Amazing food, amazing service and the best people. One of my favorite local spots to go to when I don't want to cook

Today's review comes from a small town Mom and Pops restaurant. Simply put Momma's Kitchen. First note, this restaurant is NOT easy to be seen especially if you didn't already know before hand of where it is. It's kind of tucked away behind the gas station, Shell Station, it's along the extremely busy and fast moving Hwy 69. There is a stoplight to get into the gas station and the awesome lil community/town of Humboldt. Otherwise you'll fly right by it. Immediately there is a lack of parking next to the restaurant. If your looking for a disability parking spot, I'm not sure if they have one to think about it, but finding a parking spot alone could be a challenge. My first impression is that it's going to be a neat, small hometown type of atmosphere. You know like a simple kitchen all the locals go to. I was ready to gettin my eaten on as my wife says I say, (personally I think she's hearing things but hey gotta keep the wife happy). Upon entering we were Immediately greeted and seated. No seats had any duck tape keeping the seats together but hey that's not always indicative on how good the food will be. Sometimes the most worn down places being held together by duck tape or baling wire seem all too often serve the best food around. The volume of noise was very low. Perhaps because it was during the breakfast hours and nobody in the restaurant was awake yet? lol So conversations was easy to hear amongst us at the table. Aside from the occasional clinging noises made by others stirring their coffee cream/sugars and their conversations the volume was on the low side. Menu offers a wide selection and they adjusted things to my liking's without issue's. Side note, gotta love the head tilt or sigh or even that stare of death so graciously handed out by impatient servers. (I really am not that picky but with food allergies I'm required to be a little selective on ingredients) In fact today our server was very pleasant, attentive and answered questions politely. Almost seemed as if she was happy to be at work. It was an almost fall out of my seat kind of polite. A southern style kind of thing. All of the menu's were clean and not stuck together like with syrup or whatever else they often get on them throughout the day. Food arrived in a fairly timely manner and the portion sizes were not on the skimpy side. I heard no complaints from the herd I bring along with me so everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. To be fair, there's no doubt they have a good cook or bad cook type of days which now means I'm obligated to give em another shakedown later to see consistency. Prices and amount of food your served were on average as other local restaurants so that was expected. Another failure, #2 on my part was I was unable to get to the loo to check cleanliness and if it's ADA accessible for wheelchair/mobility restricted individuals. Most all businesses have ADA complaint facilities but the majority lack the room needed for transferring from a wheelchair to commode vice versa. That's a huge difference. And to some a big difference on being a pateron or not. Kind of the same as to disadvantaged individuals parking spots and accommodations. That'll to will be on the next trip for certain. So bottom line. I give Mama's Kitchen a solid 4 for this time. As always, I rarely give out anything higher than a 4. It's not they did anything wrong however there is always room for improvement somewhere even though i might not have seen it this visit. (Final note, a throw out to all my fellow brothers and sisters whom currently are or are now a veteran, I failed to see if they are a pro military, public servant business and offer the near common 10% incentive or not. I normally ask about this after I pay my bill) I don't want to set-up any business with asking before hand. It also gives the employee an out so to speak if the businesses don't. It's certainly not the staffs decision. So that's failure on my part #3. Better end this review quick before finding out anything else) Hahaha Sit down, kind of relax a bit, and enjoy a meal at this restaurant! read more

Went to Momma's Kitchen Cafe (Humbolt) for the first time. Cute place, everyone was very friendly! They have a surprisingly large menu for lunch and dinner only (7-2). I had Momma's brown nest, which was eggs, bacon chopped, sautéed onions and cheese down on a nest of crispy hash browns. Sooooo DELISH!! My guy had chicken friend steak with pancakes. I'm not a fan but he LOVED it! I asked for a double toasted bagel with cream cheese that we split; the bagel was perfectly toasted (I like them brown, not just warm). We'll certainly add this place to the rotation! As an aside, there is a cute little shop in the retro row of buildings behind it. I think it will be a great place for holiday gifts and AZ items! read more

Among my favorite diners in Yavapai County! Always consistently good food and service. Cozy, friendly atmosphere.

Staff was great but the food was a bit bland. My husband had the biscuits and gravy, his favorite. However he wasn't impressed.

