Big Panda made a Big come back. After being closed for Covid, my husband and I ventured here last month. We were delighted. The food is still buffet and it's hot. Not below temperature like buffets so often are. There truly are so many dishes I cannot describe them all. Plus, peel and eat shrimp and an ice cream bar. For $19.00 with our Senior discount and our complimentary coupon of 2$ we had a filling lunch. The servers are quiet and efficient. The buffet is checked about every 1/2 hour by a manager to be sure it is stocked and ready. I recommend this AYCE. Kids love it too. read more

The price is right! It was only $26 for 2 adults to get the buffet and fountain drinks with refills. The food is surprisingly good considering it's a low end buffet. There are lots of choices, so everyone should be able to find something they like. However I did witness multiple customers on site who could barely walk due to their weight, likely from too many visits to this place. (I decided to make it only an occasional dinner choice for this reason). The decor was pretty in a tacky kind of way, it included some red paper lanterns, and an artificial (not pine) tree with Christmas lights. They have random items for sale near the register. Im not a fan of Buffets and didn't realize it was a buffet till we walked in. It's your typical Chinese Buffet. Large assortment of food. $27 for two adults with soft drinks. Food was probably bought somewhere else premade and warmed up before putting out on the buffet. The restaurant interior wasn't that clean. The serving stations and tables seemed to have been wiped down but had a layer of film on them. The tile floors felt slippery and the carpets needed cleaning. Everything needed a steam cleaning. I went to big panda buffet today and majority of the hot food is probably 80% chicken only two beef dishes and the pork dish was pigs feet. That didn't have any meat on them. I'm not much of a Chinese chicken dish eater I don't think I'll be going back there if you love chicken you'll love this place! read more

When the original owners had this restraunt the food was fresh and tasted great. My friend and I ate their on 7-23-24 and at both my friend and I couldn't get to the bathroom fast enough. The food doesn't have that fresh taste anymore but they still get the business as people want cheap prices and I want quality at a reasonable price. read more

Food was good. I'm not a big Chinese person but we went to meet my friends for lunch and they chose this place. The price is great. $27 for two people for drinks and a buffet including dessert. They do have good American options such as Mac n cheese and I've always liked the sweet and sour chicken as well. I do wish they had better dessert options as most of them seem to be for the ice cream. The service is good. And they clear the plates pretty quickly. Update: since my last review of big panda, we have noticed significant changes. Not for the better. The food quality has gone down. No consistency in the way the food is cooked or tastes. The sauces on most of their items are watered down. Food is overcooked. Temperatures are inconsistent and most of the items are Luke warm to almost cold. Most of the time you're waiting for them to bring out fresh food. I've also noticed the cleanliness of the restaurant is not what it used to be. We have not been there in a couple of months, but we may try them out again in the future. If we do, I will update you then. read more

We came here for dinner tonight, it was just OK the food was kind of lukewarm. The fruit punch was good and they've got peel and eat shrimp there and cook shrimp but they don't take the Mudvayne out. The employee told my son he could save his gift card for the next time and use two of them to buy an item. Well they lied to him and tried to play it off as a "miss understanding". The gift cards don't say 1 per item. There are no signs that say 1 per item. Yet after asking and being told he could my son was lied to when he couldn't. They just lost costumers. Same Chinese buffet food as the other location! Flavors are tasty,good and cheap! I would not say it will give Hibachi competition since they do not have much seafood instead however it is cheaper because of that. In a way it is like a buffet of the small Chinese take out places. read more

This has become my favorite Chinese buffet for the simple fact that it offers several all vegetable choices, and everything I sampled tasted fresh. I read on another review that the owners of New China in South Bend now own this place too. That makes sense, being that New China was my favorite for the same reason I like this place. Since I frequently shop in this area it is now my first choice for a meal. read more

Decent Chinese buffet. Pricing is cheaper than most (barely). The lack of proper desserts costs it a star. Sushi would also be nice. I'd prefer they focus less on the gift shop of cheap crap and more on expanding the food choices. read more

I am giving them five stars because if you know the owners they go the extra mile to make sure the place is clean and that the food bar is kept stocked. If you notice, the management are always walking around making sure everything runs smooth. In my opinion the food is great. I really like the Chinese dumplings and the egg foo young and salt and pepper shrimp. Plus you get a free drink with free refills. I don't know of any other Chinese food in South Bend or Mishawaka that does that. read more

Definitely didn't fail my expectations. Food looked fresh and delicious. We arrived around 2:30pm on a Saturday. They were barely busy. Maybe 30 customers in house. I got a plate of mostly chicken like usual. I told my husband that I thought their fried chicken was the best. He hates that I always say that about fried chicken at Chinese buffets The only huge downside was that fans were on full blast so it was very cold and that meant that my plate got cold fast. I don't usually leave reviews but I feel like this place was much better precovid. The food was terrible. I'm not a picky person and eat about anything, but I'm not planning on coming back. My girlfriend and I feel sick after eating here. Food was unappetizing, bland, undercooked or overcooked, or way to salty. The variety wasn't good either. Staff was friendly, and the place seemed clean at least in the dining area. I thought Panda Express was an average place, and this is way below. Price went up per person, but so has everything. Went in for mother's day and got a free coupon for a meal next time I come back. The staff at the door was friendly. I liked that we could refill our own drinks so we did not have to wait for a waitress. They had a decent amount of food for a Chinese buffet and it tasted really good. They took every precaution for covid 19 when reopening for carry out. The once buffet style restaurant now has menus and specials posted outside and Inside there is plexiglass and a counter minimizing contact. They take your order and ask what space you are parked in and once they have it bring it to your car. The whole process went very smoothly especially for having gone on the first day they opened back up. The best thing I found were the steamed(?) clams...they were tasty and delish, however very small. The other potable thing was the chicken wings,. The chicken nuggets were utterly flavorless and something that I had never experienced before. The staff is stoic and very hard working, as per the norm in these type of places (a big plus, in my book), it's just the kitchen that is lacking. They have a very cool bazaar type of thing, right next to the cash register, where you can buy things like scarves, dolls, and adapters for phones and stuff for a dollar. This is the one thing that keeps this place from a one star to me. The food is exactly what you would expect from take-out chinese restaurants but all together and for a good price. Also enjoyed the fruit selection. Probably the best restaurant in town (Panda).
