Dr. Ivchenko you SLAYED my appointment today! I've been getting my lips done for about 5 or 6 years now and with my regular doctor closing his Manhattan office due to Covid- I was on the hunt for a new spot. Found Manhattan Medspa on Groupon (which I'm very weary about) so immediately cross checked them on several other platforms, including and most importantly on Yelp to help me validate the business. They looked great on here so I made the appointment! Fast forward to today, my appointment day. I'm used to lip injection appointments being kind of a drag and usually drawn out by a long wait, 30 mins of numbing etc. But hell no NOT HERE! They were FABULOUS! Here's why: I live in UES now and hate showing up late anywhere so I took the subway and got there like 40 minutes early lol. They were gracious enough to take me in right away instead of making me wait until my 3pm slot. I saw Dr. Artur Ivchenko who is an M.D. which I absolutely loved. Not just a nurse practitioner or dentist, but an actual doctor! He was soooo light handed and made it so painless I didn't even need numbing beforehand! He took the time to answer my questions about why faces droop in depth and always made sure to let me check the mirror after every few injections to ensure we were on the same page. VERY talented with a needle! Guys, this spot is a diamond in the rough. And the gentleman at the front desk who books all the appointments was so quick and helped me set up my appointment late last night. Manhattan Medspa - This is 3 days after my Botox treatment - Medical Spas Near Me - New York, New York

Before coming to Med Spa on 23rd st, I had done 2 VI Peel at a different place for dark spots under eyes. Then, I saw a Groupon deal with Med Spa for the same treatment at a price $80 less. One of the biggest skin care mistakes that I've ever made. When it comes to treatment like this, nobody should make a decision based on a price. The esthetician rubbed my skin with the gauze extremely aggressively the whole time, especially on the dark spots, which was very different from my previous experiences with VI peel - the esthetician at the previous place was very gentle and cautious. Within 2 days, my skin on the trouble spots, where the esthetician was particularly aggressive, started developing scabs, which had never happened before. Throughout the following week, the scabs fell off little by little until they were completely gone. But they left ugly red scars behind. I was hoping they would eventually disappear. But after 5 weeks, they are still there and as red as ever. I suppose the esthetician was trying to create scars on purpose in order to stimulate collagen production to lighten the dark spots. The sad thing is where the red scars are left behind had no dark spots before. They were clean as you can see in "before" picture. Now, I have these red scars in addition to dark spots and they are not fading for some reason. Response to the Owner's comment: My appointment was on 7/26 so I admit it was my miscalculation that it hasn't been 5 weeks but 4 weeks, but definitely over 3 1/2 weeks. Regardless, is it normal that the scars are still there after 4 weeks? As for the post care, I do not use retinol, or any acid product. I am very strict about using SPF, covering my face with umbrella when being exposed to the sun when walking on the street. This was not my first time doing VI peel so I know very well how to take care of my skin post peel. The reason why I didn't reach out to you is exactly because of the waive form you made me sign. What would you have done for me after the damage is already done? Even now, instead of taking accountability, you insinuate it's my fault that I didn't take care of my skin post peel is really appalling. Also, how would you explain the scars created on previously clean spots unnecessarily? Even it it was on the trouble spots, I've never seen or heard of anybody having scabs after the peel resulting in scars. read more

I'm making this review because I know there's woman of color seeking these kinds of treatments but don't see much reviews done by people that look like them. I've got two treatments here, hydrofacial and a Radio Frequency treatment that's aka "Fractioned Radio Frequency". The hydrofacial was fine, I had no problems with it. The reason I am giving them a 3 stars out of 5 stars is because I was in SO MUCH pain during my RF treatment. I literally felt everything. Numbing cream was applied but I was told it would only be on for 15 minutes. I'm like "Okay" I had no idea this treatment would be so painful. I also asked the doctor multiple times what treatment would fade hyperpigmentation as I was confused by their website. It mentioned services for hyperpigmentation but whenever I clicked it, it kept bring me to laser services. The Dr told me this isn't laser but on the invoice it was marked as "Fractional Laser"??? Anyways, I am so far loving my results but it just sucks that it was so painful because as I am researching more and more, other people had numbing cream for 45-90 minutes before treatment. Their doctor also applied a thin plastic onto the cream for more effectiveness. I probably will not do this treatement again at this location but somewhere else as I can't imagine going through such pain again. I literally was sweating, then after given an ice pack to put on top which I also read isn't a good idea but yellow light therapy is, which I didn't receive. I was rushed out the room because another client had to be in that same specific room I guess. read more

I found the offer on Groupon and actually gave them a call to pay them directly and gave me the same deal! I was greeted by a very happy and welcoming receptionist who actually was the owner and over all the office was very clean. They followed COVID-19 protocols. They were clear and helped me pick out the best options. I went for Botox and lip injections (previously had the injections done somewhere else but wanted more volume). The first consult was for lip injections and to inject Botox and we made a second appointment for the actual lip injections. Botox was quick and easy, and they offer a guarantee and even fix anything a week after if you notice any spots that were missed free of charge! The doctor was FANTASTIC. I am an absolute wimp with needles and she went slow, they used a cannula and there was only a bit of discomfort (to be expected). There was little to no bruising and the recover was overall pretty smoot I will only be coming here for lip injections and Botox. read more

