How do I request retrieval of my records with Dr. Spector with new owners? I had sent a request last year to no avail. Thanks

Does Dr. Spector no longer own/work here?

Hello, Kimberly! Dr. Spector sold his practice in July 2022 as he prepared for retirement. We, Diamond Plus Orthodontics, are the new owners and wish Dr. Spector well in his next chapter of retirement!

I don't even know where to begin, this was truly a 10/10 experience…read more I came in for an emergency dental visit, and they took me in immediately, no hassle, no runaround. Even though the office was clearly busy, I never once felt rushed or like just another patient on a list. The entire team was incredibly attentive and genuinely focused on making sure I was comfortable and okay. I ended up needing a crown, and they handled everything right then and there, no temporary fix, no waiting weeks for a crown. The fact that they were able to complete the entire procedure on the spot was impressive on its own, but what stood out even more was the quality of the work and the care behind it. Jackie and Dr. Rob were exceptional. They walked me through everything, made sure I felt at ease, and checked in constantly throughout the process. For something that could have been stressful, they made it seamless. I'm beyond grateful for the level of professionalism, efficiency, and compassion I experienced. Couldn't recommend them more. Thank you again! Ps: even got an eye mask and hand mask to relax later!

I had a mixed but ultimately negative experience with this provider and would not return…read more At my initial visit, there were some early concerns. The doctor repeatedly emphasized how busy he is, which came across as rushed and somewhat dismissive. Before proceeding with treatment (Botox for TMJ), I reached out via email and phone with specific questions, including a request for him to consult with my neurologist, which my neurologist recommended. I was told that the doctor deemed the consultation unnecessary and that he would address any questions at the time of the appointment. I was also told he was too busy to review my questions in advance. This made it difficult to feel fully informed or confident going into the procedure. I decided to pursue the procedure anyway. To his credit, during the procedure he did answer my questions and agreed to treat the requested area. However, at my two-week follow-up, I reported increased pain that had been impacting my ability to work and function. The doctor shared a story about another patient he described as someone who complains all the time. The story felt indirect but strongly implied that patient concerns like mine might be exaggerated. This made me feel uncomfortable and dismissed at a time when I was seeking support and clarity about worsening symptoms. Additionally, while in the waiting room, I observed another patient being questioned in a similarly dismissive tone when she asked for additional help post-treatment. This reinforced my concern about how patient concerns are handled in this practice. Overall, while the procedure itself was completed, the communication style, lack of responsiveness beforehand, and dismissive handling of post-procedure concerns made this a negative experience. I would encourage others to ask detailed questions in advance and consider whether this practice is a good fit for them. Long-term results of my treatment experience are yet to be determined, but I will not be returning due to the unprofessional manner in which the provider speaks about, and to, patients.

First Dr. Karnaukh didn't measure my gums to monitor my gum recession and from my previous visit she should've made a note that my gums need to be measured on every visit because I have a significant damage to the structure of my teeth and gum recession as a result of a botched orthodontic treatment done a few years ago. She referred me to a physical therapy for my TMJ and difficulty swallowing but when I called the clinic they told me that based on my symptoms none of their doctors feel comfortable taking my case. Then the cleaning done by the hygienist was a complete joke because she didn't use the machine but she was scrubbing manually and that took forever to have my teeth cleaned. Lastly, they billed only the exam under Dr. Karnaukh's name and the cleaning was billed to my insurance under the name of Dr. Nouneh. I have never seen dr. Nouneh in my life so I don't know what kind of insurance frauds they do there and why they billed my cleaning under a doctor who has never seen me. I called my insurance company and they told me that I have to make them correct this and bill the cleaning under the name of the doctor who did the exam but the manager of Brighter Dental refused and she only offered to remove the balance I owed due to dr. Nouneh not being in network with my insurance. I don't recommend this dental office and unfortunately I have to be on the look for a new dentist again due to the unethical and fraudulent business practices done in this office.

