    Crab stuffed salmon pinwheel

A great little restaurant, but overall not worth the price. We stopped in for the early bird special and I'm glad we did because the food was not anything impressive, would have been disappointed paying $30 for the same perch dinner at full price. We also ordered the Delmonico steak on special for $50 and crab stuffed salmon for $24. The fried oyster appetizer was amazing, I highly recommend that! However, the food was average and the bill was outrageous.

Located in the middle of basically nowhere. Make sure you make a reservation. The atmosphere is woodsy! I'm pretty sure the converted an old wood cabin/house into the restaurant! The eating area is very compartmized like house were in the past. There is wood everywhere, but it works here creating a warm if dark atmosphere! Lots of older knick knacks on the wall. I ordered the M-22 Grill (Market ($28)). A Sirloin Steak marinated in a sweet and savory sauce. I ordered mine medium with Potatoes au Gratin and a Garden Salad. When I sat down the put a bowl down with some slices of cucumber, celery, radish, and carrots with blue cheese dressing. I normally don't care much for these, however maybe it was the blue cheese but I really enjoyed them. The steak came thinly sliced. It was very tender and excellently tasty! For an affordable steak it was top notch. The salad was excellent too. The Au Gratin potatoes were very good, complex potatoes. There was bread too, that was only okay. A little too hard. I prefer very soft bread! The service was good considering they were getting slammed. One small mistake with the salad dressing, but no big deal. Overall a 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely! Lastly their parking lot is way too small. People have to park along country highway M22. That seems very dangerous when there's so much land around it.

My family of 4 had a reservation for a Wednesday at 7:30 and were seated after a 10-15 min wait. We had fish and chips, steak, trout, and whitefish (sides of baked potato and carrot bisque), along with one glass of wine, coffee, a slice of key lime and a slice of pumpkin cheesecake. Cost was about $160 without tip. They also charge a fee for using a credit card. I wish the food was better because it was just solidly average and uninspired. Even my son who loves most steak thought the steak was lackluster. Nothing was bad, just average. I may have been more disappointed in the dessert which tasted similar to something out of the supermarket freezer aisle (pie seemed recently and not fully defrosted). Service was good.

I have been coming to the Manitou for decades at this point, I think I first visited in 1999? I live out of state now. But made a trip up north again for the 4th. I think it may have been 9 or 10 years between trips but this place is still the same. Amazing. The restaurant is kind of like a converted cabin with some awesome decor, the vibe is immaculate. Tucked into the woods. Everyone is very friendly. It was easy to make a reservation just call at some point that same day and they will work with you to get you in. I have dreams about their fried whitefish, and it did not disappoint. It is just as good as I remember it all these years later. I would happily pay $100, $200 for a plate of it. I don't know what voodoo magic they practice to get it to taste the way it does, but it's crispy on the outside, succulent in the middle, the tartar sauce puts it over the edge. I'm hesitant to even write this review because part of me wants to gatekeep it but anyone who writes less than a 5 star review clearly didn't have the whitefish. If you are looking for something cheap then go get a hotdog at 7-11 or something, I don't know what to tell you. The prices are not outrageous but you get what you pay for. It was $80, $100 with tip for two and some drinks for my girlfriend. You're on vacation, enjoy yourself and get the whitefish.

The staff, cabin atmosphere and food are always wonderful here! Pictured is a basket of skinny dippers (garlic salted potato skins) and craft cocktails.

Terrible food a service was horrendous. They say fine dining, but use paper, napkins, place is a joke.

Excellent food, service good. Unfortunately, google & apple maps are both wrong. Manitou is 9 miles north of Frankfort. Visited 9/1/13

The food was good, but so over-priced it ruined the meal. The beer alone was $6.00. Really?

Villa Marine Bar is the place you visit if you want cheap drinks and a beautiful view! My husband and I visited two nights in a row and didn't leave disappointed. They had a drink special for a pomegranate margarita and it was delicious! I also tried the blackberry margarita and no complaints. I've never had a drink from the Villa Marine Bar and questioned if there was alcohol in it because you test it instantly haha. The staff at the Villa Marine Bar are friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was new to waitressing (she told it was her first shift) and it was amazing seeing how patient everyone was with her. She was awesome and even remembered my group the next day when we visited. I was able to try the popcorn chicken during my first visit. It was okay but as I mentioned earlier, you go to the Villa Marine Bar for the drinks. Most of the people I observed were there for the drinks. The view of the marina was lovely. I visited right before the sun started setting so it was nice to see the color change of the sky.

It appeared to be a sports bar and restaurant from how it was decorated and the TV sets playing Tennis. Our server seated us, quickly took our drink order and got our breakfast menus. I ordered the Two Egg breakfast (eggs over easy, Sourdough toast) and my wife got the Big Breakfast, (eggs medium) which she wanted for the pancakes. The meals took a while even though the place wasn't busy. We soon found out the eggs had been switched. Her's were easy over and mine were medium. So we switched the eggs. My easy over eggs were not fully cooked before they were flipped. My wife's medium eggs were cooked perfectly. However neither egg dish was salted or peppered while being cooked. The pancakes were perfect however. Light, fluffy, and delicious!' She shares one with me and I agreed, delicious, light and fluffy. Her hash browns were not cooked except on the surface. Mine were cooked nicely. However again the hash browns were not salted or peppered during cooking as far as I could tell. All and all the food was good for a breakfast place and the serving sizes were adequate for what we ordered.

The drinks were the highlight of our visit, and the food has mixed opinions at our table. I would highly recommend the a Mango Margarita because it tasted so fresh and refreshing! I also enjoyed the Sangria Swirl for a nice berry twist on their margarita mix. And the Mexican lollipop was delicious and the flavors mixed so well that the taste of alcohol was very minor. The coconut margarita was good but pretty plain compared to the other drinks as expected. The Queso Dip was really unique. I probably wouldn't order it again as it's very different from the runny white queso we love so much. This one was thicker and tasted like it has Brie cheese in it, similar texture too where it kinda sticks together and is not runny The Steak Fajitas were tasty and came with so much! The steak seemed a little tough but had good flavor. The Roadhouse Quesadilla was okay. Chicken seemed okay but there was so much cheese that it didn't hold together well, maybe it was cut into too many pieces though. The pineapple salsa on the side was so good though! I really loved the atmosphere here, the seating is mixed between indoor and outdoor, half of the outdoor seating is grad a drink while you wait, but again, everyone is so nice that you barely notice the wait! A little caution with sitting outside is that bugs/flies do really wanna taste your food too which can be annoying but there's nothing you can really do about it. Our wait was estimated to be 1 hour 15 minutes, but we were seating in around 45-50 minutes. I was surprised with how busy it was on a Tuesday night, but it is the week of 4th of July!

My girlfriend got the chicken burrito. Both meals fantastic! My best part was their fresh salsa that they make. I could not stop eating it, drinking it.! just kidding on the drinking it but they do sell it to go and I sure did buy some. Must try restaurant I would go back for the drive which is three hours north of me to enjoy another delicious meal.
