My Manna's buffet selection of baked chicken, chicken stuffing, tender sweet plantain, collard greens and candied yams - all delicious!!!
Mike R.

Took my nephew to the Apollo and wanted a quick local place nearby to grab a bite before the show. Had passed by Manna's for years, but never ventured in until then. So glad I did! Noting Manna's is not a fancy dining setting, the food and flexibility with its selection makes it a winner in my book! They offers a great, fair-priced buffet with some delicious soul food specialties. Loved the baked chicken, (yum) chicken stuffing, tender sweet plantains, plus especially (two of my favorites) collard greens and candied yams! My nephew had a tasty jerk chicken with assorted sides. We both totally enjoyed it! Manna's will likely be my go-to local pre-show spot in the future, however would recommend eating there any time!

The food was amazing! I'm just visiting and Manna's was one of the first places I've eaten and I already want to go back. Everything was full of flavor, it felt like thanksgiving at my families house. And the man helping was very friendly. Will be back.

Even I wasn't able to try everything, so I came back within a week to this pay-by-pound buffet and was able to get by without a single repeat item. The fried chicken was just o.k., but that provides more opportunity to branch out. The ribs were a standout with an enticing red sauce, and the mac-and-cheese had that awesome crust on top. In my second excursion, the pineapple ham was perhaps the most photo-friendly offering, but the boldest flavor was from the jerk chicken. While the abundant meat is what initially lured me in, I also enjoyed the potato salad, cabbage and black-eyed peas. Depending on your mood, you might want to lean on the healthy, reliable collard greens, or try for a curveball like the lima beans with smoked turkey necks.

Just moved here a week ago, i've tried a couple places around NYC and this is hands down the best i've had so far and likely for a while. I know fantastic food when i have it. Very flavorful, varied palette, and many options for you to pack your plate with. I'll be coming here for years to come!

They moved to a new location and have outside seating options. It hits the spot when you're craving soul food but it has changed a bit in quality. I felt like they had more options at their old location vs this new one but the food is still good a bit pricey but again better than other options. We wanted to scoop a bit of everything but the pepper steak was more sauce and peppers than any steak so we left it.

Manna's is another eatery that I frequent so much that they should have a framed pic of me on the wall at the register. All of the food is buffet style and the variety is amazing-sooo many options. There are delicious hot and cold dishes to suit every craving. I have so many favorites and personal combos. I'm a big fan of the crispy honey fish. The baked ziti is so hot and cheesy and scrumptious. It's nicely baked and filled with saucy ground beef. I spoon drizzle jerk chicken gravy all over it. The collard greens are cooked so well, they make me miss my grandmother's and think of how she made hers. The greens aren't too firm and not too soggy. They're just right and perfectly seasoned. When I'm feeling extra greedy, I dig into the cornbread dressing. It's nicely browned on top and very tasty. The salads, fruit, deviled eggs-all the cold options are A1. Manna's has recently added NOLA style gumbo to the menu and it slaps! This is my fave place to eat from when I'm in Harlem for work. Good stuff!

Wow, this restaurant has bold flavors and they don't hold back. The only gripe I have is that the roasted chicken that I got was incredibly dry and tough. However, it was packed with so much flavor that it was OK when paired with, their really delicious Dirty rice and their sweet green beans. The rice had sautéed peppers, spices, and sausage. It was really soft and super flavorful. Do not pass up on their green beans. I thought I would not like it as I usually don't care for the standard green beans. I get at American restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised to see that these were really sweet and juicy! Highly recommend. And as I mentioned at the beginning, their chicken was very tough and dry, but the flavor was there. I will give them a pass as it was pretty late at night, and that chicken probably was cooked earlier in the day.

The name speaks for itself. Soul food, Caribbean, black food sold by the pound. So build a plate to your liking. Very clean buffet. It's a super buffet with spaghetti, chicken wings, oxtails, watermelon, salad, jerk chicken, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, peach cobbler, deviled eggs, etc. there's so many options for every taste. Average customer service. Reasonable price. outdoor seating available. Great value!!!