She explained their no-pressure orthodontic consultation and found an appointment time that worked great for my family and I. Natalia and the entire front office (special shout-out to Melissa too!) have always been kind and helpful. We had a great consult with Dr. Dale. He was so thorough in his exam and recommendations, with a warmth that we had never experienced before. We are so grateful, as our daughter (and we, her parents) were instantly put at ease. We immediately wanted to become his patients and plan to be for many, many years! Becky assisted us regarding orthodontic cost and payment options. She is SPECTACULAR. There was never any pressure to proceed, and she and the team made sure that everything was explained in full detail so we knew what to expect at all times. Above and beyond! That is what Chicago Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is. Our daughter was actually excited and still is to have braces on her teeth. We are in awe. Thank you magnificent Chicago Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics team! If you want excellent orthodontic care - you MUST check them out.

Dr. Dale Benjamin misled me at the consultation by promising treatment that left me with a huge…read moreoverbite (bigger on the upper left than on the right side), teeth were not fully aligned, a piece of a tooth broke during the treatment, he shortened my upper left tooth in trying to create impression of delivering quick results and most importantly left me with misaligned bite where my upper and lower teeth no longer match. As a result I can't close my mouth properly and I am in constant discomfort that led to jaw pain, headaches, tension in my tongue, face and neck muscles, and a lot of anxiety. My face changed significantly as a result of the treatment. Dale Benjamin refused to give me a refund unless I sign a release form that I am taking the refund as a settlement and I release him from any liability that may arise from his treatment. When I reached out to him regarding the jaw pain he referred me to a general dentist for a toothache. In my opinion Dr. Dale doesn't have any integrity and he is not trustworthy. I still haven't begun a treatment somewhere else because I paid $4,520 to Dale Benjamin and now I have to pay $7,500 to another orthodontist to fix what Dr. Benjamin messed up. Therefore I have been wearing unattended braces since April 2024, the colored O rings started falling out and I accidentally swallowed three of them. With that said, you should think 100 times before you hire a board certified orthodontist with university degree who will trick you into a treatment that caused more damage than good and who wants to be released from any liability that might arise from the treatment he provided you with. I don't know how I fell for the promises of Dr. Benjamin. Had I known that that after one year I will have the overbite of a horse and I will not be able to close my mouth properly I would've ran away from his clinic. At the consultation I chose metal braces. I am 41 years old and Dr. Benjamin asked me how I am going to date with metal braces. Well, I see no issue but anyway my dating life is not Dr. Benjamin's business. I began the treatment and when I went for my first check up he referred to me as "you were the one with the metal braces" and he rushed to clarify that I am the first adult patient he has ever had to choose metal braces over ceramic. At this point I don't know what made the doctor feel so comfortable talking to me like this. Was the big issue because of a $600 difference in the price or the doctor is normally a bully who likes degrading his patients. The only reason I agreed to this treatment is because he assured me that there will be no tooth extraction and now he was recommending extraction. Dale Benjamin apologized that he misspoke at the consultation by saying there will be no extraction. I consulted with four other orthodontists and they all did not recommend extraction of premolars as suitable for me. I also want to mention the office manager Shelly Martinez. When I spoke over the phone with her to share my complaints and dissatisfaction with Dr. Benjamin's work she called that a slander accusing me of lying and slandering Dr. Benjamin because I quote: "She doesn't know him in this light". No worries, I will upload photos of what they call a "slander". That was a very disappointing experience. I come from Europe where doctors with university degrees don't sit like a salesman telling you anything you want to hear in order to sell you their services. I regret the day I went in for a consultation and I fell for the promises of Dale Benjamin. I regret the day I hired Dale Benjamin. His treatment caused more damage than good. Now instead of taking the braces off and moving on with my life now I have to begin a new treatment, spend thousands more, undergo a painful surgery to remove impacted wisdom tooth and then spend another year or more wearing braces but that doesn't guarantee that for the $7,500 I will spend the overbite of a horse will be reduced as it may end up permanent. Hiring Dale Benjamin as my orthodontist was the biggest waste of time and money in my life!

