Yelp needs an option for negative stars. I was forced to work for this company when my client company consolidated staffing agencies. Manpower is absolutely abysmal. From contact points we met with monthly who know and do absoutely nothing if you have a question or concern, to ridiculously cheap holiday gift cards that we can opt to donate to charity (and I guess they get the tax write off?) that don't work when you try to redeem them, to tracking PTO in Excel files (you heard that right, folks) that you need to proactively request to track your hours. When you are separated from them, they drag their feet in coding you as inactive in their system, perilizing your ability to enroll in COBRA. This company is horribly managed with staff that have very low to no skills. Constant phone calls to benefits and HR resulting in zero resolution so far to the healthcare coverage issue. Manpower really holds true to the negative stereotype about employment agencies. I just needed temporary employment as I was conducting a full time job search on my own, and they did absolutely nothing for me. I filled out 2 hours of paperwork (much of which asking the same questions repeatedly) to have an unprofessional little twit named Troy, sit down with me for 3 minutes and tell me that they would call me back in a week, all the while, referring to me as "boss" or "chief". 2 Weeks went by and I received no call. I called to speak with Troy and he told me to come in to complete the paperwork. I did that, requested to speak with him, and was completely ignored for an hour while he skipped around the office, making lame jokes, and pretending to be Ari Gold. So I walked out. Manpower might "not care about anyone but the hiring companies they work with", as another reviewer stated, but I am an extremely hard working person, that associates a strong level of pride with assignments given that are attached to my name. I have an excellent work record, and graduated college with honors. I believe that most reputable employers would find value in a candidate such as myself, unfortunately for those that use Manpower as a search agent, none of those companies will ever have me work for them. I have no respect for Manpower, and will never waste my time with them again. read more

Everyday I call for my availability, the receptionist seems to be very eager to get my employee number then hang up the phone. (Of course, I'm still not placed anywhere). 1 Star Tried to use them about a year ago when i was planning on leaving my job. They told me to come in to speak with one of the recruiters. When I walked into the building, the smell hit me....i don't know if it was curry or cumin, but i thought i was walking thru the kitchen of an Indian restaurant!..... Walked upstairs and there was no receptionist, so I found someone and told them I was scheduled to meet w/ a recruiter......here's how the meeting went: recruiter walks out of his office, asks for my resume, gives me his card and writes the web address on it, tells me to look for jobs on there...... why'd I have to come all the way out here for this? Aurora, CO. I separated from Manpower (As the staffing agency for my main job) after 2 days, due to the position I accepted being unfit for my qualifications. I received paystubs from Manpower with no actual pay checks or direct deposit for 3 weeks after separating. I set up direct deposit as part of my Onboarding. I corresponded with the head recruiter about my paychecks. The first week I was told I would get a check via mail and direct deposit would hit for the following week (the payments landed on different pay periods) . The second week I was told direct deposit would hit Friday 11/29/19. On the third week I still hadn't been paid and I reached out by email again to this recruiter and the story changed to I now have to pick up a pay card at the location (i have email evidence for this). I don't mind terribly the fact that I had to track down my money, but I do mind the rude, short phone calls and emails and the blatant gas lighting like I wasn't paying attention to their guidance this whole time. There was a further issue with the card that I unfortunately had to call this person about and the conversation ended with a curt hang up. My experience was incredibly rude and the behaviors I experienced make me suspect I was being punished for backing out of the job opportunity fully within my rights to do so. Mind you, I was called about the position, interviewed, and hired within an 18 hour period, so organization is not a selling point for this company or their client who hired me either. The rushed nature of my 2 days of employment through Manpower were not to be desired. When it comes to people's money, there should be an accurate explanation of what to expect the first time or patience on the recruiter's end to manage paychecks. If I hadn't reached out I have no idea if I would've been paid. Apparently my money was already sitting on a pay card with no option for direct deposit. I hate this place. They are contracted by a client of mine to process payments and they require me to spend $9,000 a year to be one of their vendors in legal and insurance costs. They are now requiring me with 24-hour notice to sign an agreement to change my payment terms from Net30 to Net45 because they negotiated this changed on my behalf. The people there are very nice and seem to really want to place you. But with the current unemployment rate they should be more honest about it. They had me holding on for 2 weeks about one assignment that I am sure many others were waiting on as well. They just kept handing me a line everytime I asked about it, like the main interviewer is on vacation. Yea, sure, sell me a bridge in the desert. I was sent an email telling me to come to an open house interview the next day. The email said the interview was for a position I had applied for on their website. When I arrived I was told that I would not be considered for the position based on my resume. They should have told me that all they wanted to do was meet me and fill out my profile. I worked for Manpower in San Mateo successfully on assignments in Redwood City, and even with outstanding records, once i moved BACK to San Jose/Sunnyvale, this agency did absolutely NOTHING to place me. I did the online thing too, which was still a big zero. They really "dropped the ball" for me, and I'm very well qualified, so I'm looking for greener pasteurs, sorry I waited so long anticipating better results. I came to the Stevens Creek Manpower in search of a new job position. This was my first experience with a staffing agency and I was a little on the nervous side to be honest. When I went in, I was immediately helped by the front desk receptionist who was AMAZING! I found that everyone was warm and friendly and my tensions were immediately ceased! I was taken a back at how friendly and warm the ENTIRE staff was. Answering all of the questions that I had, and making me feel comfortable. Troy Payne was of great assistance to me as well; he was efficient, professional, extremely NICE and contacted me in a timely manner! I always work with Mark,and the staff at the Sunnyvale/Stevens Creek Office! I get assignments as they become available. Jobs are VERY tough right now,but they do their best,based on your qualifications to keep you working as much as they can! I know there are many obstacles now as far as backgrounds checks,etc. that have to be done,so it's not a walk in the park anywhere,unless you have you own business,and even then,there are still issues. I would not recommend people to come to this place. I used to come here like years ago to get help for the employment. I had to go through the whole orientation which I didnt mind and I thought they would help me to get something, but no. Then I came back here again after two years or so, I spoke to the receptionist lady saying that I need help finding a job and she told me to email my resume. I think despite being told that the process takes 2-3 hours, people are surprised and annoyed when it actually takes this long. The registration process is a little boring but well worth the time because their people really try to match you with great positions. This was my first experience working with a placement agency of any kind, and to be honest, this was the best on-boarding experience yet. I couldn't ask for a more helpful staff, a better career fit, or a smoother process. As a matter of fact, I found a position, interviewed, and started so quickly that the branch rep and on-site rep had to work miracles just so that they could get me the papers from the employer in time to sign. I don't know if its the place or the people but the receptionist was very rude to my sister, her boyfriend and I. So, my sister and her boyfriend are 21 years old but their appearance made them look as if they are 13 or 14 yrs old. Without any question, the receptionist said to us, we only take application from someone who are 18 or older and you must have some sort of experience in order to apply. huh? I thought it was a temp agency where you are suppose to do your best to help people find jobs regardless if they have any working experience or not. euh? how in the hell do you assume someone ages then left them hanging? Out of work for awhile so I was referred to manpower by my girlfriend who had a good experience with them. I felt very welcomed when I walked in and was instantly greeted by a nice lady who helped me.
