It's probably been a decade or more since I last stepped into a Mandarin location, and normally it wouldn't be my pick, but I'll gladly go if I'm invited. Given some diet restrictions for some in my family, it was easier to just hit up a buffet. This review is just their lunch experience. Let's start with the pros: - I was pleasantly greeted by the staff, and even the manager came to our table personally to ensure that we had a great experience and that we were taken care of. - One of my family members also got a free meal since it was around his birthday. I'm not sure if it's because it's his birthday, but we also had a free family picture taken and printed on the spot and framed as a magnet to take home as a souvenir. - The tacky Chinese decor. Yes it's a pro because it totally matches the aesthetic I'd expect for a chain Chinese buffet. - Great value for all you can eat, especially for lunch. It certainly beats out in price compared to authentic dim sum. There are dim sum items you can choose here. - The Westernized Chinese food is good. Think General Tso's Chicken, chicken wings, noodles, etc. Fried items are good too. Ribs and shrimp. Beef with mushrooms is nice and tender highly recommend. Shrimp and clams are good too. - We went near Chinese New Year and got a red pocket with a little lucky Chinese coin. You can use it in their koi pond in the waiting area or just keep it as a souvenir. - Good variety of desserts to choose from: cakes, ice cream, and fresh waffles. Cons: - Sashimi is not fresh, with chewy fish. I couldn't bring myself to even eat one piece. It's a shame though; probably should just skip the sushi section altogether. - Some of the items are overcooked and dry, including the roast beef, and the baked teriyaki salmon. It's a bit hit and miss with the food, but the appeal is getting to try so many different items, you'll bound to find things you love. Service is overall great, and it's nice that they also offer complimentary birthday meals and souvenirs for guests.

Wow!!! Outside of Disneyland (which probably doesn't count,) this is the best buffet I've had outside of Vegas. Service was extremely attentive, decor was spectacular, selection was good and quality was amazing! If you're visiting the Toronto area, I fully recommend visiting Mandarin. It is definitely an experience and I look forward to coming back :)

Crème Brulee and a Chocolate covered strawberry are my favorite desserts here.

I've been to three Mandarins, and this is so far is the best out of the three. The decor is much more toned down; I can't stand gaudy, over-the-top decor. Food is similar except for the creme brulee YUM! Service is more upbeat and happy, as well as efficient in clearing plates, topping off water glasses and taking pictures for their patrons. What surprised me was that they handed out pre-moistened, scented washcloths before AND after our meal. It's the little details that earn an extra star for this branch.

I really enjoyed Mandarin for the first time in a long time. The service here is outstanding, and for a busy Friday evening you would of thought it would be impossible since its holiday season. The food was very good and quality, no complaints about anything

Nice. Nothing special. Plenty of selection but the food isn't phenomenal. Table service was pretty good.

Another must try is their cucumber peanut salad & all these options are pretty affordable(appetizers under 5$) The portion size is great, I could hardly finish a plate of noodles. I wanted to try Peking Duck and got clued into J&Y as one of the best options to try which did not disappoint. The Peking Duck was so tender, so flavorful and so wonderfully succulent. It was perfectly prepared and sliced with the fat rendered and thinly sliced. The wraps were not the monstrous steamed buns but traditional translucent wraps which are super thin, soft and pliable. Scallions, cucumber, hoisin sauce completed each wrap which highlighted the duck. Definitely the best traditional Peking Duck preparation I've had in a very very long time. The remains of the duck were used for make a duck fried rice and duck soup, again both were amazing. It takes a certain skill to make fried rice cleanly without an excessive oily coating on each grain of rice. This was one of the best fried rices I've ever had! No gratuitous mushy frozen peas needlessly added either. Well seasoned fried pork ribs and veggies completed the courses I had, everything was truly wonderful and I hope to revisit again.

Btw the red bean soup was so seriously diluted! Overall poor service and too much upselling by restaurant made for a bad experience

I ordered a combo which comes with a selection of noodles/chow mein, a small appetizer, and drink. I chose their traditional Lanzhou beef noodle (you also get to choose what type of noodle to get. I forgot to take pics, but their portions are very generous for the price. Their noodles are hand pulled and you can really tell the difference in the quality. It's more bouncy and filling as they have more substance to them. Their service was very attentive and quick, and while the space of the restaurant is fairly small, there was no wait for 2 of us at 6:30 on a Saturday. Coming with a bigger group may be tougher considering the space. My total bill came to just under $26 after tax and tip, which is very reasonable for the amount and quality of food I got. No complaints at all and I'll definitely be back to an Omni Noodle location for comfort value eats.

It comes with sides of pickled "sour" veggies (酸菜), cabbage, tofu, and hard boiled egg. The pork knuckle almost melts in your mouth and is so decadent with the BBQ sauce.