I want to preface this review by stating that my husband and I did A LOT of research prior to…read moredeciding to go with ORA. I came into the clinic with a need for a dental implant after an external resorption that rendered my tooth essentially worthless. I came to see a surgeon at the clinic, who eventually put me under anesthesia in order to remove my teeth and do a bone graft and, eventually, an implant. After months, I came back for a follow-up, and it became quickly clear that the implant was being rejected. At the follow-up, I asked if there were reasons why this could be the case (a genuine and fair question when you're paying over $5,000 for a procedure out of your own pocket) and the surgeon was EXTREMELY defensive and rude. It was an incredibly odd situation, since I'm young, healthy, have great oral hygiene, have no familial dental issues, and less than 5% of implants actually fail. I left the appointment feeling really dismissed. Eventually, the office took out the implant (for free, which I appreciated!). I was again put under anesthesia for the procedure. The surgeon did not call me to follow-up on how I was feeling (despite doing that on every other procedure I'd had there). Nobody from the office called me. Eventually, I brushed off the situation and went to speak to, in total, 3 dental professionals (periodontist, dentist, and oral surgeon). All 3 of these professionals, after looking at the x-ray, said that it looked as though there was something in my gums that likely prevented the implant from being successful. Finally, the periodontist cut open my gum and took out a piece of unremoved tooth (a leftover from the tooth that had been previously removed by the ORA surgeon). The leftover tooth--which was about 1cm in size--was causing me bleeding, puss, and eventually cost me THOUSANDS of dollars in dental care (while I was a student). Eventually, I sent an email to ORA asking if we could discuss my experience. My email explained that as both an attorney and a child of medical professionals, I understand that accidents happen, but that it's important to sit with patients that have grievances in order to (1) understand what happened and (2) figure out how to compensate (not necessarily financially) the patient. I have never received a single phone call or email back from ORA in response to this email despite laying out (1) the immense financial burden of the situation given it predominantly happened while I was a student, (2) the pain caused from the leftover tooth, and (3) the additional dental expenses incurred in the aftermath of attempting to fix the issue. In my head, just having a conversation with me, explaining to me the possibilities of what happened, and apologizing would have been MORE than sufficient to make me feel better and cared for by these professionals. I feel extremely disappointed in this office, primarily because I loved the staff very much! I felt disregarded and did not at all feel cared for as a patient. Of course, this does not disregard all of the great reviews that people have left for ORA on this page. But I hope that it can provide some additional information regarding my experience!

I had a bad tooth, and I was in excruciating pain taking 800mg pain pills every 6 hours for 3 weeks straight because they continuously moved my appointment further and further. They didn't care at all. Eventually the work was done, and I was glad it was over. Now 3 years later, they just told my mom during her appointment that I owe a balance that was supposed to be covered by my insurance. A balance that no one EVER told me about and that they are now about to send it to collections and mess up my credit. This feel very targeted and I never did anything or even respond angrily. The…read morereason I chose them over the other places was because of their wonderful customer service, friendly staff--particularly Jazmine and Keaira--and convenient location for me. Dr. Arruda is great; my teeth were straight fairly quickly, but she meticulously ensured that my bite was correct and felt good to me. The only reason I knocked off one star was because WLO was significantly more pricey than the other places I got quotes from. And there were two times I ran out of rubberbands and went to the office during their normal hours (no holiday, no patient-wide notification of closure) and they were closed. My MO from then was to stock up on rubberbands or call prior to an unscheduled visit. Other than that, if I had to start my Invisalign journey again, I'd choose WLO.

It's clear that WLO prioritizes their profits over ensuring the work they do is quality and caring for their patients. I will not be returning and urge you to find a different orthodontist in the area to avoid facing the same frustrations I have.
