I feel like family here. Joe is so welcoming and the amazing food is a plus to going there

Very very very good pizza and meatballs for a local spot like this. I was at cherry hill mall and wanted some pizza so I stopped in. Staff was super nice and accommodating when we didn't know what to order. The pizza is on the crisper side so if that's your thing I highly recommend this spot. Meatballs didn't disappoint as well. A but on the pricier side as well. Worth the stop if you're around. read more

cheese steak was large lots of meat. seeded roll fresh. Meat over cooked dry. bottom line ... over rated ..

Original Grandmom's pie I think it's called and we added pepperoni. I don't think I'll ever be able to eat pizza elsewhere as this was so good!! This was our 3rd time ordering this pizza but excited to try the others next. Everyone working there is so nice and helpful too! read more

Meatball heaven! :-) So delicious and very moist! Came here during the Manayunk StrEAT food festival. I loooove food trucks so I love going out to events like this. I'm so glad this truck made it's presence here, bc I wouldn't have known they existed it they didn't. I ordered the traditional meatball so my son could have some as well. Mmmm, so GOOD! Seasoned perfectly and had the right amount of sauce on it. My son couldn't get enough. After one bite, I felt like I had to constantly stop the stroller to give him another bite. The bread was also delicious. It didn't fall apart and it was nice and soft. Only downfall - I wish I ordered more than just one. After taking the first bite, we looked at the line and it was soooo long, we didn't want to wait in it again. One meatball split bw 3 people... FAIL! Hahaha read more

I give them close to a three... That means a two. Their truck came to my place of work last year.... The sandwich I had was underwhelming. It was dry and lacking flavor. While there one of the employees bragged about how their cheesesteaks we're better than any found in Philly....my friend and I were in area and suggested this place. Even though underwhelmed by the sandwich last year I decided to just agree and try one of their "amazing" cheesesteaks. It was not good at all. The steak lacked flavor and cheese totally overwhelmed the steak. The bread was chewy...like microwaved for ten minutes chewy. Definitely not better than any in Philly...if you're gonna brag like that try backing it up Definitely not willing to try anything else read more

This was completely fine. It's hard to go wrong with meatballs and pizza, but I certainly wasn't blown away by the flavor.

Ok. Just waited 30 minutes in line at LOVE Park just to see 2 of their 5 varieties of meatballs get sold out. But the ones I wanted to try were still on the board so I was in luck. For $8.50 you get 3 1-meatball sliders. I chose 2 "regular" aka "Mama" and 1 spicy. The spicy is made from spicy sausage and even after 10 minutes I'm still feeling the kick! They have cheese in there! The Mamas were full of flavor and did not taste like frozen ones from the store. These were fresh and worth putting in your mouth. What I did not like was the seemingly store-bought slider rolls. They were very soft and did not hold up on my short walk back to work. They were almost mush to eat after soaking up a lot of sauce. I'd recommend to the owner to get some harder hoagie rolls and slice them into sliders. I think you'd have a better sandwich. Overall a nice experience. But, sorry, Mama, my wife's meatballs using my grandmother's recipe along with the homemade sauce, will never be beat! read more

Awesome meatball sandwiches and pizza. Real nice people! Thanks for your lunches and dinners that keep me coming back for more! read more

Awesome meatballs! I have to start off by saying that I'm not a sandwich type of person. No fillers for me please but I was starving so decided to give this place a try. They had several choices and I really wanted to try all of them. Each hoagie comes with 3 meatballs and there were two that really stuck out to me. They were very accomadating and was able to fulfill both my desires to try the Blue Balls and the Spicy. The spicy meatball had some peppers and a spicy sauce that they put on top. The bread was perfect (soft & chewy) but I ended up pulling most of the bread off to just go for the meatball. I may have hallucinated this but I think the spicy meatball is stuffed with cheese. It was a nice surprise and just perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I absolutley loved the Blue Balls. It comes with bacon and blue cheese and topped with some arugula. Such a wonderful balance of flavors. When it comes to meatballs, this lunch truck is the winner hands down! read more

Mama's Meatballs - Spicy and Blue Balls mixed - Food Trucks Near Me - Pennsauken, New Jersey

