Manus Dental is a special place in the medical industry: an office that devotes extra time and care to patients who need it. I had gone to a different dentist in the past and had bad experiences. When trying to do work on my lower teeth, I couldn't get numb. They didn't offer other methods, and I was forced to sit through a procedure while still feeling pain. As a result, I became a nervous dental patient. I didn't think that I could get numb for dental work! Luckily, Manus Dental is the perfect place for nervous patients like me. I came in sheepishly and told them the story above, that I was nervous, and that I hadn't gone to the dentist for a while because of the nerves. Dr. Obaisi and the many others that I interacted with at the office were incredibly accommodating; I have never seen such patience and care in a medical setting. First, they were clear with me every step of the way what my options were: how they were going to find a numbing medication that worked for me (they found one!), what options I had to reduce my nerves (anxiety medication, laughing gas, etc.), and what they were doing moment by moment so I knew how to prepare ("we're going to start drilling here, just tell us if you feel anything). Throughout the entire procedure I felt like I was in control, that they weren't rushing me or pressuring me to go through the procedures faster than I was comfortable. This bedside manner was complimented by the skill of Dr. Obaisi and her staff. It turned out that the numbing wore off on me pretty quickly. So, when they got me numb and confirmed that I wasn't feeling anything, they were extremely fast with their work. Everything was quick, incredibly precise, and professional. Dr. Obaisi knew when to be gentle and make sure that I was ok and when to shift into high gear to drill away the decay on my teeth. As a result, my dental work was fast and painless. Every time I entered the Manus Dental office, everyone took care to make me feel comfortable. They really went the extra mile to ask how I was feeling and to make sure that I wasn't afraid. That was true for the front desk staff, dental assistants, and Dr. Obaisi herself. I'm happy to say that I'm no longer a nervous patient thanks to their hard work. I cannot recommend this dental office enough. They offer high quality dental work with an extremely high level of professionalism and care. Every employee that I had the pleasure to talk to was kind and accommodating. Please consider them for your dental work in the future. For anyone at Manus Dental who is reading this, thank you for fixing my teeth. I was so scared to come in at the beginning, but thanks to how good all of you are at your jobs, I'm not scared of the dentist anymore. I'm so lucky to have found you! Asked specifically about the length and timing of treatment, the person at the front who scheduled it said it would be fine. Spent 45 minutes at the appointment only to be told they can't provide the service. Staff was incredibly rude, and rather than apologize for HER scheduling error, she doubled down on "well, I'm not a doctor." I immediately requested our records and we will never go back to them. I have never had such a horrible customer service experience. The dentist and orthodontist were fine. But the staff in this office were horrible to interact with. read more

When I went there to get evaluated for braces they took out a huge x ray and x rayed me 5 times because the first four times they screwed it up. Their excuse, " I'm sorry we haven't used this thing in forever" they brought in like 5 people to figure it out and I was waiting there forever. read more

Avoid like the plague, this is one of the shadiest places I've ever been to. They have the worst business side ever and the dentists aren't good enough to make it worth the hassle. They sent me to collections after months of back and forth where all I wanted was a bill so I could verify what services I was paying for. After giving them my address multiple times I *still* received a call from a collections agency even though I have not received a single bill from this office. read more

My last visit there was very pleasant. All of the staff I in countered on my 1st visit was friendly & nice & very informative of all my questions. The welcome I received was great.I recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a dentist in all fields. I give them 4 thumbs up!! read more

This is the place to go if you need to have any oral hygiene done. The ladies there are amazing. Anything more than that, is an expensive pain. I have never been to this office and only had the procedure I was told I needed. One thing has always turns into something else. My last visit, I had an appointment ahead of time and my daughter needed a tooth extraction. I was told by the receptionist that she could add my daughter to my appointment for a consult. We had x-rays from my daughter's orthodontist for the tooth extraction, but still needed more x-rays and then we waited some more. When the dentist came in he spent about 10 mins telling us about how beneficial it would be to have my daughters wisdom teeth removed along with this impacted tooth, that he was not able to remove. We got a referral to got to an oral surgeon. I was moved to another room with the idea that I would have my crown lengthening done (as was on the schedule) and waited more. When the dentist came back in, he began to tell me about wisdom teeth I need to have removed (mind you neither myself or my daughter are having issues with our wisdom teeth). When he finished, I was told I could make an appointment for my crown lengthening. I had already done that. This was suppose to be that appointment, that I had taken a half a day off work for. The assistant told me the dentist did not have anymore time to see me and do that procedure. This was my 2nd "consult" with nothing done and was charged. My experiences with this office, not just this one is that listening to the patient is not much of a priority. The focus is to have as many procedures done at any cost and no real planning and consideration to the patient and their capabilities. I could tell 2 more messy expensive stories but I will just limit this to the last thing that ticked me off. And now we have to go to another office to do the procedures and have more "consults" for what this office could not due but still will charge for. read more

