Finally, good falafel in Lubbock!! Great food, friendly folks.

Great falafel and great chicken schwarma. The toum sauce (garlic sauce) I've tried to replicate many times, but can't quite get it as tasty!

This is the clean and friendly much needed answer to Lubbock's dirth of good Greek/Mediterranean food. Gyros are generously sized and can be enjoyed without any sauce; 1 per person is more than enough for the hearty West Texas appetite. The Greek Salad is fresh and also tasty. My wife loved the falafel (spelled correctly?) which apparently even reheats well in the microwave. It would be nice to see some kind of soup added to the menu. Otherwise you will find a familiar list of Greek delights that will make you want to come back for more. Hummus anyone? read more

The hummus smelled like cat food so I couldn't eat it and there was mold on my gyro. I tried to address the issue with management and was cussed by an angry man running the place. I kindly spit in his face and told him to have a good night. Terrible food terrible service. read more

I went to Manara for the first time today with my husband and absolutely loved it! We randomly decided to try the place and right when we entered, we got even more hungry! The place smelled delicious. I just want to mention that the place makes a great first impression. It has a clean environment and the owner welcomes you with a very warm smile. We decided to get chicken shwarma plate and chicken kabob plate with hummus on the side. The main orders come with rice/fries, pita, and a Greek salad. The owner was extremely nice. When we placed our order, we pulled out our credit card to pay and he told us to enjoy ourselves and that we could pay later! My husband pointed this out but this showed that the owner had great confidence in his food, was laid back, and genuinely wanted his customers to enjoy themselves. The hummus was pretty good but could use a little more garlic. I don't want that comment to undermine the taste because it was still really great. It was served with a lot of pita bread. Then we got our salad which had really crispy lettuce and onions. It was also served with fresh tomatoes and yummy dressing. While we were finishing up, we got our food. My chicken shwarma had a lot of flavor and was served with rice and side of garlic. My husband's chicken kabob was served with rice and side of chipotle sauce. He absolutely loved his food too. I want to mention that usually I get full off of a salad, but this time around, I had hummus, a full salad, and cleaned out my big plate of rice and chicken shwarma! That just solidifies the fact that this food is worth trying/having! After we were done, the owner came back with a big smile to ensure that we enjoyed our food! I was sad when Manara on 50th closed, so very glad when it reopened in the old space of The Vine at 34th and Boston. The interior is uninspiring and the service by the owner is spotty, but the food is very good and reasonably priced. I particularly like the chicken kebab, which comes with a small salad, meat, two different aiolis, and some really terrific saffron rice. If you want a little less food, the sandwiches are also good, as are the appetizers. They do not serve alcohol, and definitely do not ask to bring your own. The owner is not ok with that. read more

While visiting our girls in Lubbock they recommended this cafe as a great meal for a good price. The price was better than good and the food was better than great!! LOVED everything!! I came here and got the gyro and falafel, which are the two dishes I use to judge any Greek/Lebanese restaurant. The building is really nice and cozy inside. Dimly lit and relaxing. The woman working there the day I went, while friendly, seemed painfully shy and made me feel a little awkward ordering my food. The food was made fresh and took about 10 minutes to come out to me, but to be honest I was not impressed. The portions were fine, but the falafel was not thoroughly fried and thus soggy and raw in the center and the gyro had French dressing on it instead of tzatziki sauce, which I had never seen before. I looked it up when I got home and evidently it's fairly common, but I am definitely not a fan and was tempted to send it back and ask for authentic sauce, but instead I just bit my tongue and finished my mediocre meal. I love Mediterranean cuisine, but I have not returned to Manara and have no plans to. read more

This place is my favorite restaurant find in Lubbock. Everything I've tried has been delicious, especially the gyro's and stuffer appetizers. Not only does it taste wonderful, but it is very reasonably priced, too. I will definitely come back often read more

My favorite place to eat is open again!!! New location at 34th & Boston. My family and I are so glad it's back! I've missed the Beef & Lamb gyro platter so much! The new place has such a beautiful new look! They've added more to the menu now also, gyro pizza, Mediterranean hamburger, more wraps! read more

Everything I've had here has been fantastic. Hummus can't be beat and their kabobs are amazing. Give it a try!

we tried this place based on all the positive reviews, but i was not impressed. the falafel was good, but that was about it. i had the veggie plate and my friend had the beef shwarma wrap, but nothing was especially good. if you want good mediterranean food, go to lite bite just down the street. read more
