Broad menu but execution is mostly...meh... Massaman Curry is great, Lo Mein is a hot mess (unseasoned except for being way too sweet.) Tuna and California rolls were par for the course. One particularly meh moment- sushi rolls, rice, and lo mein were packed in the same closed bag with no divider. I'm so happy I finally got to try Korean BBQ. This place was so good, we went 2 nights in a row. The first night we had the salmon tempura roll, krab angels, and the bulgogi. The sushi was good! But my favorite was the bulgogi it was so flavorful and tender. You can opt to have it cooked in the kitchen or cook it yourself. I would say cook it yourself since it adds to the whole experience. It comes with like 5 different sides like lettuce, kimchi, steamed rice, black beans, bok choy, the sauce was a bit too spicy for me so I stayed away from that one. The next night we ordered the L.A galbi which is short rib marinated in Korean bbq sauce and thinly sliced across the bone. It was also very good. For sushi we went with the shrimp tempura and ordered the steamed shrimp shumai. The food came out fast and the service was excellent. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in the area. Solid Asian restaurant and now my go-to when I'm craving anything from Sushi to K-bbq and even Thai (sorry, Pho Viet will still be there for my soup fix). The restaurant space is moderately sized, but during busy times you may feel slightly claustrophobic due to how close together some of the tables were. The menu has a lot of variety from a variety of cultures, but the main attraction is the Korean barbecue, and the sushi. The Korean barbecue can be grilled at the table (not every table has this possibility) or cooked in the kitchen. The sushi is amazing and there are a lot of options. The sushi plates all look beautiful when they come out, and for the price they offer a large amount of sushi that tastes amazing! When I went, a majority of the staff was new and so the restaurant came off as very unorganized. I was blown away with how attentive the manager was however! She made sure to explain the situation, and spent the rest of the evening making sure we were okay. I am 100% coming back to this amazing restaurant! read more

We had our sights on another restaurant, but they closed early. In the mood for Asian we found Mangetsu. Well as they say things happen for a reason we were extremely pleased with both the service and the food. We arrived 45 minutes before closing and never felt rushed. The food was excellent. My wife and daughter shared an order of short ribs and chicken satay. Very tasty. I had the kimchi rice and an order of unagi sashimi. An excellent choice. My other daughters got the pad Thai and the chicken katsu. Both were right on. This place will be on our rotation when we are back in town. Try it out - it's a winner. read more

I have been wanting to try this place out for so long and it was totally worth the wait! My mom didn't want too much spice so our very kind waitress assisted her with going over several entrees on the menu. I was stuck between the LA Galbi and the special of the day which was Bulgogi Fried Rice. My mom ended up ordering the Dolsot Bibimbap and I got the LA Galbi. Both came with the miso soup which was very yummy and had a good amount of greens and tofu. I tried a bit of my mom's dish and wasn't a big fan of the flavor, but the LA Galbi was perfection. It came out steaming hot and full of flavor. I ate the dish with the provided lettuce leaves for wraps. They also provide scissors to make cutting the meat easy. I was so hungry and the dish was so delicious, I ended up eating it all (and I'm a firm believer in leftovers lol). The restaurant only had one or two other tables when we arrived, but by the time we left there was line. I can't wait to come back and try the sushi or Thai dishes. If you're not familiar with downtown, parking can be limited. If there are no spaces in front of the restaurant, check the parking lot in back. read more

We drove from St. Cloud to try this place - the reviews (positive) were right! The food was fresh and delicious. We had ahi tuna appetizer, Korean beef veggie and rice bowl (bibimum?) and shrimp curry noodle bowl. Several dishes with things to add to our meals were brought, including kimchi, pickled onions, seaweed and veggies, etc. We loved the flavors and the servers were very helpful in explaining the dishes to us. I like there new location much better. Its in downtown, so it's street parking. Mainly Korean foods with Japanese & Thai also. Asian decor with friendly waitresses. There are grills on the tables to self cook preseasoned meats. You get 6 different complimentary cold kimches to try, some are spicy. Bimbibap is a Korean style fried rice in a sizzling hot pot mix everything together 1st. Love their kimche fried rice w pork yum. Their desserts look amazing from mochi ice cream to tempura cheese cake. Definitely coming back to try more dishes. read more

