Pretty decent for Americanized Chinese food. Fried dumplings are thin skinned which Isn't what I'm used to but still good with pork meat and the tasty soy sauce Yang chow fried rice didn't have much taste but the ingredients such as shrimps, chicken, and veggies were fresh. I ended up adding some of my home soy sauce to it to make it salty Crab Rangoon was fresh and hot and tasty! Comes in a package of 10 which is great. Ordered and paid online and pickup was easy. I would give about 20 minutes for online orders to be ready. About 3 parties came to pick up while I was waiting. There's parking right out front. read more

Maybe it was because I came in 25min before they closed, but my food was terrible. I've eaten at dozens of these kind of places all over the WORLD and by FAR, this was THE worst Asian Food I've ever had. Since I've never been to this restaurant before I didn't know and wasn't familiar with their menu. I asked if they made Pineapple Fried rice. She said yes. I asked if the chicken was white meat, she said It'd be a $2 upcharge. Ok. Let's do it. I also ordered Crab Rangoon and fried potstickers. It took about 30 min to make it. No problem. I can wait in my car. I was informed that it would be ready at 8pm. At 8:12pm I was handed a paper sack, thanked and bid goodnight. I drove the food the 3 minutes back to my hotel to eat and as I'm removing the items, I'm noticing a wierd smell and some unfamiliar items. I pull out the Rangoon, which I love and always order and after one bite I spit it out in my hand and pushed them aside. The wonton wrapper was not fully cooked and they were doughy. The whole thing was leathery to chew. Not crispy and the inside was bland. The "fried rice", wasnt a natural color either and had a funky taste. So, my gut was saying to push it aside. The egg roll was so greasy and tasted bad also that they were thrown into the trash next. The potstickers were bland and the sauce tasted watered down. They were probably the most edible, but after two I threw those in the trash also. I tossed everything in the garbage. All $36 of it. This place must be hit or miss... definitely an off night. Glad I live elsewhere and not stuck with this place as my only local Asian Cusine option. The food preparation was poor. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and just say it was bad because they just wanted to get out of there and go home. Just yuck. One last thing that concerned me that I noticed... the counter girl took a paper towel and set about dabbing the pot stickers in the serving container they were put in. Not sure why this was necessary and the sauce dip cup was removed from a fridge and placed directly on top of the freshly prepared food. This is my favorite chinese restaurant!! My kids and I have been going here since it was open and I'm still a big fan. The crab ragoons are the best around. We get 2-3 orders when we go every time. They teriyaki chicken is a family favorite too. I like the option of adding additional meat and vegetables for a small fee. It helps me save money not having to order an extra dinner. You can adjust the spiciness of your food. For convenience you can order online. This place may be small on space buts it big on taste and quality. This is my second review. I absolutely love Mandarin Kitchen! I ordered the steamed dumplings again and once again...they were perfection. They are the best steamed dumplings I have ever had. Now add their crab Rangoon to the "perfect" list. I had to try them so I added these to my order. Each one was a delicacy. They were prepared just right. Not over done, but golden and delicious. I also ordered the shrimp lo mein and it was superb as well. It was so flavorful and full of shrimp. Great Food! Very large menu (typical of this type of restaurant) so it is easy to satisfy everyone in your group. The food portions are HUGE! I am a fan of their Hot and Sour Soup. I know that's a pretty simple dish and you can get some form of it at any Chinese place, but theirs is CHOCK full of mushrooms and is so tasty! I'm also a fan of their curry dishes, spicy and flavorful, not overpowering. The kitchen has real skill. The folks that own the place are just awesome as well. Service was curt with a whiff of rudeness. They were adamant about closing at 9:30 because the family doesn't eat until the customers are gone. This place is right around the corner from my office and I am constantly ordering the egg drop wonton soup in the winter time. The food is good, fast and cheap. I recommend this place of you like fast and decent Chinese food. I have been a customer since this restaurant has opened. It's a family owned restaurant and it's been fun to watch this family grow up. I always do take out and it has been super convenient since they added online ordering. The food is always great and the staff is friendly and always careful with their orders. The last time I was there they were going over my order and realized they didn't make an order of eggrolls, so they comped me the eggrolls and added some free cookies for the 5 extra minutes I had to wait. I love that the food is made to order and everything is fresh not frozen. The other negative comments total baffle me because I have always found the prices very affordable and the service great. read more

I was looking for a quick fix of Chinese food in an area of town I normally don't get Chinese at, so I thought I would try it. Whoever said General Tso's was best in Elkhart must only go there because I had mediocre food at best. Not really spicy more like frozen warmed to tepid with no seasoning or sauce. Fried rice lacking taste and looked to be held in a warmer for lengthy time as it was turning mushy. Hot and sour soup...well more like warm and little taste to it. Place was great 3 years ago. Everything has gone down hill since then. Today I came in and ordered the bourbon chicken lunch special. What I got was non breaded chicken in a bland tasteless brown liquid. Everywhere else that I have gone Bourbon chicken has a nice sweet tasting sauce. Not here. The Wonton soup was bland also. The meat in the wonton was almost non existent and had no flavoring in it. The actual broth was yellow dyed water with no chicken flavor. I saw a crab leg on the floor. The table was sticky. I couldn't tell you the last time the floor was mopped. There was food crumbs all over by the pop cooler. read more
