Unfortunately, my recent experience was disappointing due to billing/insurance. Prior to my most recent visits, I would call to make an appointment and no one would answer, I finally left a voicemail and the call was returned days later. During my last visit for a cleaning, I scheduled a major procedure for the following weeks and specifically requested that a copy of the cost estimate be emailed to me. The email was never sent. I later received a text to confirm the upcoming appointment and replied asking for someone to call me. No one did. I then called the office myself and left a message. When my call was eventually returned, I again asked about the estimate and clearly requested that it be emailed to me. I still never received it, it was only verbally provided. After switching insurance plans, I discovered that Dr. Ocampo is no longer in-network with my current insurance, which explained the very high estimate I was quoted. I compared costs with in-network providers and found a significant difference. Had I not followed up on my own and requested the estimate, I could have unknowingly paid a large out-of-network cost. I called back to confirm and was extremely disappointed in the woman's response and tone. While I continue to have the utmost respect for Dr. Ocampo, the lack of communication and follow-through regarding billing and insurance information is concerning. I rely on transparency and this completely fell short of my experience.

I arrived within that window (right around 14 minutes late) and immediately apologized to both the front desk staff and the dental hygienist. Unfortunately, instead of acknowledging the apology and moving forward, the hygienist repeatedly focused on my tardiness. She made comments about how it would "put a damper" on the appointment and continued to bring it up even after I had already taken accountability. The tone felt unwelcoming and, at times, unnecessarily reprimanding. Dental visits already put patients in a vulnerable position, and the last thing you want is to feel uncomfortable with the person providing care. Because of this, I ultimately chose to reschedule the cleaning and step away from that interaction. That said, I did keep my 9:00 AM appointment with the dentist, and that portion of my visit was very pleasant. I was also seen by Alex Howard, who is an absolute gem--always kind, down to earth, and warm. My experiences with her have consistently been positive, which made the earlier interaction stand out even more. I understand the importance of staying on schedule, but once a patient communicates and apologizes, there's no need to continue addressing it in a way that feels excessive. A more professional and solution-oriented approach would have made all the difference. Overall, while parts of my experience were great, others left a lot to be desired.

Liz and Linda are amazing and I love listening to their banter back and forth with Dr J. Recently I broke the front off of one of my front teeth on a Saturday and he arranged to meet me the next morning to do a temporary thing so that I didn't have to go to church with a big gap when I talked or smiled.