This place tried to rip me off while I was having an emergency. I went because I was having excruciating pain on one side of my mouth and they were in my neighborhood and I needed to get some treatment fast. The dentist told me I was grinding my teeth at night, and that was causing the pain. I couldn't believe the pain would be so bad from just grinding teeth, but she assured me and said I needed to buy a $500 bite plate from her. They also took a bunch of x-rays. The dentist wasn't sure, but it looked like there was an infection in one of my teeth. She consulted someone else who said, "yes that is an infection." But rather than get me the treatment I needed right away, she scheduled me for an appointment at another office for two days later. Overnight my face swelled up and the pain was worse than child birth. Panicked I called her at 5am the next morning. She was very kind and refereed me to a surgeon who did a root canal (when they actually should have just pulled the tooth, but that is a different story). Yes they were very nice and made me feel comfortable while I was there. But I can't believe they couldn't see how bad the situation was. Maybe it was because the dentist was blinded by the prospect of selling me a $500 treatment I didn't need (which they said was a deal, by the way). I still get calls from them telling me I "need" to come in to get this bite plate for a problem I don't even have - at least according to other dentists. Maybe this place is good for simple things, but I would not trust them with any serious issues. read more

I thought maybe the Yelp reviews were ridiculously harsh. Turns out I was wrong. They wouldn't even give me a regular cleaning which is all I had asked for when I scheduled the appointment! They were only willing to do a "deep cleaning" which is hundreds of dollars more. read more

My son had braces here and its run by a large company and they are terrible

Came for my toddler's first dental appointment here with Dr. Morin. He was very friendly and gentle and didn't mind that my toddler wasn't exactly cooperating :). For this first appointment he did an exam, a quick cleaning & floss, & a fluoride treatment --- followed by a pair of tooth-shaped toy sunglasses which were a big hit. He gave me a lot of info and was not rushed at all. The people at front desk were very helpful too. read more

My five year old daughter and I both love our dentists at this location (Dr. Rudolph and Dr. Morin). They are kind, friendly, and professional. We have been going there since 2005 and have NEVER had to wait for more than two minutes in the waiting room after our appointment time. The admin and assistant staff is exceedingly friendly and helpful which to me is just as important. Dr. Rudolph fixed a problem I had with one of my teeth that was quite expensive and didn't charge me. Her reason was to keep up a high level of service and ethics for those in her profession. This office does care about people and their health. I'm always impressed. read more

Although I had a very enjoyable visit, procedures are extremely expensive.... simple exam and cleaning cost $342. I wouldn't be as pissed as I am if I didn't get letters from my insurance company saying "exceeds maximum allowable amount for this procedure." Find reasonable dental care elsewhere. read more

I went to this office after being very underimpressed by another hyde park dental office. The recption I got was A+. The staff is very professional and is willing to explain treatment plans and insurance coverage with you. again A+ My biggest complaint is the sceduling. I have been rescheduled twice (both with proper phone calls) and had to wait 30minutes before seeing the dentist. Is the wait worth it? only time will tell. read more

Don't use them if you think your expenses will be reimbursed by your flex plan, Their billing is a mess. Today I will go there in person - they have not submitted the proper paperwork and we stand to lose $474 that we paid for a crown. I am concerned that because they received payment from us for 1/3 the job, they aren't worried about getting paid by Delta Dental. read more

NOTTTT. stay away from here. Waste of time. After waiting 2hr for my appointment today finally Dr came to see me for 5 min and she informed me that she is running behind because I made emergency appointment (which I didn't) and charged me $100 to tell me that I have a broken tooth which I already knew. Worse dental place I have ever seen. Unprofessional staff. read more

