The place is pretty cool minus the length of time we waited for the food. I ordered a Bloody Mary and the waitress had no idea what I was talking about. Luckily for me the bartenders knew what it was. Although they delivered the Bloody Mary with no garnish, it was absolutely delicious but I would have loved a celery stick at least. I ordered the Huevos Rotos which was thinly sliced (very greasy) potatoes with chorizo and 2 fried yolky eggs. My friend ordered the egg sandwich which was really good but the portion was tiny. I used to like Mantequilla, it was one of my favorite breakfast restaurants. But the last two times I went I had a an altercation with the Valet Parking. When you go go super early and they have all the parking available they want to park your car far away on the street when you can't see it, so this time I told the valet I wanted my car park near the entrance because they had the space to do it, he didn't want to ,I ask him why? there was no explanation. So I told him I can park my car Myself then, and he didn't want to let me do that either, I told him the street is public and marked as yellow as Mantequilla Space. So I parked my car. I talk to the manager and she talked to the valet. The food was ok but not as good as they use too. Be aware of your car on the street, it can get stolen if is too far away from their business. VALET IS RUDE!! read more

From the moment I arrived @11am with only a party of 5 were we mistreated and disrespected by the staff. The short blond hair hostess completely ignored us when we first got there instantly giving her attention to another party. She then told us the wait would be 30 mins totally understandable since it was a Saturday morning. Time went by and more people began to join the waitlist but we began to notice they were seating everyone but us. We then went to go ask if our table was almost ready mind you at this point it is 40 mins later and at least five other groups who arrive after us were already seated the hostess very rudely with an attitude told us it would be another 20 mins. I CANNOT BELIEVE this is how they treated new potential customers. Left because it was a complete joke do not recommend no level of good food could be worth being ignored like that! read more

I've been a customer for years, and from a few months to now the service has become horrible. The servers straight up lie to you. I thought that the service would be different in their other location (that's not listed here on Yelp) but over there it took them over 1hr for my food to get to the table. The person in charge didn't even care to take care of the issue and only apologized saying that they had miss placed my order. Never going back there again, strongly suggest against this place. read more

For brunch, I ordered the bacon toast (their specialty) with a side of French toast. The bacon toast was good, it comes with an egg, crispy bacon just the way I like it, and a sweet flavored toast undearneath. Personally I felt that my dish tasted better after I added the habanero salsa (you have to request it). It gave it an extra punch of flavor. As for the French toast it was better than what I had imagined. The inside was fluffy and filled with cream and strawberries. They also serve it with blueberries and powdered sugar on the top. I was glad it wasn't too sweet just fresh and tasty a perfect combination! As for the coffee (regular coffee) I was very disappointed. When a place has dishes with great presentation and taste you would expect nothing less in a coffee cup. I believe that small things DO count and not having descent coffee should be addressed by their management. Nonetheless their food is worth tasting. I'll be coming back hopefully to an improved cup of coffee. read more

The food at Mantequilla was very good. I ordered chilaquiles and coffee. The chilaquiles were delicious and were very different and unique. I was with a group of & people and took around an hour to get a table. I was told it is always busy. The service was a little slow and disorganized. We ordered drinks but only the coffees came out and the we were served before the other ppl in our table had their drinks. We had to remind the waiter a few times on what drinks we still needed. The restaurant is very nice and clean. I will definitely be back soon to try or things in the menu. read more

I would give this place a 2.5 stars for the decor and service the food is more of a 2 Star place. The potatoes taste like they where frozen from a bag. The pork belly must have been cooked about 3 or 4 days ago and been reheated for our meal (Friday might not be the day to order pork belly) it was dried out and tough. The coffee was mediocre, not that high of quality. The service is good and the restaurant decor is well done. read more

So, my family has taken upon themselves to find the best brunch places in Tj. Being that we are all morning people, don't mind skipping church to beat the crowds and love breakfast, we have been doing pretty good in our journey. I'll review other places in the near future... But for now, I think I have encountered the best chilaquiles in town! So, I showed up a bit later than my family, and they already had a table. But it seems that you have to show up pretty early for that. My coffee came right away and it was a pretty standard Americano. My nephew eats small amounts, so I got to sample his molletes. Very good! I also sampled my aunt's benedicts which were just okay. I then ordered the chilaquiles and let me tell you... Oh so good!!! The best! If it isn't bc my family restricts how often we can visit a brunch place (para no hacer hoyo LOL), I would return in a heartbeat :) read more

The food was okay however I will not be going back as I had an unpleasant situation with the waiter. When we were handed our tab the waiter very rudely demanded a 10% tip which we said we would leave cash however she proceeded to charge herself a tip on my card as well! At the moment I didn't realize she had tipped herself on my card so I left a cash tip as well. Something in how the food is prepared has recently changed they must've hired new cooks or something because the food has no flavor and no attention to detail on the presentation and preparedness of the food items such as the avocado toast bread too soggy and broken they added some pellets looking croutons to a TOAST!!! Then they added a scrambled egg and the side potatoes were tiny and cold as if they added them from a leftover plate i am also drinking the vanilla latte I ordered and even this doesn't have a vanilla taste at all. My husband had egg sandwich which was OK but the side potatoes looked like some sort of shredded item that you put on sushi This was a waste of money and didn't enjoy breakfast at all will not be eating here again EVER!!! read more

Finally! A place with delicious food AND excellent service. The chef Aitor was very attentive and helpful with assisting us on the selection of our dishes. I ordered the CA style eggs Benedict. My group also ordered French toast and chilaquiles to share. The place has a hip and modern feel to the ambiance almost as if you're in Downtown LA or something. Brought my mom, sis and niece here for brunch, they're visiting from NorCal. It was perfect. They had typical US style breakfast, french toast, eggs and bacon. I had chilaquiles with a side of pork belly. Husband had avocado toast. Oh and a pitcher of mimosas. Absolutely fabulous. I even came back the next week for chicken and waffles. The ambiance is nice. We were the first ones here, and they took forever to come and ask what we wanted to drink. I ordered the creamy poblano chilaquilles and it was delicious. I had to try this restaurant, how could you not, it is named after my favorite cooking ingredient. Anyhow, my wife and I decided to go to brunch across the border and in search of a restaurant , we found Mantequilla. We arrived, signed in and got seated within the first 15 mins- I think we were lucky as it got busy right after-. The menu is simple, you find a mixture of American brunch essentials with a bit of traditional Mexican breakfast meals - the alcoholic menu is large and in charge- . As soon as we sat down we did bottomless mimosas -what a delicious way to wait for food- when we ordered our food we were told that it would take aproxímate 15-35 mins. It took about 20 mins, but the wait was def worth it, the meal was absolutely delish. I ordered eggs Benedict California and my wife ordered the French Toast with bacon. The French Toast had this incredible sweet and sour sauce that made your taste buds have a party. Needless to say, we loved the place and I would recommend it to any brunch lover! read more

Wil NOT be back. Horrible service! Entres were delivered in an untimely matter. We were a party of 5 and every 30 min they served only one person. They forgot half of our order and the waiter did not bother to help us. We did complain to the manager but also very rude and unprofessional.
