Manna had always been a good to for us. Soul food with a twist. This was my first time at the new location on Main Street on a cold day, in the mood for something warm and cozy. I chose the seafood chowder. Picture a container full of warm, smooth, yummy goodness. Great velvety consistency with mounds of crab, baby scallops and shrimp. Seafood in each bite, not just broth overload. Great extras that gave the taste more depth like onions, celery, salt and pepper. After the first spoonful I got lost in paradise only to snap out of it and find it was gone. I'd eaten the whole container before I could snap a pic...corn bread paired nicely with it by the way. I am compelled to describe my experiences with this restaurant. My goal is to warn potential customers and to help the current owners to make the necessary changes before they lose their investment. After all, no restaurant can survive with mediocre food that is overpriced along with terrible service! Today I had the absolute worst breakfast ever and that includes the food I cook from home, and I am not a chef! The over easy eggs were so undercooked, they were raw! Everyone at my table either sent them back or simply refuse to eat them. The scrambled eggs were overcooked and lukewarm! Half of my party received their food so late, that first group had completed their meals before the rest received their food. Everyone was so disappointed and angry with the poor quality and the poor service, they ALL vowed to never return there again. If a restaurant can't make a simple breakfast meal in a timely matter without blatant mistakes, then they don't deserve to own and operate a restaurant. The portions were so measly that only one slice of dry toast was served with each breakfast. Attempts were made to speak to the owner and manager about our poor experience but to no avail They were not only rude but extremely hostile. I do like to support local businesses in the community, but I can't patronize a business that has no regard for their customers. Please do yourself and your pocketbook a favor before dining at Manna's and simply eat a bowl of cold cereal at home! read more

My husband and I frequented Hyde Park Café in Niagara Falls for very good fish and grits. Manna is better. The fish is beautifully fried -not a hard fry. The fish is thick and the meat is lobster-like. Very moist and savory. Grits were slapping and the eggs were fried perfectly. Our server was friendly and accommodating in the food came quickly and was piping hot delicious. It's about $10 more for two people to come here but well worth it and I don't have to drive to Niagara Falls! Coffee even slapped. We will be back. read more