Mixed review - the facilities are clean and desk staff is organized and friendly. My esthetician put no botox in my upper nose area, where I pointed out I have an obvious horizontal line with a lighter line below it. We discussed my priority was my "11" between my eyes and those horizontal lines. She asked about crows feet and I told her I was fine there and then she asked about my forehead. I showed her a small forehead line that bothered me a little bit, but that it was my second priority. I was clear I was there for the lines between my eyes and if she had any units left, she could get that small line in my forehead. She got the 11 between my eyes, but completely skipped the horizontal lines and mostly concentrated on my forehead for some reason, including going all the way into my hairline. She explained she couldn't just get that small line in my forehead, but needed to do my entire forehead. She's the expert and this would have been fine, had she prioritized what I told her I was there for. I assumed she had gotten those lines between my eyes, but when I got home, I realized she had not. After botox, you can see every spot where the needle entered. It was clear she skipped over exactly where I said I needed most help. She also told she could make my lips and cheeks "look beautiful". I am beautiful and while I know she's a salesperson, I found this a little insulting, especially since her cheeks are distorted and her lips look like she got stung by a hive of bees. Really gross. Lastly, as I was leaving, I overheard some conversation in the reception area where the receptionist seemed to be responding to her, explaining to that they "oftentimes get return clients this way", so I assume she asked him about my groupon? Just an educated guess on that based on what I witnessed, but either way, it was a weird conversation for a client to overhear. In the meantime, my forehead looks like you can ice skate across it, a look that appears fake and something I didn't want at all and I'll head to a different salon to get the horizontal lines taken care of. Horrible. After nearly a month I still have visible lumps, some that are in the wrong place. I'm finally going to massage them away. I was also injected into a place I specifically said do not inject. Two year post surgical edema there. I didn't realize at the time she'd gone there but felt the lump afterwards. Not good!! I also have indents under the apples of my cheeks I never had before. No they are not dimples. I was bruised all over my face post injection. I have had this filler before with my prep -- arnica & no alcohol -- and never had these problems. Would not return or recommend. read more

I really wanted to like this spa, but unfortunately I was very displeased with the service I received. I originally found Manhattan Medspa on Groupon. I called to see when I could make an appointment before buying the Groupon, as I needed to make an appointment a few weeks before an event. They called and said if I didn't but the Groupon, that they would honor the price. I was able to make an appointment the next week. When I arrived, I was greeted by two individuals at the desk who were very friendly. I filled out paperwork and soon saw the doctor that would be doing my lip injections. He introduced himself and inspected my lips I told him that I had done lip injections several times in the past, but this was my first time getting my lips done in over a year. He inspected my lips and I remember one of the first things he asked me was if I had gotten lumps from the injections before - no, I hadn't. I was confused and that kind of made me nervous. I asked if I had any lumps now and he said no, that the injections from before were pretty much gone, so I was starting fresh. He then showed me a picture of an old Hollywood starlet on the wall and said that her shape and proportion is the optimal look when it comes to lips. I was a little disappointed at this, because 1) what is popular and beautiful in the 40s/50s is definitely not in trend now - a lot of women nowadays want a bigger upper lip, not a bigger lower lip and 2) I am a woman of color, and the lip shape of what I prefer and what would look best on me may be different that what a Caucasian woman may desire. But anyways, I showed him a picture of me the last time I got lip injections and told him that's what I wanted and he was okay with doing that. The entire procedure took about 20 minutes start to finish. This was the quickest appointment for lip injections I've ever had. I've gotten my lips done a few times, and I became VERY concerned about the lack of massaging that this doctor did after he was injecting my lips. He barely massaged my lips and just focused on injecting it in the right areas. When I left, my lips looked great - but after a week - my lips were a mess. As the photos show, the results were HORRIBLE. Lumpy, bumpy lips. I called after a week to see if the lumps would go down because this had never happened to me before, and Jason, the receptionist, told me it's probably because I had lip injections before (again, this has never happened to me and why is he saying this without being the one to examine my lips???). He asked if I wanted to doctor to check it out and I made an appointment that I never went to - I went to my old spa to get these injections dissolved and had them put it new filler. Honestly, I think this doctor graduated and decided there is money in injectables and decided to see patients for these services without formal training on fillers and injectables. Please do your research because doctors do not have to be trained (like other nurses or professionals that do injections) so it is common that they start injecting patients without the proper experience. Be careful about cheap lip injections! Edit: This edit is in reference to the reply by Jason. I'm not sure if he is trying to accuse me of not being a client of theirs because they say my pictures do not resemble what is in their file. I have also added the message that was sent by Henry on behalf of Jason asking if I would like to receive lip injections or another service by a licensed provider. Clearly they know they botched my face and wanted to offer to fix it by someone else. When I did not respond to this message, Jason then replied to this post. Sorry, but I would not like to get botched again by this place. Like I said in my initial review, I have had lip injections several times before and have never had these uneven lumpy results before. Showing me Elizabeth Taylor's lips and stating that her lip ratio is the ideal ratio is, in fact, imposing beauty standards. This place is seriously awful. I went in with my mother for lip injections and the first time we went they were kind and the receptionist was helpful. However, my mother went back in for a check up and Mr. Artur Ivchenko who had done my mother's injections the first time got aggravated and began to argue with my mother asking her what she wants. We had spoken to the receptionist prior to her appointment about purchasing only half a syringe of juvederm for her second injection and when this subject was brought up, Mr Ivchenko called my mother a liar and the receptionist completely denied saying such a thing. I seriously regret ever coming here and paying for this awful service and letting this man even perform any type of service on me. Seriously take your money and go some place else. You can do so much better than to come spend your well earned money in a place that provides awful service. I went to another esthetic office to do my second syringe and the doctor was seriously shocked at how bad my first syringe was done by Mr. Ivchenko.