If it wasn't obvious from the name, Mama's Meatballs is a food truck that specializes in meatballs. They're a roaming food truck that can be found participating in plenty of food truck events and festivals both in and outside of Philly. Last month, they participated in the Lunch in LOVE program every Friday. They even have a takeout restaurant in Pennsauken, New Jersey that was opened after their food truck business took off. Let's start off by talking about the menu, starting off with the overall design. At the top of the menu, you'll see "MAMAS BALLS" spelled out using a different license plate for each letter. Below that, you'll see wooden planks for each menu item that are held together using chains. This was actually the first thing I noticed on the truck, which impressed me right off the bat. Their offerings are pretty straightforward: four different types of meatballs, each of which have some very unique names. They're served as sliders and you can order one for $5.00, or mix and match any three of your choosing for $12.00 I decided to order the three-slider option for myself and only had to wait about five minutes before I received my food. When you first take a look at the food, it almost looks like a meatball sub, but easily breaks apart into three separate slides. All three of the meatballs I ordered are topped with arugula, parmesan cheese, and marinara sauce, and include some type of cheese stuffing on the inside. The first one I ordered was the Rocky Ball Boa, named after one of my favorite movie franchises. This meatball is made from sweet sausage and served with sautéed peppers and onions on top. It's stuffed with sweet provolone, which is a great cheese to pair with any type of sausage. The second one was the Rabe Father, which gets its name from the broccoli rabe and of course, the movie franchise. Along with the broccoli rabe, this meatball is made from ground turkey (one of my favorite ways to make meatballs), topped with pesto, and stuffed with asiago cheese. The last one, and probably my favorite of the three, was the Dat Za Spicey Ball. Let me tell you off the bat, this one is hot! It's made from spicey sausage and long hots, stuffed with jalapeño cheddar, and topped with peppers and onions. All three meatballs were great, but what really impressed me was the marinara sauce on top. Sauce can easily make or break any Italian dish and their sauce is spot on. The only meatball that I didn't have a chance to try was the Mama's Balls. This one is made from a mix of beef, pork, and veal, and includes the same arugula, parmesan, and marinara as the other three. All of their meatballs are hand rolled and made from scratch, giving each one that authentic homemade Italian flavor anyone can fall in love with. read more

Generous three stars. I tried Mama's few days ago for the first time at the Night Market Under 95. I wasn't so impressed. I paid $5 for one disappointing single-meatball slider. "Rabe Father: The turkey meatball. Yes it was a big ball, but it was not the best meatballs I'd ever tasted! Not to mention the person who took my order wasn't too friendly, which didn't help. More precisely, in my book, Mama's Meatballs is not more than Two and Half Yelps. read more

Tried these at the Fishtown RiverCity Festival yesterday. $12 for 3 sliders. From looking at the other reviews on here, Mamas Meatballs jacked up the price yesterday. I tried the spicy and the turkey/rabe. Both varieties had great flavor, but the slider rolls that they came on left much to be desired. I ended up leaving the rolls and just eating the meatballs. Good flavor, but $12 for 3 average sized meatballs? No thanks. Perhaps this pricing was just for the Fishtown festival. I'd try this business again if the price was more realistic. read more

(4.5 stars) The Rocky Ball Boa meatballs here were awesome but definitely too pricey. Similar to a meatball parm sub, except the cheese was stuffed inside and they were filled with a ton of veggies. Really savory and paired great with the pesto sauce, which thankfully, they didn't skimp on at all. The only downside really was the price. Getting three meatball sliders and a soda would run you $15, which is more than one should every really spend at a food truck. Though, the quality of food was way better than most past food truck experiences. read more

First off...I love food trucks. Not just any food trucks. Some I avoid some at all costs. But when I see a gorgeously painted truck that the owners obviously have pride in, I can't help but get a little excited at what waits within. Saturday, at the Manayunk StrEATfare, there was a variety of such trucks and I was pretty much on cloud 9. I have been thru such events before and know you can't eat at every truck, as much as you might want to. You will not only spend a fortune but you will stuff yourself sick! So my girl and pup headed thru the strEATfare seeing which had the longest lines(which is a good sign the grub is good!) and what we would fill our bellies with. Mama's Meatballs is where we went for our main "meal" and we are VERY happy about this choice! Their line was full all day long so we knew it was going to be good and we were not let down! We had the traditional meatball served on a long roll with gravy(meat sauce) and some garnish. From the first bite to the last bite(which was me sopping up the gravy with the last of the roll) it was really tasty...Tender, but not falling apart, great flavor on the ball and in the sauce. The roll was fresh, the meatball was hot and the sauce delicious. I just needed a few more napkins for the mess I made devouring it! I wanted to ask more about their balls but it was somewhat busy in the back of the truck. I'll try to find them on a less busy day and see if they can give me some of their secrets! I want to know where they get their bread for one thing! They also have a veggie ball, and a variety of others made with different cuts of meat. Turkey balls, Bacon Blue Balls (blue cheese in there). They also have a great sense of humor you can see by the way they reference their balls! Nice to meet you and your balls Mama, can't wait to see you again! read more

