Nursing homes are never a fun place to go, in my opinion. I have never liked going to them since I…read morewas a child because they just exude so much sadness, and "the end is near" resonates in my head as I cross over into that threshold. When I heard the news that my grandpa was being transferred to this nursing home from the hospital my heart sank. I didn't wan to go. Hospitals are bad enough, but nursing homes...ugh. Not to get too much into my personal life, but my grandpa is there because he needs to have physical therapy after a mini stroke. I honestly didn't know nursing homes offered such services, and I decided to go and see what this was all about. As I pulled into the parking lot of the nursing home, my stomach knotted up and my heart started to beat a little faster. Old images of preconceived ideas shot up as old memories thrust themselves forward and I was dreading it. I gathered my wits, and walked into the lobby. The receptionist must be used to the regulars that come in because she didn't offer to help me, and didn't require me to sign in. I asked her where to go, and she gave me a vague idea after I walked through the double doors. Once I walked in to the main section, I have to admit I was a bit surprised. The halls were well lit, and ironic as it sounds, the place didn't smell of the traditional nursing homes that I remember from the past. There were some people sitting in the halls, but the majority of them were smiling and seemed happy, and well taken care of. When I got down to the physical therapy section to see my grandpa, I was surprised to see a chorus going, and the halls were swelling with beautiful and happy voices singing songs that I'm sure invoked many memories of youth. In the physical therapy ward I was even more pleased when I saw the staff and how they treated the people. They knew each one by name, and treated them all with kid gloves, while still being encouraging enough to get them to do their therapy. It made me feel so much better, and I'm so glad that I actually went down there to see this place. The people weren't just wandering around looking lost, and every chair and bed had an alarm on it in case that resident got up or fell at any time. When it comes to nursing homes, this one definitely seems to be high on the list and has definitely changed my stereotypical view of these places. Keep up the great work Tri-County Extended Care, and thank you for putting me a little more at ease.

He's having such a good time, we are hoping he will want to stay. The place is clean and bright. People are friendly. He is involved and making new friends. They contact me if they have a question. They do not allow any camera monitoring in rooms?? Why? Because they don't want the truth to get out about the abuse and lack of care from staff. Urine filled briefs left on floor of dementia patients rooms, feces on floor and refused to clean up, lost belongings, residents spoken down to and belittled for having to use personal items intended for children. Residents yelled at by restaurant staff. Refused food. Food not given. Management staff refusing to respond to family emails and voice mails. Residents accused of things that aren't true. Lying about residents and family members. Twisting and lying when families are told things. Terrible facility director. Nick D'Erminio. Puts on a happy face but when concerns are made but is a professional gaslighter and manipulative behavior on his end. Blames and shames residents and family members instead of his own incompetence. Very condescending and belittling! Assisting living nurse manager incompetent. Untrained, uneducated, and uncaring staff. Was told the very first day, by an aide, that we should hire private care for family member if we want good care. Direct debited over $2000 out of bank account without authorization and over charges without even an apology. So technically stealing from family members. Refuse to recognize family medical doctor ordered POA status. Again, great location, pretty place, all shiny on the outside but a mess on the inside. No wonder place is still half empty two years after being open. Run!!!!!! You get what you pay for.

Her purpose as to stay with my husband so I could go to my doctor's appointment. After the shower caper I didn't feel it was safe to leave her in charge. I contacted my daughter to complain, she took off work to come sit with them both while I was gone. She said she didn't bring gloves so I to provide them! She never laid hands on my husband. She was scheduled for 3 hours. Also, asked for coffee before I left! But I only have decafe and she said she doesn't drink decafe. Pffft! My daughter arrived and the visiting angel left shortly after I did, when I explained to her my daughter was only visiting. I called and reported her behavior and that she was no help at all. My daughter stayed until I returned. I called the office and complained that she was there for 1 hour and 15 minutes. They still charged for 3 hours!!!!! A few months later I called them again because I was headed for surgery and my family could not cover all the day time hours. So 3 hours a day would work to cover the hours. WELL GUESS WHAT????? They sent the same girl! My daughter remembered her and told her to go back to her office. GUESS WHAT?? they still wanted me to pay for that 3 hours that she didn't help us. Done with them.

After surgery she went to a nursing home for rehabilitation for about 6 weeks. The care that my grandmother was provided in the nursing home was absolutely horrible!!! I decided to bring my grandmother home however; it would require a lot of assistance. My grandmother was placed in Hospice. Hospice was phenomenal but they only came two times a week. They only stayed about one hour or so. It was not long before I realized that I needed a lot more assistance. I decided to try Visiting Angels. They were a lifesaver I was assigned an excellent care. She truly cared about my grandmother. The caregiver came whenever I needed her. She treated my grandmother as if it was her grandmother. My grandmother passed when she was 101 years old.