First they screwed up the time of the appointment. Then they didn't tell me how much the consultation will cost before executing it. If they tell me, I am probably not gonna have it cuz the so called consultation is just, "nope, we can't do anything before you do a full exam here." Lastly, when looking at the break down of the balance and the coverage of the insurance, some staff at the front desk was just rude. I quote, "Even if you just walked in and the doctor looked into your mouth, you still need to pay. You pay for the doctors expertise." said with this unhappy, arrogant and "expertise" face. Well I know dentist will cost a lot but I don't want to be lectured while I'm paying okay? I learned my lesson. Maybe the staff needs a lesson on how to be nice to the customer too. After all, your salary comes from them and they deserve at least a good attitude. If you don't know that, why are you in customer service? Be a queen to yourself, not to your customer. read more

Dr Rudolph is nice and professional, but I will never go back to her place again. Last time i went to there, she recommended a specialist(actually the specialist was working at her place one-twice/week. can't remember exactly). He told me that i need to pull 4 tooth out and implant new ones. I said no. He seemed unhappy and said "well, eventuallay you will lose your teeth". I run away and paid 60 for consultation. since that i never came back to Dr rudoplh place again. her stuff called my several times, I never picked up the calls. Now i am seeing other dentist at hyde park. I am never asked to pull out my teeth again. read more

Both my husband and I have been patients at Manus Dental Hyde Park for years. I've been so impressed with the doctors and dental hygienist here and would follow mine if they ever moved to a different practice. I even referred my friends here. This week I had a disappointing experience with an unprofessional member of their admin staff. This individual provided me with three different prices for a procedure in a matter of just a few days, and failed to honor two of the quotes she gave me. The first one was not honored because their staff didn't see some fine print on my insurance policy. The second one was not honored because the staff member gave me a price before checking with her supervisor. When I pointed out their unprofessional behavior, the admin simply said "I just work at the front desk". I asked to speak to her supervisor who was supposed to "hopefully call" by the end of today. I've heard nothing yet. All of this happened after I already completed the first part of my procedure with Manus. I'm extremely disappointed. read more

I've had only great experiences here, and I'm surprised at the negative reviews. I particularly think Dr. Morin is amazing with kids. He has my kids loving going to the dentist, and he genuinely seems to love kids which they can sense. He was recommended by my pediatrician. One day my toddler (who didn't have many teeth yet) was dying to take his turn too, so Dr. Morin let him lie next to my son who was having his teeth cleaned, and they both were giggling and had a great time. Dr. Morin also recommended an optional sealant for my older son which I gather is a good idea and not always suggested. He's a bit pricey with my particular insurance but I feel confident the kids are getting good care and they don't fight me, which is worth a lot too. For me, I see Dr. Shah who I've always been happy with. She worked on a filling for quite a while until I was satisfied about how it affected my bite. Also the hygenist I see (the same one each time and I'm so sorry I can't recall her name) is wonderful, very experienced and seems to really know what she is doing. read more

If I could add an extra star to this review of Dr. Sara Rudolph and her staff at Manus Dental in Hyde Park, I would. Since childhood, my dental visits were a source of horror to me and one or two experiences as an adult left me reluctant and anxious to go again. But this visit had the comfort of a visit to a friend (okay, so your friends don't poke around in your gums and x-ray you, usually). The state of the art office, the professionalism, thoroughness, concern with my comfort level, the care with which they informed me of everything they were doing, and the general atmosphere of comfort was all new to me, had me at ease the whole time, and - get this - looking forward to my next visit! Dr. Rudolph is warm, funny, forthright and down-to-earth, as is her whole staff. A shout out to Ronnie and Francheska. The women in this office are phenomenal - the last time I felt this at ease was at a spa for women on the north side. Thanks, ladies. read more

I cannot recommend this office. Yes, I agree that the office is modern and state-of-the-art. Also, Dr. Rudolph and the staff were extremely polite and friendly. However, I do not feel that I got the necessary dental care and expertise that was required. I went to Dr. Rudolph for a scheduled filling. She began the filling and decided a root cannel was necessary. She proceeded then to only tell me that the tooth was "too complicated" (what does that mean?) and that she will need to schedule me with another dentist in the practice. Then she put a temporary cap on the tooth while I waited days to be seen by another dentist. I cannot tell you the pain that I was in!!!!! When I called Dr. Rudolph to request a sooner appointment (after she determined she could not complete it); she did not speak to me but simply called my pharmacy to prescribe pain medicine that I was allergic to. It was a horrible experience all around; never to be repeated. read more
