If you ever find yourself in Araneta Center on the wrong side of midnight (or the right side, I won't judge) and you start craving for oh-so-sour sinigang with lots and lots of tasty, orange shrimp as big as a baby's arm (who uses that as a measurement, really? Aside from that witch from Hansel and Gretel, I mean), Alan's Grill in Cubao X is the way to go.
My first time there, it looked exactly like what it was: an old house refurbished as a Friday night hangout place with good food and good beer. My lobster and I had sinigang because I heart sinigang and my lobster hearts me, and other stuff I can't remember right now because oh my god that sinigang was amazing.
Anyway, I hear it's been revamped and has a totally new look. It's now "up to Cubao X's standards", they say, but since Cubao X is turning into hippie heaven, I have no freaking idea what that means. It might look like a giant typewriter now, for all I know. read more
