I went to Dr Mancheva for 2 years while I was in college. Every time I would go she would tell me I had several cavities. Seemed weird, on the count that I did not experience any pain, and I had good oral hygiene. I was sent to have 3 root canals under her care. I got a second opinion after she sent me out to receive a 4th root canal. My new dentist told me that it was a small cavity, no root canal needed. Dr. Mancheva knew that I was using my college scholarships to pay for any dental work I needed, and I really feel that she took advantage of that and unnecessarily filled my teeth as well as sent me to get root canals from a fellow dentist, of which I believe had to be in on her scheme as well. After the horrific experience with SmileCare Dental, I am glad Dr. Mancheva is my dentist. I agree she is an honest dentist, unlike SmileCare. The staff is friendly and warm. I have had a few cavities fixed here, and come here for regular cleanings. I have never had any problems, everything always goes smoothly. If she finds a cavity, she can fix it the same day. I really do not like to give a negative review, so I put this off for a long time. Dr. Mancheva was very nice to me and did some cosmetic things I really liked. Her cleanings were fine. However, she told my daughter that she had several cavities, and my daughter didn't believe it and went to another dentist, who said she had no cavities. As for myself, she often told me I needed more dental work, crown replacement or a new cavity. But I began to wonder after what happened to my daughter, so I changed dentists. I had a crown that she had put on just pop off, and my new dentist said even though it was a permanent crown, it had temporary adhesive in it, which is why it popped off. And in the years I've been with my new dentist, the only other extra work I've needed beyond cleaning was a veneer that Dr. Mancheva had also put on. So maybe you can chalk it up to more of an emphasis on cosmetic dentistry, but I would just advise a second opinion. read more

Just left mid examination after being treated poorly and very rudely asked why I stopped going there and going to the dentist down the road. I had work done less that two years ago that failed causing my tooth to break. Once again another great visit with Dr. Mancheva!! :) I have been a patient of Dr. Mancheva for the last 5 years and have recommended all my friends and family to her. I cannot be happier with her work and her staff. Every time I go in, they always welcome me with open arms and completely ease my fears of getting dental work done. My Mother is a retired Registered Dental Assistant so you can say that I have been around this field almost my whole life, So I know professional work when I see it. They always let me know ahead of time on pricing and services that will be performed for that day's visit. ZERO stars to Village Dental/Dr. Mancheva: - For making me an "exam" appointment, when I clearly called and asked for a "cleaning" appointment. - For insisting (incorrectly) that it is illegal to do a cleaning without first doing x-rays. The thought that any medical board would create a law that forced pregnant women into unnecessary exposure to radiation is absurd. I have since confirmed with multiple dental offices that it is common practice to only subject pregnant women to x-rays in emergency situations. - For repeatedly insinuating that I was lying about the last time I went to the dentist, and asking me to prove it. - For being unable to assess whether I needed a simple cavity fill or a root canal, and telling me you'd let me know once you drilled in - even after forcing me into an x-ray. - For not being able to perform root canals in office. - For not requiring a note from my OB in order to perform any dental work beyond a cleaning - something every other office I've been to has done. - For withholding my x-rays when I asked for them so I could get a second opinion. I realize you haven't entered the 21st century and started taking digital x-rays, but 48hrs should be enough time to produce a duplicate. Clearly you were more unwilling than unable. - For wanting to charge $210 for a cavity fill WITH insurance coverage, when I was able to get it filled out of pocket at a PPO office for only $235. THANK goodness I went for a second opinion at my old dentist (who I had only stopped seeing because I got HMO insurance). Without taking x-rays, he was able to positively tell me all I needed was a cavity fill, definitely no root canal. He followed good dental practice by making me call my OB and get permission for him to perform the fill and only charged me $235 - barely more than Village Dental would have. I am shocked at what an awful experience I had with Dr. Mancheva. It had been a long time since I could afford dental work and I was treated with so much honor and respect from the whole staff. I had never had a filling before and I felt so safe and cared for as she worked on my mouth. They explained everything going on as they did each step and I felt really cared for emotionally and psychologically, on top of being cared for physically. I had ZERO PAIN. She used a topical anesthetic and then shook my gum and applied pressure as she inserted the needle (this confuses the nerves, if you're wondering) and I felt zero pain. Zero stars! Ignore any "sweet personality" you may see! I went for a cleaning which she didn't even do, but instead told me my front lower teeth were loose and I needed an (expensive) brace. I had never before been told such a thing and I have my teeth cleaned every 6 months. I ran out as fast as possible and to another dentist who confirmed Zanka is a con!! What a wonderful dentist! Dr. Mancheva has been my dentist for the last two years since I moved from the Midwest. I was initially under the impression from another dentist that I needed multiple fillings. I didn't agree with that diagnosis so I went to Dr. Mancheva and was delighted to know that I only needed one. I am always impressed with the quality of work. I am always greeted with a smile when I enter the door and they are always on time. ( I hate most doctor's offices when I have a 10:00am appt and am not seen until 11:30.) While my dental knowledge is limited, Dr. Mancheva is a kind-hearted professional and I am adamantly confident in her abilities. She is always articulate when explaining any issues with my teeth in addition to suggestions for overall tooth hygiene. I have been seen by several dentists over the past few years; however Dr. Mancheva is the one I prefer. She is always honest, compassionate and creative. She does wonderful job with standard and cosmetic procedures. She did my 8 front veneers and they look very natural. I regularly receive compliments on them and nobody believes that they are not mine. I had them for 10 years and I never had any problems. Zero stars would be my choice as well. I signed my whole family up with her because her office took my insurance. We have had many unsavory experiences. Starting with sending my post orthodontic son in to have some small teeth looked at. After braces he wanted to fix these two teeth that were quite small looking. She recommended very expensive veneers. Unfortunately we did not get a second opinion. The staff told us they would not file down these teeth, but they indeed did. Soon after, the veneers broke, because my son opened a bag of peanuts on an airplane, and used his teeth to do so. We went in and she fixed them, but they soon broke again, while eating a sandwich. The second time, she was very annoyed and rude to my son. We originally should have just bonded the teeth, but since they were filed down, two crowns were required instead. We took him elsewhere for these. Fast forward to today. I went in for a routine cleaning, and she asked If I had done anything to my front teeth. I said yes I had a crown done about 8 months prior, by my dentist who is a long drive away now that we are in north county. I really like him and his whole office, and since it was cosmetic and I would pay out of pocket, I decided to go to him. She became visibly annoyed, then told me she would not treat me anymore and that it was illegal for her to do so. (absurd!) She then told me she would not fix the fillings that needed redoing, and cancelled my children's upcoming appointments. I say good riddance. It is a move I should have made before. I will take my six family members and go to someone else! read more

