Veal sandwich combo

New to Whitby didn't notice this place at first but was introduced to it by a friend...the veal and chicken sandwiches are out of this world ..the staff is very friendly and the portions are above and beyond my expectations ...just wish they had alittle more spice

Veal Sandwich with onions.
Christopher L.

I been twice, had the veal sandwich both times. The sandwich is pretty huge, The veal is thinner than the breading but this is common with veal sandwiches I've had from Sinatra's in Oshawa, California Sandwiches in Toronto and Musatchio's at the St Lawrence Market.... I liked the sauce, simple tomato with a hint of onion and garlic. Well balanced with just the right sweetness. I will agree with Christian L, I think it's a rip that Italian sandwich places charge for their extras. Cheese-$1, peppers and mushrooms-$0.90, onions-$0.50... They need to decide of they are a sandwich shop or a cafe. The pastry offerings are pretty dismal, the display cases were half full and didn't wow me. If they want to take a tip from a polished establishment, they should look at Lamanna's in Scarborough. At least Mancini's cook their sandwiches to order however.... The spot is a refurbished Coffee Time, they did a nice job on it. I'd stay to eat without hesitation.

First time here as I was driving through town and a veal sandwich felt like a good idea. It was a tad pricey as it adds up with the extra charges for toppings. The red sauce was pretty pedestrian but the thinly sliced veal was well breaded and piled high on a large kaiser bun. All in all a decent experience.

Excellent menu, great food, clean washroom and friendly staff. Generous helpings and good coffee. The veal is extra good.

This is not a fast serve restaurant. First we got the Branzino which was pretty good and tender. Then we got a pasta dish which had no flavour and was blend so probably wouldn't order again. We also got the ribeye which was pretty good. For dessert, we had the apple blossom with gelato and toffee and it was delicious. They also had lots of mocktails options which we appreciate. Overall, this is a decent choice for Italian when you're in the Whitby area but pack lots of patience and you'll be fine.

I just came back arriving early The restaurant was substantially full. We were seated at a table with only 16 inches of space between the back of the chair and table. We tried sliding the heavy table but there was no were to slide it too as the other chairs were backed into another customer.3 rolls were put at the end of the table so when an attempt to use your arms in this small space a large drink was toppled over. Soda all over an entire outfit dripping down the leg from the crotch and breast. BECAUSE IF SITTING IN WET...THE MEAL COULD NOT BE ENJOYED....because it was difficult to use your arms and being drenched. THIS IS NOT AN ENJOYABLE PLACE TO DINE...unless you are lucky to get a table when there are few clients. Although the food is good...it's not a place to entertain friends or heaven forbid a date nite. I know why they're busy...it's because Whitby really lacks fine dining restaurants. Will I return ? I purchased a seizable gift certificate...so possibly use for take out. Without the gift certificate..the answer would be no. I would rather drive further so that a dinner nite out could be enjoyed TOO BAD WHEN GREED RELINQUISHES TO SERVICE

First off, the man working, who ended up being the owner, was super friendly! It is him and his wife that own and run the restaurant. They were very grateful for our business. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much as the inside of the restaurant feels more like a diner. They offer breakfast, salads, pasta, panini, and pizzas. We ordered a Caesar salad which was great and decent portion. We also ordered the Penne Rose - highly recommend. They offer large portions, the sauce was rich and the pancetta was delicious. This was comparable to high-end restaurant quality - reminded me of the Penza dish from Grazie except under $15! We also ordered the alfredo pasta and this was very tasty. They have a wood burning pizza oven so of course we had to try it and we were not disappointed. The fungi pizza was delicious and the large was under $15! I would recommend this spot if you are looking for a really good, filling, and inexpensive (relatively) meal! Also, this is one of the small businesses I'd like to continue supporting because the owner is lovely.

With the team's participation in our first tournament, it gave us the chance to hunt down places to eat in the good town of Ajax. As the saying goes, the 'show must go on'. A Friday early evening game that will take us to about a 9:00pm finish would only allow us to grab a bite post-game. We needed something quick since we have to drive back home to the west side, so pizza would be a logical choice. We could have settled with your run of the mill chain pizza joints, but as usual I've opted to take a bit of a detour to support a local business. The moment we got into the car, we put in the order for a small Canadian pizza and by the time we got to the restaurant, the pizza was ready for us. We cracked open the box and my son and I started devouring the piping hot pizza with pepperoni, bacon, ham and mushrooms. I like the crust as it was somewhere in the middle in terms of thickness. There was a slight crunch to the surface and a good chewy texture in the middle. We were trying to eat fast, but we also tried to proceed with caution since we didn't want to burn the inside of our mouths off. It was pretty damn good pizza. Navona deserves your visit if you happen to be in the area.

My wife ordered this vegetarian squash dish and she loved it. I ordered the steak and the cook was perfect but I found the sauce overpowering. It's personal preference, I like my steak with just salt and pepper without sauce. My fault for not reading the menu correctly. The sides of purée and veggies were great. Overall KB hits it out of the ballpark and is so much better than the chain upscale eateries.

Service was very good. Our waitress was chatty and was joking around with us which was fun. Ambiance is more on the rustic side almost had a saloon feel, partly because of the old building but it was quaint. There was plenty of free parking in the rear which was convenient. All in KB is a good option if you are looking for an above average restaurant in the east end.

We were told it was previously owned by another owner for years and named something else for 45 years. It was recently renamed while keeping it's legend. The service was lovely, Morgan made our night very memorable. She was attentive and kind. The bread was warm and served with a fluffy honey hinted butter. The wine was good, I do wish that they had a bigger wine list selection. I asked for chili oil and it was amazing. It was made in house, flavourful and spicier than average. The appetizer was freshly fried, delicious and came with a flavourful truffle cream sauce. The tomato soup of the day was flavourful, with bites of ingredients, beautiful. The lamb shank was fall off the bones good. The ribeye was done to perfection. Our cheesecake was lovely and not overly sweet. Upon arrival, however, we were met with a very large wedding party gathering in the restaurant. The noise level was overwhelming, and we were seated very close to the event. This was never mentioned at the time of our reservation. Had we been informed, we likely would have chosen a different venue. Unfortunately, the issues continued. Three out of the four entrées we wanted were unavailable, which was disappointing given the limited menu. When our meals did arrive, they were brought out before the salads we had ordered -- simply forgotten. Later, before asking if we wanted more wine, coffee, or dessert (which we did), we were asked how we intended to pay the bill. It left us feeling rushed and unwelcome. The food itself was just okay -- not particularly memorable and not especially traditional or authentic Italian. The crème brûlée was especially poor and something I would strongly advise skipping. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. Legend of Fazio's may get another visit someday, but likely not for another 12 years -- or longer -- once this experience has faded from memory.
