WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Do not go to this dentist!! She's horrible!! I recently moved to Oceanside & this was one of the many offices my insurance recommended. After X-rays, the doctor, who wasn't very friendly at all, said I needed a deep cleaning which caught me by surprise because, that's never been a recommendation. My teeth are in great condition & my hygiene is excellent. I've never had anything major done besides a crown due to a crack from clenching. I take care of my teeth very well!! but I had skipped a previous cleaning so I thought it was necessary. I had never had a deep cleaning so I didn't know what to expect. After my insurance approved this, I went back in. Nothing was explained to me, all I knew was that she was going to have to numb one side is my face. I didn't know it was she was going to administer 3 shots in my cheek to numb. It felt as though , she was going to extract teeth she numbed me so much. During one of the injections i could feel pain. Once I was numb which was almost immediate, she started the cleaning which wasn't anything more or different than previous cleanings with my previous dentist. The cleaning lasted no more than 15-20 mins. After the cleaning ,When I getting ready to leave, i stopped at the bathroom to look at my face as it didn't feel right. I could not believe the swelling!!! My cheek was extremely swollen. I asked the girl at the front desk if this was normal & she said yes. When I got home, the swelling increased & I had extreme pain in my cheek. My teeth & gums were fine, no bleeding or anything. I happen to see my primary doctor a few days later & asked for her opinion. She could feel a lump in my cheek & said perhaps the dentist struck a nerve or salivary gland. By this time, five days later, my cheek was still very swollen & very bruised. My doctor told me to call the dentist & go back. I called the dentist & they got me in immediately. When the doctor saw me, she took no responsibility at all!! She said that perhaps there was a previous infection, or that maybe I did something to cause the swelling & bruising!! !! She requested to have X-rays taken & after seeing NOTHING wrong with my teeth, she said that I should go to an endodontist!! She prescribed antibiotics (which I knew there was no infection) & ibuprofen & gave me a referral to a specialist!! I've been going to dentist all my life & have NEVER had an experience like this. I truly think she just wanted to bill my insurance for a procedure I didn't really need. read more

In this review I cannot vouch for the services they offer because I didn't even get to make it that far. I've never made a yelp review I downloaded it just to make this review. The secretary at the front desk is questionable. I came in with a positive attitude and started to fill out the paperwork, I haven't been to a dentist since I was in high-school in 2020. And doctors make me a little nervous. My husband asks if he could sit in with me or if there's an extra seat, she immediately asks without hesitation if I need to be sedated. We say no, I'm just a bit nervous it's fine I don't need any sedation that's overkill and unnecessary. She says that no one has ever been allowed to ever sit in another persons dental appointment, unless they're sedated, anywhere. Which isn't true I'm from Chicago and I've attended many of my close relatives and friends dental appointment with them. But we brush it off, no big deal. She then brings up again the fact that no one has EVER been allowed to sit in another persons dental appointment unless they've been sedated. I finally speak up and say that I have not had that experience but that WE GET IT, She does not need to repeat herself. We ask a few more questions about the paper work and she keeps on asking and insisting sedation over, and over. I'm not sure what impression I gave her that I am in imminent need of sedation, but I found it weird and rude to keep insisting. She did it about 5 times. After 37 minutes of paper work she tells me I will have to remove all my facial piercings for an x-ray. No big deal, I can take them all out but the ones in my cheek because they're fresh. I have about 7 facial piercings. But usually if I insist I cannot take out the piercing they continue the x-ray. She said it was a no go, that's fine I understand that's just how it goes. But I am heavily pierced and she waited 37 minutes into paper work to tell me. The secretary heckled me so much, I will never be going here again, and this was just my initial paperwork to get started. I'm very ashamed because this is the closest dentist. She didn't have a name plate or tag so I'm unsure who she is. read more

The lady at the front desk was extremely rude and patronizing to my wife and I. My wife was just slightly nervous going to the dentist for the first time a long time and wanted to know if I could come along with her. The lady explained that I couldn't and that if she felt too nervous, sedation was an option. I said no that's not necessary and it could've been left at that. After I tell her no the first time she continues relentlessly asking us if we're sure that we don't and in a very rude and unnecessary manner. We were respectful and kind to her the entire time but honestly she made it incredibly hard to continue doing so. She asked us probably about 6 times and waits about 30 minutes after we've started filling out the paperwork to tell us that she can't have her piercings in for the checkup. We asked if we could simply do the X-Rays another time and she said no. But we still wanted at least a surface level checkup since it's been so long since my wife has been to the dentist. The lady was mean, rude, and patronizing. And that's just the secretary, I can't imagine what someone who's willing to hire her would be like. read more