I am on a Dukan diet/protein diet and my friend suggested me to eat Korean barbeque at this restaurant. The restaurant is fully packed on a Friday night. Not sure if it's because of almost weekend or people just have their payday. It was so so busy. We were lucky that we got the table quickly, however we couldn't do the live bbq/grill on our table. So our plan all are changed. Then when we wanted to have bento, it's only for lunch. So at the end we decided to order Beef bulgogi, Chicken bulgogi, Kimchi fried rice and Galbi. For the meats entree we got ginger dressing salad or miso soup as well as rice, and Max our server was very patience. Among 4 of us, the customers, I am the only asian and all are new to Korean food however as an asian, I am also not so well knowledgeable about Korean food especially when the kimchi and 5 other condiments in small platters came, I mostly didn't know until I tasted each condiment. Max went through the menu one by one with us, gave a great recommendation, honest on which items is fatty or not (due to our protein diet restrictions). Max accommodated all our request in every possible way. Will definitely come back just because of his extramile service, beyond our expectation as a first timer. Keep up the good work Max! I had a Korean dish that was really nice with a wide variety of little side additions that were all very tasty ranging from sweet and mild to spicy kim chee. Service was great. We had been dying to try this place and finally got to on Saturday. It was pretty busy and we had a slight wait. The restaurant was pretty warm but not unbearable, maybe just turn the AC up a notch or two. I ordered monkey brain, Cali roll and a volcano roll and they were fresh and excellent. My husband I shared the summer spring rolls and they were delicious. Service was a little slow but seeing as they were very busy we didn't mind. My husband ordered a chicken dish that he loves. I had dinner there a couple weeks ago with my family and it was some of the best service I've ever received at a restaurant. All the staff works together seamlessly! The food came out quick, they made sure our waters were always full, and an empty plate wasn't there for more than 30 seconds before they came to clear it. My husband had the beef bulgogi, which was a huge portion. We also shared the tempura appetizer, which was delicious. I had a large bowl of soup, my mom had a delicious sushi roll and my dad had volcano chicken. My dad actually said it's his new favorite meal in town, and that's saying something considering how picky he is lol the old owners were always great and I'm very thankful Mangetsu is open again under new ownership! I hate to write this review, but 4 of us dined here last night. Not only was the Korean food not good (years ago it was amazing) but the service was terrible. We had to flag down the waiter for more water and Banchan. The waiter did not get my order correct and I ordered Japchae (my favorite) We have eaten at many Korean restaurants over the years and this was by far very disappointing. The server finally brings us our bill and he had added himself and 18% tip for a table of 4. I am sure he was hoping we would not notice and give him another tip, but we did. Just be careful here. I want to start by saying that I have never had Korean BBQ before, so I don't have anything to compare this experience to. The restaurant was pretty busy, and they were short on staff, so we had to wait a bit for food, but everyone was very friendly and apologetic about the wait. Even though they were busy and short on staff, they still kept our drinks full, which we appreciated. My husband and I both ordered the Beef Bulgogi to grill at our table, and our daughter ordered the tofu pad thai. Honestly, my husband and I were not very impressed with the food, especially for the price (the Bulgogi was $17.95/each). It may just be that we don't enjoy Korean BBQ, but I'm not sure because I don't have anything to compare it to. The Bulgogi wasn't bad. It had good flavor, and texture. Neither one of us really enjoyed any of the small dishes that it came with. Overall, I just felt like everything was too sweet. My daughter loved her tofu pad thai. I tried it, and also thought it was very good. It was a very large portion for the price. read more

We went here on a Saturday night and it was a fun experience. We called ahead to make reservations because we wanted to try one of the tables with the cooktop. There is ample seating but if you want a cooktop, it is probably best to call ahead because I believe they only have 5-6 tables. If you don't get a cooktop, you can have the professionals in the kitchen make your Korean Grill food and from what I saw go past our table it all looked very good. We started off with the shrimp tempura appetizer which was very good. The tempura sauce was delicious. For our main meal we both ordered something from the Korean Grill. I had the LA Galbi which is beef short ribs. My boyfriend had the Bulgogi. Both were very good. You cooked the meat on the infrared cook top on the table and we were brought twelve little dishes filled with yummy sides and a bowl of rice. One of the sides was kimchi and it was the best I ever had. It was so good that we asked for another serving of it. I have no idea what all the dishes were but they were good. They also have a very extensive Thai menu as well. So there is something for everyone. I went with Korean just because I always order Thai. Service: Our waitress was very sweet and very slow. Fortunately, the owners and another waiter came by to remove plates, refill water, and bring more sake. It would have been nice to know what all the side dishes were and how to cook our meat. She basically just placed everything in front of us and we figured it out. One of the owners (I believe) came by to help because we probably looked a little confused. This place just opened four weeks ago so I expect some hiccups. It wasn't that big of a deal but the service could be a little more polished. Atmosphere: This restaurant has been many things and they have done a good job at trying to make it fit the Korean/Thai theme. They have televisions in the booths (probably left from the previous restaurant) but I certainly won't complain about having a small TV on the wall of my booth playing ESPN. That's a good thing for me! There were televisions all around but it wasn't distracting. It was warm in the restaurant and when you turned on the cooktop at the table it was really warm. Overall it was a fun dining experience. The place is spotless. The food is good and authentic. This location has been jinxed for years and I hope they make it. We will definitely be back. read more

My wife and I went here with our Army son on leave and the youngest as well. The Army son is on leave between his stay in South Korea and before he reports to his next assignment. We were going to visit him out there, but never got the chance - hence, Mangetsu comes into play. We wanted to try Korean and from my fellow Yelpers it seemed like a good place to go. And from what we experienced - it was a wonderful experience. Mangetsu is located in right near the river with access to the beach just a left turn away. The location is nice, the decor is inviting and hip, and the staff were super friendly. We had the traditional beef and chicken BBQ, cooked right at our table (a la other places we all know). It really added to the festive feelings we all had coming in to begin with. The sides that comes with the dishes were all fresh and prepared for presentation, and their authentic bamboo-filtered wine has quite the potent kick to it. The waitress was learning - but had a shadower who helped and she was super cool with our antics through the dinner. Dessert-wise they had some interesting offerings that we all loved, and if it weren't for the fact we were already stuffed, we might have had more. The place is a bit pricey, but for a special occasion, when you want to try something other than the tired, old, big-box restaurant schtick, this is definitely a place we will come back with friends. read more
