't let up and they had me come back in, took some x-rays and said I could either wait and see if it got better or Dr. Son could do a root canal. My better judgement finally kicked in and I said I'd wait and I made an appointment at another dentist where I would have to pay out of pocket but with good reviews and reputation. I went to Freedom dentist in Fairfield and after looking at the X-ray Dr. Son had took and emailed over which I will attach and you will clearly see the gaping hole in my tooth that left a nerve exposed which was causing me all the pain my new dentist assured me she could open the tooth up and redo the filling and hopefully save the tooth. She did and the pain disappeared, the relief from it was staggering. But that was not the end or even the worst of the pain I would experience. I will also attach a screenshot of an email I sent to Freedom dentistry when the farthest back molar that Dr. Son had worked on started to pain me immediately after the pain from the first tooth was dealt with. If you've never had dental or tooth pain that it may be hard to imagine or empathize, but it is truly agony. Chewing, talking, drinking hot or cold, at one point even the air that passed over the back molar was unbearable and I'm not a wimp so I want you to understand when I say this it's not hyperbole. This was truly the most pain I'd ever been in and it was agony. This is because the farthest back molar Dr. Son worked on was dying and had developed an infection causing my jaw up into my ear severe pain. I had to go back to Freedom dentist and they gave me a prescription to bring to kaiser for antibiotics and some pain pills. When they tried to have me bite down on some bite paper to see if the tooth was too high and maybe that was what was causing my pain I started sobbing in the chair from pain. I don't think I've ever cried in public before this moment. At this point the tooth was already dead and it was the infection causing the pain so it was time for a root canal. I went to River Delta Dental for this because they had an immediate availability and I wanted the pain to end. They opened up my back molar and scraped out the infection and rotten stuff inside and I could finally return to a normal life without constant deep, throbbing, stabbing pain.
However for serval months now the second from the back molar has extreme cold sensitivity and because of all the work done to it is likely in need of a crown of it's own but I live with it because of how expensive it would be to fix.
All in all the multiple visits to multiple dentists, redoing the filling and root canal cost me upwards of $4,000 dollar out of pocket. This of course is a devestating a amount of money for almost any one and the fact that all this happened because of what Dr. Son did to me has been burdening me this whole year. I'm angry and I feel it's justified, if maybe only one of the teeth had had issues I would have written it off but the fact that they both did, and one of my teeth ended up DEAD in my mouth after this guy messed with it leads me to believe he is dangerously incompetent. I implore you to seek dental care elsewhere. read more