Expensive for what it is and the food is hit or miss. The mashed potatoes were probably from a box and were inedible.

Service was great and the restaurant was pleasant and filled with natural light. We didn't have a reservation but there was no problem to be seated quickly and served promptly. Took off one star because a member of my dinner party had trouble returning their side of collard greens due to it being too salty. A staff member who wasn't our original waitress, pressed them to choose another one. So I'm not sure if this restaurant allows you to take an item off the bill if it misses the mark but I'd still return in a heartbeat.

The food is the real spotlight. The smothered chicken with collard greens and mac and cheese is a must. The yams were perfectly done but definitely on the sweeter side, so just something to keep in mind. I already know I need to come back to try the fried chicken next time. If you are looking for a traditional Southern brunch at a true neighborhood staple, this is the place. I only wish I lived closer.

I promptly sat myself at the bar and took in the beautiful ambience that Red Rooster Harlem has to offer. After drooling over the menu, I ordered a Pom-o Paradise which I later found out is a pomegranate margarita on tap topped with Prosecco. This drink is ordered up to 500 times a day and rightfully so!! It was light and delicious. For dinner, I ordered the sweet potato and coconut soup. It was flavorful and memorable. I crave it as I write this review. I then had the jerk salmon bowl. As a Jamaican, I was skeptical, however I had faith in God and the chef lol. I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I saw that the small, roasted tomatoes were left whole, however, cutting into them as they elegantly burst into an additional sauce was an experience I didn't know I needed. The jerk rub was spot on and made me want to whip out my flag, but I surprisingly left it at home. I say all this to say, I had an amazing experience and can't wait to come back and try their highly recommended chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits, mac and greens, and more. Until next time, Red Rooster Harlem!

It was wonderful to see customers get up to dance! Red Rooster's brunch menu had much to enjoy and we tried as many items on the menu as we three could. Of course we required 'doggie bags' to take home leftovers. - For Brunch we indulged on their: - Deviled Eggs, Cornbread, Fried Chicken on waffle, Red Velvet pancake with eggs and maple bacon, and Double Smashed Cheeseburger with Fries. Yes, we will have to work off the calories tomorrow, but so worth it! Good list of wines, beers, cocktails and various libations. Friendly staff and servers, although often moving at a slow pace. However, each were very friendly, warm and helpful with inquiries. Irie!

The fufu is your utensil. You pinch a piece, dip it into a stew, and that's your bite. I didn't get a stew this time so I kind of freestyled it... dipped mine into the jollof rice with that tomato/meat sauce they put on top and grabbed some lamb. Still hit. One thing to know: there's no traditional restroom setup to wash your hands. They'll bring out a bucket of water and liquid soap so you can clean up at the table. It's normal, but if that's not your thing, just bring hand sanitizer and you'll be good.

The jollof rice was a simple rendition of perfectly seasoned, fluffy rice that packed deep West African spice with every bite. The accompanying red chicken stew was addictively tangy and had enough spice to singe the taste buds. So yummy. The spinach had an unctuous vegetative flavor that paired nicely with the dough-y mellow fufu. The only thing I didn't like was the bits of fish cooked in that still contained bones. Felt like I had to be cautious going through the spinach. The big fried fish pieces were simple and tasty but had a similar but lesser problem. A bit of a first world problem, I know, but it makes the experience just slightly less enjoyable. The hibiscus drink was perfumed with floral sweet and sour. Service: Service was immaculate. The wonderful staff behind the counter asked if it was our first time and had us sampling all the different rices and stews/soups to make sure we liked what we ordered. Ambiance: Very much a hole in the wall in East Harlem with very few tables. Simple but effective. The predominant foot traffic was all the food service drivers coming in and out of the establishment (which there was a healthy flow of).