I first tried to just walk in to make an appointment on a Friday but the door was locked, so I called instead. The office is located right by the parking structure by the Pier in Oceanside and if there is only one staff in the building they keep the door locked for safety reasons. Briana answered and was lovely. She set me up w/an appt w/Dr. Vaughn. The office is clean and welcoming. They did take a lot of x-rays but it didn't feel extreme, at all. Vaughn was honest and recommended another specialist at her office. I was able to make that appointment later in the month. All the staff in the building we amazing but I would have to give the most kudos to Illania and Briana. It's because of them I chose to continue my care at Pierview and I'm glad I did. After my referral appt I call to communicate and ask what's next. The Receptionist goes to tell me that she has to snail mail my paperwork for some ridiculous reason. The dentist here told me my insurance doesn't cover cleanings and fillings. This is not true, and it was not true when I went in. I have been informed since then by a dental assistant that turning away unprofitable or time consuming services covered by Denti-Cal is a common practice by dentists. If you need work done, make sure you bring documents with you to show that you know what services are covered by your insurance. When I went in and asked for help, I had a cavity and needed a deep cleaning, but I was not in pain. Now I am in pain, and this dentist could have prevented that. For months, I've been going around thinking the work I need wasn't covered and I was out of luck. Now I know I just need to find a dentist who cares about my health. read more

All I needed was one crown. I have a temporary and all I needed was one crown. They proceeded to try to take 23 x-rays of my mouth. After 11 I told them to stop. I got out of the chair and left. This is my first time ever getting all of my wisdom teeth removed and I have to say, Dr. Nguyen is really fast at removing your wisdom teeth! They also give you breaks if you need to while you're getting all of them removed. Honestly, I was in and out about 30 minutes and I'm really happy it was that fast! I've had several of my friends tell me they took 2 to 3 hours just laying there to get their teeth removed, but I'm going to definitely recommend them to come here! I recently had to switch insurance, so I start shopping for a new dentist. When I saw Pier View Dental, I decided to try it and I called for an appointment. The receptionist, Iliana, was very polite and efficient. She checked on my insurance, and she scheduled an appointment for the next day. Good start. I went in for my teeth cleaning, however since it was a while from the last time, it turned out in a deep cleaning, and a couple of filling. Iliana took care of all the insurance paperwork and scheduling, and Dr. Vaughn did the deep cleaning and the filling in two section, one day a part from each other. Very smooth, painless and quick. Maybe it was my lucky day, for sure I couldn't wish for a better turnout. Thank Dr. Vaughn, I'll see you next month for a follow up. read more

I used to go to an amazing dentist in Bonsall but needed something closer so I gave in and tried Dr. Vaughn out in February. Since then my daughter and I have been to her 2 or 3 times. Each time we've been there the office has always been welcoming, does a fantastic job on reminder calls (for those like me that forget!), insurance eligibility and benefits are done before you arrive and after the X-rays they inform you of everything out of pocket beforehand and give you very reasonable options to get what is needed done. She's always on time and prepared. And one of the best things about her is she doesn't over do it!! If you have a tooth that can be saved, rest assured with Dr. Vaughn, she will educate you on saving it and all the options you have; she does not just resort to fixing things that do not need to be fixed. Please do yourself a huge favor and go ANYWHERE else for treatment. I wasted multiple trips here and walked away without treatment 2 out of 3 times. The first time I understand because I did not have an ID since my wallet was stolen. The second time they agreed to see me with just an insurance card but wouldn't clean my teeth; they only did X-rays/checkup. They also saw my kids the same day but each one of them told me the dentist was rough with their cleanings so I was feeling uneasy. Today was really the last straw. I went in to get a cavity filled and said I don't like being numb but if the doctor thinks it's necessary then I will do it. I have a high pain tolerance and would rather not drool on myself for 5-6 hours if I can handle the pain. Well, the receptionist came in a few minutes later and tells me that unfortunately they can't see me since I declined being numb and they can refer me to another dentist. I let her know that I'm already here and would rather just do it now so if I have to be numb then that's fine. They declined. I'm sorry but being a mother of 5 kids, I don't have time for this nonsense. Save yourself some time and look elsewhere. read more

