I first tried Manang's chicken in one of the Mercato events and I was amazed at how good a double fried chicken tastes like. Of course, I haven't tried the Korean versions like Bon Chon yet when I tried Manang's.
I tried to find out if they were planning to open a store or a restaurant soon after that first bite. So I was really happy when I found out that one of their first branches was already in the Ortigas Business District. The place is pretty small and is kind of difficult to find if you don't already know where AIC Gold Tower is. They also don't have parking in the area. The best way to get chicken from this branch is to park in one of the paid parking spaces nearby and just walk to the store. Or you can drive by on a weekend when it is less busy and have someone wait for you in the car while the chicken cooks.
I love their chicken! When I was pregnant with my daughter, I was so disappointed that they couldn't deliver to Makati when I was craving for it that I actually cried. The next day, my husband drove up to Ortigas to get me an entire box! It's amazing how they get it so crispy outside but still keep the meat juicy. I love the different flavors they have but the one that tastes like sweet-soy sauce is my favorite.
Thankfully, they now have more branches and are already more accessible. They've also expanded their product line which now has chicken sandwiches and chips. read more