I was introduced to Manna as a student at Northland Workforce Training Center. Ever since then, my family and I have loved stopping in and breaking bread with the wonderful folks there. Every year, I make sure to be one of the first on the list for Thanksgiving dinner--it's a tradition now. Earlier this fall, when my mother-in-law passed, we once again turned to Manna to cater the celebration of life in her honor. We cannot say enough about the experience. The best peach cobbler I have ever tasted!!! As a vegetarian who is also not big on sweets (the peach cobbler was irresistible!) I was concerned there would be no options for me. Took my kiddos there for a quick bite and they loved the grill cheese with french fries! It was seasoned and not the way they've had grill cheese before so they enjoyed it a lot. I had been hearing about Manna @ Northland for a few months and today I finally was able to make a visit. I am so happy I did because my belly is warm & fuzzy. It was a difficult decision but I ended up with the all day breakfast item of shrimp & grits. The grits were the white hominy kind with a creamy corny flavor. Grateful to have had catering during an event at the north land workforce training center! The green beans were incredible, the flavoring and pepper were so delicious! The chicken cutlet and Mac and cheese were good - they did those staples well but nothing blew me away other than the beans. The vanilla wafer pudding was also delicious! Never had it that way and Iike the little surprises when I got a kernel in a bite. This restaurant is located in the Northland Workforce Training Center as their primary eatery and though it's housed there for the students/trainees it's open to the public and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Manna is a clean, welcoming, warm and bright gem within the Northland building. I don't know what to say. This place is amazing!!! It's a wonderful place to spend some time eating delicious food. We walked in, and I read their specials sign and immediately had my heart set on bringing home a rack of ribs, but they were fresh out of them when it was our time to order. This visit was unplanned, but a welcomed suggestion from my friend. I will try the ribs on Tuesday (closed Mondays). I chose the fish dinner with Mac & cheese and slaw. My dish was delicious!!! The fish was perfectly seasoned and breaded. So tender and crispy, without any residual oil! Very impressed. You can tell they put a tremendous amount of care and patience into their cooking. The woman who waited on us said they sometimes take a few minutes longer than normal because virtually each dish is made to order (fried chicken and fish especially). This is something that makes me genuinely happy for our culinary future. No cutting corners or food that sits out on the counter.. just good soulful cooking that you can really appreciate. I can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they do. The slaw was scrumptious. Loaded with kale, seeds, and a nice addition of cranberries. So dope! The Mac and cheese was gooey and creamy with a hint of smoky flavor. We waited a bit longer than normal for our food, but it was well worth the wait. The staff was sympathetic and noticed our extended wait time without us even mentioning it. Very welcoming and warm! I asked for a banana pudding on my way out, and the woman who waited on us gave it to me as a courtesy. We of course left a tip and will certainly be back! Chicken was not done, no syrup for the chicken and waffle, fish soggy at the bottom, mac and cheese had no flavor, string beans pathetic. Should've just thrown 42 dollars in the trash. Impressive restaurant area where the Nortland Workforce Training building is located by Schauf St. on Northland. Very clean and large space was greeted as I walked in the door. I ordered a Queen of the Sea dinner - seafood gumbo with clams crawfish blue crab big shrimp and hushpuppies. The restaurant was very busy this evening. The dish was large and warm, there was alot of seafood the broth was dark and delicious. The blue crab shell was cracked it was tedious to get the crab out but OH so worth it I so enjoyed this meal just the right spice to it and this is the best gumbo I have ever eaten. The cornbread was very light and tasty. I hope you give this restaurant a try I think you're going to enjoy it as well. We ordered pancakes, eggs, grits, chicken and waffles. The food came out in a timely manner however, the food itself wasn't quite what the reviews hyped it to be. We only really ate the eggs and waffles. We ate it because we didn't want it to go to waste. It could have been an off day. I do plan on trying another item off the menu but not breakfast. I've been to Manna's a couple of times. Great food, but today my family and I had a bad experience that hopefully will not happen again in the future. We arrived at opening time with 9 people. By 11:15 we were seated and a pleasant young server took our order and then brought coffee and water. After 1 hour 15 minutes we noticed people had eaten and left and we still did not receive any food. One of our party went to inquire with the kitchen / cashier area about the status of the order. After a brief exchange of words we were told by an owner of the establishment that we could take our money and leave, which we did. I want people to support this business. Whenever I come to town I visit this establishment. Prior to today we've had great experiences there. Everyone has a bad day. This was not handled well by Manna. hopefully this review will help management to handle a situation like this better in the future. read more

My first time eating here while visiting Buffalo and my foo ld was amazing! Everything came out hot and the staff was very friendly. There is a lot of space here for people who are worried about social distancing...my french toast was seasoned perfectly with the cinnamon it was not too thick not too thin it literally was the problem portion you get 4 normal size slices. The eggs were scrambled hard just like i like them and the cheese was melted the way I like it as well. The grits were very creamy with melted butter on top. You place your order and pay when you walk in and you sit at an assigned table. The music was very delightful an the water tastes like there is a natural spring in the kitchen lol deeelicious. Upon walking in Manna looked clean and fresh, the staff were super friendly, and the "super saved" categories on the menu made us chuckle. If you grew up in a Black church you know what that means. I ordered a shrimp po boy, which was delicious, but not a po boy because it was missing the flaky baguette! My friend ordered fried catfish, cheese grits, and Mac and cheese, which also came with cornbread. She LOVED everything and from what I saw, her grits were perfectly creamy. Three different people checked on us during our lunch and they were so nice and attentive. I also LOVED the artwork on the walls. My onlyyyyy beef was the sweet potato pie. It was delicious, but we got two slices to go, which came to $10, and they were THEE tiniest little slices. If it was a gourmet desert I would understand a bit more, but sweet potato pie ain't expensive or elaborate to make. I'm fine with paying five bucks but I think the slices should reflect that.