I recently went in to get my tooth checked because I was actually in the area for work and under a great deal of pain. I was driving in the area and came across the office. The staff greeted me warmly and took me right in without an appointment. I appreciated the dentist because she literally saw me quickly because of my severe pain, even when she had other patients in between. What I also liked about my experience there was the dentist took the time to go over my x-rays and went step by step during the treatment process. She also checked with me often to make sure I understood everything or had any questions or concerns. I was extremely pleased with the cleanliness of the establishment. Overall, my experience at her office was great! I was very satisfied with the service and professionalism. So much, the staff took the time to call the day after and make sure I was okay! Needed dental work and had to pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement. Pierview billed my insurance and was paid directly. Insurance company contacted them and instructed them to reverse claim or pay me directly. Illiana at Pierview refused to reverse claim as instructed by my insurance company and refused to pay me even after two insurance representatives contacted them. Illiana offered me a receipt for work never done on me so I could refill my insurance and get money that way. Can you say unethical!!!! Guess I'm calling California Dental Board next... read more

I have mixed feelings about this place, it's close to home, beautiful, all the equipment is new and up to date, the receptionist is super friendly, and the rest of the staff is nice too. I didn't like how long I had to wait each time to be seen when I had an appointment at a certain time. The dentist is young and nice but seemed rushed, probably cuz she was behind since I was seen 40 minutes late also. She did the cleaning, I'm not sure if they don't have a hygienist or not and it only took about 35 minutes. Waited an hour to be seen, not that worried about it. The major problem was I came for my routine cleaning when the doctor jammed her tool so deep in my gums I pushed her hand away! I have been in the dental field for over 17 years now. I know what it feels like to get my pocket depth checked and stay on top of my cleanings. It's now two weeks later and my gums are still sore and have a clear mark where she jabbed my gums. It bleeds from just that tooth where she stabbed me now. She told me I probably have to get a deep cleaning and to use a special mouth wash to get rid of the infection that was non existent before my visit. This is exactly what I was afraid of. I use denti-cal so I know doctors take advantage of this insurance and run up the bill. I will be reporting this to the board. I will be providing my previous records to them so they can see them as well. read more

I had a very negative experience and don't recommend this office. I have overall very healthy teeth and gums and needed a simple cleaning and a simple extraction due to a single back tooth damaged in a car accident. The office gave me a full set of x-rays and exam and then told me they don't do extractions, that I needed to go elsewhere after cheerfully billing my insurance and exhausting my benefits. I went to another dentist for the simple extraction (took 5 minutes) and then called back a month later to make an appointment for a cleaning and was told I needed to see a periodontist for my cleaning because of a non-existent "periodontal problem". I don't have periodontal disease. I take great care of my teeth. So other than billing my insurance for the exam and Xrays, this office refused to provide me with any service of any kind. I have never experienced anything like this. Avoid at all costs unless you like being billed and not being treated even for the simplest procedures. read more

After they book your appointment they call you 3 times to confirm, if you don't answer any of those calls they book someone else in your slot. Then when you come you have to wait an hour while "they squeeze you in". I too busy for multiple conformation calls. If I book an appointment I expect that time not to be double booked. Building is in a nice location by the beach. Dentist is the typical find everything wrong to up your bill kind of Dr. I only wanted a cleaning but got pushed in to X-rays as well. Digital machine was nice. Dental tech was good too. But dentist claimed I needed several fillings and a root canal. I was fine 6 mos ago at my last exam and X-ray, don't believe I needed a root canal and a bunch of fillings in 6 mos! I really had only wanted a cleaning . The worst part though was waiting on the dentist for about an hour after X-rays. I asked the tech when she would be in and she kept saying soon or a few more minutes. No apologies when she finally made it, but she's a bit rough in your mouth. Water went everywhere on my face and cleaning was only 3-5 minutes. Felt like I got rushed out because she was behind and I didn't agree to get fillings. The front desk/sales person is super pushy and really tries to get you to agree to fillings right then. This office has the worst staff. They are rude, disrespectful and unaware of how to treat the public. The person at the office called 20 minutes prior to an appointment that had been scheduled for over a week to cancel. I missed it because I was driving to the office. When I arrived, she asked if I had listened to my voicemail. She then told me to listen to my voicemail. I did and learned of the fact that my appointment had been cancelled. I questioned why was I not informed and her response was that she called me twice. Both times that she did call was while I was driving to the office. Their reason for cancelation was due to the fact they didn't accept my insurance. This is mind boggling being that I couldn't schedule an appointment without providing them with my insurance information. Also, I had an appointment reminder call late in the evening the day before. Of course I was upset and they handled the situation rudely by telling me BYE! I asked to speak to someone in charge and no one was available. This was my biggest mistake in going there. My family and I receive our dental services through this facility. It has been easy to get an appointment and the facility is clean, but I don't suggest bring your children here. My daughter got a little scared and didn't want to open her mouth so the dentist refused to work on her. Even after I assured my child it would be ok. I want to mention There is a less experience X-ray technician that had some difficulties capturing the images needed, so they needed to call in another technician to finish up the procedure, but everyone needs to starts at some point in there life. read more