Restaurant quality gourmet meatballs with a variety of meats and sauces served by business owner, Mike, who is a super nice and funny Philadelphia local. My wife and I have always loved food trucks, so we were excited when we stumbled upon Mama's Meatballs food truck at a Philadelphia craft show at Penn's Landing. My wife and I decided to try the original Mama's Ball (beef, pork, veal) slider. We were so impressed with the flavors and moistness of the ball as well as the accompanying marinara sauce that we got the Rocky Ball boa (sweet sausage), Rabe Father (turkey and broccoli rabe) and Dat zap Spicy Ball (spicy sausage and long hots). They were all fantastic, but the Rocky was off the charts, with the melted provolone inside the ball just putting it over the top. By the time we walked away, they had quite a crowd trying all the varieties. All were equally impressed. They will be in my neighborhood in June. Can't wait! read more

We hired Mama's Meatballs for our wedding. We had the Blue Balls and Mama's Balls. They were a huge hit!!!! We were told by all our guests the meatballs were delish. They served all 120 guests so quickly and the truck looked awesome in our photos. Plus they were also nice enough to bring along a few veggie balls for our handful of vegetarians. We'd definitely recommend them for your event! read more

I am probably one of the pickiest vegetarian eaters in all of Philadelphia, so I am the lastttt person you will find at a Meatball food truck! Two years ago, I accompanied a friend of mine to the Oval and VERY reluctantly took a SMALL bite of her Veg-D-Ball...I mean the girl was/is drop dead gorgeous, so how could I say no? :) If I was on death row, and I had to make my last meal request, then it would be a couple Mama's Veg-D Balls and a Blood Orange SanPellegrino. read more

Mamas has been on my Philly food bucketlist when I saw they won top 10 in the country for meatballs and needless to say I was so thrilled when I came across their food truck at the night market. It was a no brainer that I had to check out the hype. The guys at the truck were so nice and super friendly, they ended up giving me 2 for the price of one since I didn't get the bun. WIN. These were so delicious. Chicken, jalapeno, cheese, sauce and a TON of spicy flavor. The meatballs were so moist and literally melted in your mouth! My mouth is drooling as I type this. read more

A brand new comer to the Philly food truck scene, Mikey of Mama's Meatballs is taking these Italian treats to a whole 'nother level! The standard Mama's ball is your expected beef/pork/veal mix in a delicious sauce (er, gravy, if you will), but the ballsy goodness doesn't stop there! A turkey and broccoli rabe ball stuffed with asiago cheese? Why not?! Sausage balls mixed with long hots and crushed red pepper stuffed with horseradish cheddar? Now Datz-a-Spicy Ball! They even have a Veg-da-ball if you want to spare the animal, but eat balls anyway. Served up on slider rolls for a great price, these balls will bring joy to your mouth. So far they are doing a great job of posting daily truck locations as well as daily ball specials on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/MamasMeatballs). I hope they keep up the good work; Philly needs some great low-key meatball options. It's also hard not to root for the cute little Italian guy in the truck. read more

Mama's was next door to Undrgrnd Donuts at the Chinatown Night Market and while I had a friend placeholding in that line for me, I hopped over to Mama's to grab some meatballs (which was luckily moving quickly enough through their line that I was in and out in a snap). I got three of the classic meatballs and was happy to see that each meatball is served on an individual slider, making the sharing process much easier and less messy. The meatballs themselves came coated in just the right amount of gravy and really did taste just like what your mama would make at home. Unfortunately, I thought the rolls that the meatballs came on left a lot to be desired (just normal potato rolls) and added too much starch to the meal (which took away from the meatballs). I would forego the roll next time and just order a pile of meatballs. read more

I hit up this truck in City Hall's courtyard. The turkey meatballs were stuffed with cheese and delicious! Great price for a quick lunch!

