The first time I went, I did one streak of highlight called a flash highlight (over 200$) to test the waters and it turned out great, so I came back expecting the same quality. This time was completely different. Paige double-booked another client and had her assistant handle most of my appointment. The assistant was extremely rough while washing my hair even after I repeatedly asked her to be gentle. She seemed annoyed that I said something and actually handed me the brush and said "do you want to brush it?" I shouldn't have to explain the same thing twice to her assistant when I already paid for a consultation to make sure this wouldn't happen. Paige barely checked in, didn't review my foils before they were rinsed, and my hair came out yellow and orange instead of the cool blonde I asked for. I didn't even get to choose the toner or discuss the results before being told by the assistant to pay. I also asked for thicker highlights and ended up with baby lights that looked uneven in tone. I walked out in tears and paid $265 for results that look like I used a bottle of Sun-In at home. I'm beyond frustrated and will not be going back. Letting an inexperienced assistant take over while charging full price is completely unacceptable.

The stylist (again, I wish I knew her name!) talked to me while she washed my hair and together we figured out what kind of style to do for the wedding. We decided to do a sleek blowout because I typically wore my hair straight as is. I really loved that she didn't try to pressure me into a different style as well. My makeup was AMAZING! She made sure to ask questions to make sure of what I wanted and that I was comfortable with everything. I mentioned that I prefer a more natural look and every step of the way I was asked if I wanted something darker or lighter. I felt like my time and opinions were, which isn't something about every salon I've been to. Overall I plan on driving to Grand Rapids just to get my hair done again. I know that sounds crazy since I live in Metro Detroit but that's how much I loved my experience! Well worth the drive!

I went to Monique after a decade of using a flat iron on a daily basis, and about 12 years of chemical straighteners. My hair was brassy, lifeless, and would not hold color.
