Best authentic Falafel in Texas and probably the entire USA. My husband has been eating falafel every chance he gets for the last 20 years and swears that place is the best. The owner is really nice and his place is exceptionally clean which is always an important sign in a restaurant. He makes his falafel from scratch and not from powder unlike most of the other middle eastern restaurants do. We go there for lunch every Saturday and we never get tired of the food. We love the hummus, the dolmas, chicken shawarma sandwich and of course the falafel sandwich! Prices are unbelievable cheap for what you get there - a delicious and healthy meal. read more

I must say I was quite impressed with this place. I absolutely love Mediterranean cuisine and I am not sure why I had not tried Manara sooner. The food is excellent, by far the best Mediterranean food in Lubbock. The prices are fair and you get a healthy portion of food for the price. I loved the mixed kabob plate and you can't go wrong with the shawarma plate. The meats are so fresh and cooked well alongside the very tasty rice, generous serving of pita, and the tasty sauces.It is definitely worth a try and I will definitely be going back soon! read more

No doubt this is the best Mediterranean spot in Lubbock and has really great shwarma and gyro. There's a reason why they can afford to keep there open hours minimal because they know how good there food is. The service is a little slow but it's because it's basically one man doing front of house service! That's impressive so he deserves a break, so patience is ideal when eating at the restraunt. i cannot say enough good things about this place!!!! i have been eating here for a couple of years now and i'm so upset it took me so long to try it! being from west texas i didn't have much experience with lebanese food but don't be intimidated it's so much better than the tiring burgers and fried chicken. the food is always hot, delicious and consistent every single time. i've tried a variety of things and e v e r y t h i n g is so tasty. favorites are definitely the lamb and beef gyro and chicken kabob! the falafel and sauces are what dreams are made of. i've eaten inside and to go- and let me tell you when they say 15 minutes your food will be ready they are not playing! i've never had to wait for my food longer than what i've been told and it's always correct never missing a thing. the best part about this place is definitely the owner, he's literally the sweetest man ever. love that it is small and local as well. if you haven't tried this place yet DO IT!! read more

We love this place. My dad is originally from Lebanon so I have a little Lebanese cuisine background and I think Fakhreddine, Marara's owner, nails it. He's a friendly authentic guy that takes his casual middle eastern restaurant seriously. We've enjoyed everything from the chicken shawarma, gyro, and kibbe, to the saffron rice, hummus, and baba ganoush (sp?). The bread is fresh and the service is prompt. The decor is to be desired but the meal makes up for it. Go keep Lubbock local and try this place out! read more

I am part Lebanese, and hadn't had most of this food since a family reunion years ago... so my expectations were very high. This place did NOT disappoint at all!! All of my friends loved it (some of them had no idea what they were even ordering at first). I had the veggie platter for two reasons, one being that I am vegan and the other being that I mostly just like the "sides" anyways. Easily the best dolmas and falafel I have ever had, even compared to home made!! To end the night I got some baklava which also impressed my whole table and myself. Love love love! This is one of my usual spots. I always order the beef and lamb gyro sandwich with a side of fries. The pita is so soft and the meat is so tender. I'm typically not a fan of lamb because of the gamey flavor, but the gyro meat is perfect! No gaminess at all. It's a small family business and they work really hard. This tiny little restaurant serves simple and fulfilling Mediterranean food. I had the veggie plate which included dolmas (the best I have ever had) , falafel, salad, hummus and babba ghanoush. Everything on the plate was fresh and tasty, though I wasn't wowed by the pita on the side. I was excited to find that they offered a salty yogurt drink that was similar to what I had in Turkey. The drink and the plate cost just under ten dollars, which I found more than reasonable. The young man that took my order and the owner of the establishment were exceedingly kind and friendly. Never go to a Greek Restaurant in Texas is the only thing I have learned. We went there because we love Greek food. This however was far from Greek food. The food was awful. Chicken boiled and spiced to cover up the flavor of it being old. The rice had no flavor and when I asked for Tatziki they looked at me like I was from outer space.No way anything can be good in a place that would serve you food like this. read more
