Pot stickers were good but sauce was not as tasty as I pictured. He liked his chicken but the sauce was on the side. Wasn't the same as if it was smothered on it originally. This was my first time ordering from China Star. I had the goveners chicken with house fried rice and 2 egg rolls. The flavor was excellent BUT the chicken was overcooked and dry and chewy. The house fried rice was average. Now the egg rolls were superb along with their sweet and sour sauce took them over the top. My wife had their vegetable Lo Mein which was the star of our dinner. The noodles were incredible and vegetables were so flavorful. The portions are huge and our order was ready in 15 min. Needless to say this is our new go to Chinese restaurant. read more

I'll start by saying that I haven't eaten at China Star in a few years, but I grew up eating at their restaurant at Parkmore Plaza and at the restaurant on CR17 which is where I picked up my carry out. Vastly different. I ordered cashew chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce, plain fried rice, two egg rolls and an order of crab Rangoon. All of it was just okay. Hardly any chicken in the chicken cashew... huge chunks of vegetables that took up most of the container it came in. Shrimp with lobster sauce was completely soup consistency. Even rice didn't help to thicken it. Crab Rangoon was pathetic in terms of having an actual filing inside the pastry itself. This was a disappointing experience and most likely we will not order from here again. There are better options to choose from locally. read more

I grew up eating this place occasionally, and I always do remember it being a bit expensive and somewhat less desirable to my palette. But man.. this is so bad I'll probably never order again. I could enjoy stuff here as a kid and now it's just stale, fatty proteins and gross Got pea pod chicken for a friend and it's all tough and gristly beyond belief. I mean this doesn't resemble any beef I've ever had anywhere. The pineapple chicken sounds kind of attractive on the "chef special" menu , but steer clear there also as it's just a ploy to get you to spend even more. While the flavor of it is reminiscent of the same Orange chicken flavor we're all used to, the chicken quality is so far below anything I've ever even experienced. It's like gristle/fat the whole way through. And what rarelynfound that isn't, KIND OF resembles dark meat chicken at best. Chewy and ruins the flavor experience 110%. Chicken fried rice is the only thing safe that I got. And the chicken leaves too much to be desired.. There's a ton better options in town. Fried wontons were at least 2 hours old, and were never clear with me on what exact kind of "meat" is in the things... which funny to some, but at this point I am genuinely and seriously concerned lol. I Spent $70 on dinner for this split with my neighbors. I am realizing that I would've gladly hauled all the kids across town to Panda Express over this. I mean my feelings and ESPECIALLY MY wallet-- ARE HURT. Avoid this place by all means, I mean this is so unacceptable on a food quality scale that I was tempted to ask for a refund. Ordered takeout for pickup on Friday night. The ordering process was hectic because the employee taking the order was also talking to others around him while trying to take my order. There was music in the background and it was overall an unnecessarily difficult process. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I discovered that the person taking the orders puts the phone on speaker and there is a lot of noise, conversation, and chaos going on. Service was quick and prompt. Portion sizes were great. You get a lot of food for the price! However, all meals were generally lacking flavor. Even the spicy dishes we ordered were not spicy whatsoever. All food was well prepared, cooked, and heated appropriately for take out- absolutely no complaints there... but it was generally flavorless. Due to how well the meals were prepared, packaged, and the generous portion sizes I will try again in the future. read more

This used to very, very good. New ownership, must be new kitchen staff. It's not inedible. Just isn't nearly good as it used to be. Most dishes are very different now. Even the fried rice is completely different. Rice shouldn't be crunchy. read more

This is our favorite Chinese in Elkhart. Love that they have online ordering. Everything is fresh and hot. We always get takeout and never have to microwave the food when we get home. Covid 19 pickup, not ready when promised. Had to wait outside for 30 mins for them to cook order. Food was good

Decided to give China Star a try since it's nearby and a change from Memories in Goshen. Food was hot and fresh but those are the high points. Wife had chicken and vegetables and thought it was on par with most from others she has had. I had governors chicken and it was mediocre at best. No zing or spices like others I have enjoyed. Fried rice was okay but slightly over cooked. Low point was sons orange chicken which had a slightly green color and not much flavor at all. He had one portion and he said pitch it if no one else wants it. Into the trash it went as it was definitely bordering gross. Egg roll was crispy but filled with over cooked cabbage with no flavor. Likely not returning as it offered little beyond generous portions of bland food. read more

This is a decent place to eat. The food was pretty okay, but the Mongolian beef was a bit rubber-y. The teriyaki chicken was wonderful, the rice was somewhat dry. I think this place could step up their game. The service was pretty good and the staff seemed as energetic as you can be when working at a Chinese restaurant. Great crab ragoon. The sauce that came with it tasted like tomato soup. That was 4 dollars. My food came out very quickly. I ordered the garlic chicken. It wasn't great. The vegetables wernt cooked long enough. The boxes bottom was saturated n soggy leading me to think that it might have been sitting around for a few. The price was average. 8-9 bucks. I am half Chinese, and with my dad being full Chinese and cooking all the time, I can honestly say this is the most genuine Chinese food I've had, next to my dad's. Food was plentiful as usual. But the furnace filters were being changed, they are in the ceiling right over tables in the dining room. The metal vents were filthy and one of the dirty filters was dropped. This should be taken care of before opening to customers not while they are trying to eat. read more
