The prices are a little higher than what I would normally pay to thrift, but they had some cool items (lots of denim) and friendly staff. I didn't get anything this time, but it's the kind of place you'll want to come back to for a more thorough lay of the land. I had fun sifting through the colorful abundant racks and sometimes, that's all you're looking for in a thrift experience.

The owner of the shop, who I believe is named Cher, was just lovely! She was friendly, helpful and gave me a great price on a beautiful silk kaftan, which, I should mention, won me plenty of compliments last night. Cher helped me find a perfect last-minute outfit in a pinch and even did the necessary alteration the dress called for. Her shop has lots of other treasures (including a bridal boutique in the back half of the store) and I'll certainly be back for more! Thanks for being awesome, The Refinery!

Although the shop is largely taken up with racks and racks of beautiful retro wedding frocks, there's also a good selection of vintage pieces, and the odd pair of shoes, belts, bags and other accessories. The store owner was above and beyond helpful, going through her back stock for several possible pieces, one of which was absolutely perfect. She also suggested several styling ideas, and recommended a seamstress across the street (at the Coal Miner's Daughter) who was able to do a few alterations at a very reasonable rate. And the dress was a bit of a bargain. All in all, for someone whose natural response to over-enthusiastic/invasive shop assistants is to say thank you and leave as quickly as possible, the experience was a delight. And the music is usually pretty cool.

The store is packed with everything you could think of from old magazines, VHS tapes, vintage clothes (including an OJ Simpson jersey I regret not snagging), CDs, old jewelry, records, and a thousand other little knick-knacks and do-dads you would expect to find at a little antique shop. The store is two levels and features a few different rooms full of stuff to sort through. Sadly, I didn't find anything today that caught my eye but this is definitely the type of store that fills up with new merchandise weekly. I will definitely be making sure to stop in at least once a month to see what new stuff has entered the store!

So yeah, we found tons of awesome things, but they weren't cheap. But I have to say, it's clean, well organized, and the staff are friendly and very helpful. And some of the pieces are so great it's fun just browsing. We didn't end up getting anything, because we are cheapskates, but I still think it's a great shop in a cool neighborhood.

You get the impression you're in a high-end vintage store in Brooklyn or Manhattan. But without the New York City price tags. But that's not what I'm writing to you about -- I'm writing because shopping at your store was a great experience! ...from the moment we stepped through the door of Guff and were greeted (by Schroeder) to being assisted with checking out the table/being shown how the drop leafs work (by Schroeder) to paying for the table and a couple of ceramic cups and saucers (the latter just having arrived/but Schroeder looked them up/"no problem") to having our table prepped for pick up (by Paul and Schroeder) to being greeted the next day with a smile (by Paul) to the assist with the table being lifted into the back of our SUV (by Paul) ...it could not have been a better experience!! Buyers Beware: Lafayette Consignment appears to be a total sham…read more Tried to contact the store several times via phone, email, and instagram DM to inquire about an Hermes Birkin bag advertised on their website. After nil response, I decided to order the bag anyways. Completed the online checkout process and received an order confirmation from Lafayette directly. It is worth noting that after I purchased the bag, there was a "sold out" note on the advertisement. 16 hours later, Lafayette cancelled my order without explanation. I quickly attempted to contact them directly (again), without success. Clearly Lafayette did not have this bag in their stock. They have still not released the hold on my credit card and will not pick up their phone or answer any emails. This has been one of the most frustrating customer experiences and I would never consider shopping with them again.