I still remember my nightmare experience in Dr. Mancheva's office. My front tooth was chipped so she recommended veneers on both teeth. The day I was supposed to get it done, the veneers looked horrendous. While I was hesitating what to do, she got so mad and kicked me out of the chair and told me to leave. Luckily there was a cosmetic dentist nearby and he ended up gave me the most natural looking veneers. To this date, I think her kicking me out of her chair was the best thing that happened to me. But I could not forget the painful experience I went through with this dentist. Stay away from her. read more

Excellent caring dentist and very friendly and helpful staff! I am recommending her to all of my friends and family because I had such a great experience! I hadn't been to a dentist in 7 years and expected bad news but thankfully I had found an honest dentist and she told me that I still had no cavities! I also loved their high tech plaque removing system that uses water at high pressure rather than a scraping tool. (no horrible scraping sounds) It is so gentle and doesn't harm your tooth enamel and feels much better than the old fashion scraping! read more

I have used Dr. Mancheva for 13 years. I love her and her staff. When I first showed up I had cracked teeth from grinding, which no other dentist cared to address. Dr. Mancheva suggested a night guard and for $400.00 I have saved thousands from the night grinding of my teeth. My son was nine and has autism. Most dentist at the time would not treat him, but she took my son and even though he bit her once, she treated him and is still his dentist. He enjoys joking around with the whole staff and is very comfortable there. The whole office treats us like family and we feel the same about them. My mother had a terrible experience with a dentist in Riverside and I brought her here to see Dr. Mancheva in Encinitas. She fixed all the damage the incompetent dentist caused and anytime I have an appointment with Dr. Mancheva my mother wants me to tell her how much she loves her. My daughter has also used her. Her staff is great & they listen to what horrible service I went through. Zanka was very gentle & took her time cleaning my teeth. Worst dental experience of my life. Painful crown, now sensitive 24/7. Old equipment, 10 day painful wait for crown to arrive .. Much " alleve". Non digital X-ray. Cleaning was over priced and poorly done. 2,ooo dollars and didn't get what I needed. I just needed a few fillings and got a lot of overpriced extras. Rough , bruised sore cheeks for a week. Dr. Manchevas office is worse than a seedy mechanic. I was ripped off more than once and only because I didn't do the research to confirm my intuition that was nagging me every time I went. Now that I have a new dentist I have found that sealant was put on, unnecessarily and the recent copay is total bs. I even had a cavity that she wouldn't show me in the mirror checked out and it's non-existent. Thank goodness I didn't have her grind away at my very healthy teeth! I called to get my x-rays sent to my new dentist and she had only done the molars the last visit! And when I asked why I asked why, the receptionist said that it's because they are only every five years. When I informed her that was 6 years since the last ones she said it's because of the radiation, they didn't want to do it so soon and because my teeth were healthy. Complete bs and I am so mad I continued to trust her but thankful I didn't have her work on that "cavity". Not to mention, while mentioning she is very rough with you in your visit.
