Food and service is excellent but don't plan to dine in. We always take our orders home. My husband loves their hot and sour soup and their Egg foo young. I like their steamed veggies with either chicken or shrimp or both plus I always order a side of sweet-and-sour sauce. Their Rangoon's are to die for! It's a local Chinese place, best one in Niles. It's not always the fastest, or best. But for our little town it's the best. They recently got new owners and the quality definitely slipped the first time we got them. Now I think they got their stuff together because it was real good when I got it recently. Our tofu dishes came mixed with rotten/sour tasting tofu mixed in, and our whole family had gastro issues from the vegetarian dishes we ordered. Will not return or recommend. This was not very good. I ordered garlic chicken and it tasted like there was shrimp residue in it. I'm concerned that they don't clean the wok between dishes. My egg roll was bland and greasy. My husband's roasted barbecue pork tasted ok but some of the pork pieces tasted a bit rancid to me. I have had food from here many years ago and the food was good, this time it was pretty meh. As a first timer here, I was really impressed with the food. I got the large portions of the general Tso tofu and the bean curd with broccoli. The sauces were amazing and everything was cooked perfectly. Some things you should know, they're currently only open for take out and they have a $10 credit card minimum. Argued with us that we ordered incorrectly. All three people on the car heard we ordered combos and one large. The lady at the restaurant proceeded to argue that we ordered larges and she asked us about combos. She didn't. She rushed on the phone repeating items and said to come in 20. We said 3 combos and was repeated that. Extremely frustrating. This is the second time we have came in with this lady being rude to us. At least first time the order was right. The Hot wok has good food good portions. But that's about it the ordering is real tough many customers were coming back trying to get their food right. Unfortunately the person taking the orders cannot speak or talk very good English. Tried my best to understand but ended up getting the food anyway. I gave it a second shot because all my co-workers were getting lunch there. I ordered the same Hot n Sour soup which had zero hot and this time even less overall flavor. The sesame chicken was just so so. It wasn't bad but the sauce was a red color that Ive never seen before and it didn't taste like any other sesame chicken I've had. The chicken fried rice and fortune cookie were the best part of the meal. I was almost about to love this place...as a vegetarian, I ordered the bean curd with garlic sauce which was good...until I saw the remnants of a baby crab with my rice side dish, which I thought was cabbage or something at first, but a closer look showed the skin texture of the little creature. Was really looking for some good chinese food and so I gave the positive reviews too much credence, should have paid more attention to the others. They evidently were closed for some time according to their FB site but can't see what work was done, its pretty run down. The food however is way more run down and unappealing than the decor. When I got home and tried it throwing it out seemed advisable. Shrimp toast was almost black it was so over fried, and the topping had a weird fishy taste, not at all like shrimp and on verge - if not over - of bad. Egg rolls were tasteless and very odd consistency. Like an overcooked hard shell with flat ingredients. Hot and Sour Soup was also horrible. tasteless and with halved button mushrooms. Really disappointed since some reviews mentioned how good they thought it was. A Szechuan dish was also tasteless, no spiciness which is mainstay of these dishes and meat had a grey color. THIS is the only place I will ever go for Chinese food, and I have convinced many others to come here as well. My favorite item is the fried rice: doesn't matter what kind, it is the best I have ever had. General Tso is amazing, and we always order the crab rangoons. I LOVE the hot and sour soup. Best place for the cost as well: I can take my wife and grandchildren and spend under $30 and still have some to bring home. We are vegetarian and this place can convert almost any plate into a tofu plate that is super delicious! We are only sad that we found it 4 years after arriving to Michigan!