I tried this food truck during one of the food truck pop ups. They were a bit pricey, but I think they upcharged b/c part of the proceeds went to a charity. So, maybe they do not regularly cost that much. I think it was $5 for a slider and $13 for 3. The bread was delicious, nice and didn't fall apart from the sauce ( which was good.) Hubs had the plain meatballs and thought that they were ok. I had one of the specialty ones, can't remember which one, but it had cheese in the middle. I loved it! I would definitely go back, more often if it really is cheaper. The service was great, they were all personable and you could tell they were working to keep up with the crowd (which was huge). They did run out of a certain kind of meatball, well they needed to cook the broccoli. People easily switched their orders w/o much of an issue. read more

I recently worked with Mike over at Mama's Meatballs to set up a food truck event at the residential community I work at. He was such a pleasure to work with, and made the entire event a breeze. He was very reasonably priced and worked within my budget. There were several options and the food was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend Mike & Mama's Meatballs, and I hope to work with them again in the future! read more

The meatball was good. I tried a Datz A Spicy Ball, made with hot sausage, Jalapeño, and cheese. It had good flavor and was moist, but was a little inconsistent. Some parts of the meatball were absolutely loaded with flavor, others... not so much. If everything was minced up inside the meatball a bit more, I could see this being pretty great. While the meatball was served on bread, I think you are just better off eating it with a fork. The bread could not really hold up to the meatball, mine fell apart the second I touched it. The bread wasn't anything special, either. It just made it harder to eat. read more

If you love meatballs, you'll love mama's! I see this food truck everywhere in Philadelphia. It's like Mama knows what I need. Every food event that is held in Philadelphia, Mama is there. She definitely has her tracks covered; marketing on point. I finally had the opportunity to try Mama's this past thursday at the Chinatown night market. I got their Rocky ball, Datz a spicy and the Mama's meatballs. All three were delicious, but I particularly liked the sweetness of Rocky and the spicy one. They definitely packed it up on the rolls, which filled me up pretty quickly. read more

Just visited this food truck at the Manayunk StrEAT Festival today. The line for their meatballs was pretty long so I had a feeling it would be pretty good and I was right! I got the Rabe Father meatball (1 meatball for $5) which was a turkey and broccoli rabe meatball stuffed with asiago cheese, topped with pesto, arugula, parmesean, and marinara sauce. You could also get 3 meatballs (any type) for $13. This meatball was so delicious and the flavors were perfect together. It had the right amount of marinara sauce on top too. Their service was very speedy too. I can't wait to find this food truck again in Philly! read more

Holy deliciousness. Let me start off by embarrassingly admitting that I am not a fan of meatballs. I know I know, how can I not be, right? Mama's definitely changed my mind about meatballs, and let me tell you why. First off, the texture of the meatball was exactly right. I had the Rocky Ball Boa (sweet sausage with peppers, onions, etc.) and the meatball was so juicy and tender but still maintained a firmness that held together with each bite. Secondly, the sauce was out of bounds. And I'm not joking- this may have been the best marinara sauce I've ever had. I will also admit that I am not in love with marinara sauce either. I'm an alfredo sauce kind of girl. However, this marinara had so much flavor and complexity that it was hard not to want a huge cup of it to drink. I'm thinking I will now have meatball cravings, which will be a first for me. Lucky, I know that Mama's will hit the spot! read more

We discovered Mama's at the Haddonfield Food Truck Festival and fell in love! Love the variety of balls! All the 5 star reviews here are right! These meatballs are amazing. I've been to this truck a few times now and they are always consistent. You know you are going to get a great meatball no matter what. They are beyond fresh and you can taste it. The ones that are stuffed with cheese have the perfect amount in it that it doesn't take away from the meat itself. The other flavors are also on point. Seasoned with just the right amount of ingredients and they blend well together. I first had them at the Manayunk Streat food festival and have been hooked ever since. Service is amazing and pricing is right. I can come, get the 3 meatball sandwich and walk away feeling full for a great price. Trust me on this....don't split it with someone. You will regret! Overall: I will keep coming back as long as they keep up with the quality and service they provide! AMAZING! read more

Best meatball sub I've ever had! I accidentally ran into this truck on my lunch break and decided to give it a try. This is a must try! I LOVE their meatballs. My favorite are the Blue Balls. They are so juicy and well seasoned. I work in center city and make it a point to visit this truck every time they are there. I have also gotten a good amount of coworkers to buy from this truck! The only downfall is that there are times they sell out some items by noon. If they could fix that issue, that would be great. Hence the 4 stars. read more