First Time First time at Mamma's Kitchen. The restaurant isclean, service was quick, efficient and the staff was accomadating and very pleasant. The restraunt was busy. We ordered the French toast, pancakes, 2 egg scramble with fried potatoes, and the chicken fried steak with 2 eggs over easy. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Entrees was cooked perfectly and hot when it arrived to the table. Great service, wallet friendly pricing, andctasty food. We will be back. read more

Cute little roadside place with REALLY good food! We shared the walnut chicken salad plate. Fresh, hand-shredded chicken, on good salad with lots of shredded red cabbage and carrots. Even the buttered Texas toast was good! read more

Good Prices, Good Food, Good Prices. This is a good no frills spot for a good meal. Nothing fancy, but just what you need if you have hungry kids to pacify before they eat the parents! This place has a weird smell to it as you walk in. That's never good. the food is typical truck-stop breakfast food. Which means its greasy and not so tasty. The coffee is just awful, way too strong and they use cheap coffee, you can taste it. Hubby was in the restroom right after one cup...so yeah, that's not good. Service was great, food was great, and Mamma's Kitchen has the hometown feel a family cafe can give you. I seek out the restaurants that remind me of the family owned restaurant I worked at when I was in grade school. A gathering place where there is the smell of food in the air and conversations at each table. We got there an hour and a half before they closed, found a parking place close to the door and were seated as soon as we arrived. The girl who took out drink order was friendly and conversational. We enjoy that. The girl who took our order was very friendly and also engaged us in conversation. A+++. I am a firm believer that eating out is about more than the food. It was the experience I was looking for. It's our new breakfast place. (Fyi, hard to find parking and having to wait to be seated are actually good signs.) read more

Food was so amazing I didn't even get a chance to take a picture! Came with friends and I got an omelet, one got biscuits and gravy and the other got the corn beef hash breakfast. Portions are seriously huge! We had so much left over! Food was delicious and fresh tasting! Great place to stop for some home cooking! Excellent place to eat! We moved up from the Valley and we were looking for a breakfast/lunch spot where we could enjoy a quiet meal. Music was perfect, the service friendly, and the food extremely tasty. The restaurant is clean, open, and simple. We enjoyed listening to the local banter and found that even though we had our 4 year old with us, no one scowled at us. Highly recommend and will be going back many more times! read more

Our breakfast was absolutely delicious!!! The service provided by our waitress was excellent. This despite the fact there was a man she was also taking care of (next to us); who was extremely rude to her, and say he was just messing with her as if it was OK to be talking down insultingly to her. She handled herself pleasantly polite and professionally to him inspite of his very sad and poor behavior. My husband and I were grateful for the great food and outstanding service; which overshadowed the man's disgusting and disrespectful behavior. By the way when the place is busy...please kindly expect you will be waiting longer for your order. This means business is great! Having said this; we go for not only the awesome food and EXCELLENT service; this includes the atmosphere. To add an important note for the rude and impatient people; if you want something quick during a busy time, which it was busy, straight through from opening to closing time...then please by all means; kindly go to a fast food chain with a drive through. As stated before they were quite busy however attentive....this means "business is good". Hard to give a fair review considering the times, and it is my first time eating here. It's an old school diner, it's okay. It's partitioned off into dining rooms giving it a tight feel. The condition is good and ambience quiet. Almost to quiet, some back ground music would be good. Unless you like over hearing others conversations. The menu is simple standard diner fare. I had sausage and eggs, prepared and presented well per diner standards, decent price. There's not much choice for restaurant's in the area. So first off, this is the most charming place we have ever been. And I don't mean "charming" like there are doilies and flowers on the tables, or sweet old ladies greeting you. No, I mean charming like you walk in and feel like home! Every one of the staff was so genuinely nice to us and our twins. We have 2 1/2 year old boys... so you all know how that can be. The food was great- but the service and the hospitality was by far the best we have ever had! Everyone was engaging and just very sweet to our kids. We had breakfast and everything came out perfect. Eggs, bacon, French toast and waffles for the boys. The waffles were amazing. Crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. The bacon was the best! Just the right amount of crisp! The best part... someone had paid for our meal!!!!! What?!?! It was just the icing on the cake! Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! Best Ruben sandwich I have had in a long time!! This little mom and pop restaurant is exactly what one hopes a place like this will be. The food was yummy, the portions were big, the prices were reasonable, and the service was wonderful. We happened on this place on our way to Prescott and I am so glad we did. It doesn't look like much from the outside, a hole in the wall for sure, but those places normally have the best food and Mammas Kitchen did not disappoint. We will be back for sure. read more
