I want to love this place. I have let some little items slide, but this restaurant has the potential to be amazing and definitely isn't. This last take out order completely missed our Crab Rangoon and the beef had a freezer burn taste. The last order missed rice. The food needs sauces, in general. Lots of soy sauce, sweet and sour sauce, or hot sauce to make it ok. The corrections seem possible for them to make, but they haven't in our two years of coming here. If I could give a negative star review I would. I tried twice to get service and didn't. I sat for five minutes and didn't get a server to come to the table. A couple arrived at the area and got immediate attention. (Literally across the isle) They ordered from the bar and got their order right away and I didn't even get water. Don't let the strip mall outside fool you-inside is classic old style Asian decor and we were pleasantly surprised that they have a full bar! Service was good and the food came out fast and hot! Attention Foodies : they also have a full service sushi/sashimi bar that we'll definitely partake of next time in! Food was just ok for me. Had hot and sour soup and Mongolian beef. Beef was super sweet(not my thing) and soup didn't have much ingredients in it. I have been a customer here for many years. On 7/25/25I ordered 2 dinners, Triple Delight & Lo Mein w Shrimp. Latter was fine. Former was not good in various ways. First, the container was 3/4 full. It was as if the chef ran out of the order so he gave me what was remaining in his pan. Not acceptable at all!! Second, I received 3 good-sized shrimp, 3 small pieces of beef (fatty quality) and a few scallops. Overall, this was quite poor! I loved his restaurant in past years and now am more disappointed every few visits. We will be searching for another Chinese spot if this keeps going. Be warned. read more

This restaurant has a great selection of Chinese food on the menu, as well as having sushi choices. The best thing about the food is that the prices are extremely reasonable - my Singapore noodles dish was delicious and has a reasonable price. The server was very friendly and helpful with the food selection. I enjoyed spending time in Ho Ping Garden with staff treating customers like it's family! Ambience is very nice and has soothing piano music playing in the background. That's what makes Ho Ping Garden a nice place south of Niles city limits for its food and service. I ordered Moo Goo Gui Pan. There was metal shavings in it that cut my mouth. I asked for the Manager. He took my food and went to the kitchen. He never came back with an explanation or apology. Their food is AMAZING!!! We got their sautéed green beans, mapo tofu (no pork), and I asked for something not on the menu (sesame tofu). First of all the portions are massive! You could easily feed 2-3 people off of one dish. And the food was honestly the best Chinese food I've had in Michigan. The sesame tofu was perfectly crispy and saucy at the same time. Also, the green beans were perfectly cooked. My husband said it was the best green beans he'd ever had. I'll admit I was a little hesitant to try this place. My husband loves Ho Ping. They are certainly popular in the area. They have always been busy. I would be delighted if they would improve on some dishes. The crispy duck I ordered once tasted dry dry dry. Like it was a day or two old. Duck lovers love duck for its succulence. Their egg foo yung would taste better if they used bean sprouts, which is traditional. I know bean sprouts are very perishable. I buy them a lot for my own egg foo yung. They are super nutritious and have a unique taste. My experience is Ho Ping egg foo yung is all onions. Tried more than once. I regularly order the large wonton soup for carryout with our entrees. It is very good. The most recent order, there was practically no meat in the wonton. Like 1/2 tsp. The delight of wonton soup is in the meat filling in the middle. They are incredibly fast at getting dishes done. The phone answerers are always welcoming and helpful. I love that they have an authentic menu with those who covet Chinese special dishes. I enjoy their whole fried fish with sauces. The restaurant is attractive architecturally and very clean inside. We will always be regulars. read more

This is my go-to place for awesome food and sushi! I would place orders just before I left work and go pick up my food, it was always hot and ready. I have tried many of their special sushi rolls and I can say they are amazing!! I have only had the chance to dine in here once before covid hit, all my other times have been with pickup or with using DoorDash. I have relocated out of state and I miss this place!
