    Sweet n salty

OMG OMG OMG!!!!! So this was totally worth the 45min-hour wait in the drizzling rain. Came back again last week because I saw that they were only in Love Park once this month, so I had to jump at the opportunity. I went all out and ordered 2 different types of waffle. One dessert and the other savory! Banh Mi pork belly waffle - probably the best waffle I have ever ever eaten in my life. The waffle with slaw, sriracha, jalepanos, creamy sauce, and the flavorful pork belly was HEAVEN. I devoured it. I first tried to eat it like a sandwich by picking it up, but it kinda fell apart, so I grabbed a fork. The fork wasn't getting it into my mouth fast enough, so back to the hands! I did not care how messy it got, I just cared about how wonderful it tasted in my mouth. Sweet n Salty waffle - Again, it was delicious, but after eating the banh mi waffle, I couldn't even finish half. The saltyness and sweetness of the bacon toffee was perfect with the marsacpone whip topping. This is def a waffle to eat by itself because it is very filling. Can't wait to go back!!! Drooling just writing this.

The pork belly banh mi waffle is soo stupid good! I am the biggest opponent of Asian fusion but Foolish Waffles has managed to prove me wrong. The fresh waffle and seared pork belly totally school the traditional crumbly baguette and ambiguous meat product. Even though the banh mi is highly altered, you still get the iconic pickled veggies and sliced jalapenos. It is an elevated version of the banh mi that is actually better than the original. Yeah, I went there. Of course, it's impossible to have perfect food come out of a truck. The waffle was flavorless and became soggy after 10 minutes. While the pickled red cabbage was a nice touch, it needed to be pickled longer to stand up to the savory pork belly and spicy jalapeno slices. Overall though it was excellent. I cannot wait to come back to try the chicken and waffles!

This review is limited to Foolish Waffles's fried chicken sandwich. It had been a few years since I'd had a version of this and was eager to try theirs. If you're like me, when you first think of a fried chicken waffle sandwich, you're hoping for crispy, juicy, flavorful chicken atop a lightly crisp waffle. This one checked all the boxes. The chicken was perfectly fried and very crunchy outside, with a nice seasoning but, in my opinion, just a little too sweet. I'd have hoped for a little more spice to offset what I think was intended to be something reminiscent of maple syrup; it wasn't overpowering by any means, but to me needed a spicy counterbalance. Yes, there are pickled jalapeno slices, but that doesn't quite do it, so add some of their hot sauce they offer on the side. The chicken was perfectly cooked and not the least bit dry. And the coleslaw was a great accompaniment. The waffle itself was very good, and particularly light. These kinds of waffle sandwiches are always hard to eat because the waffle breaks apart as you eat it and isn't really foldable to begin with, and that was the case here, but I'm young, I can handle life's challenges like this. I'd definitely try some of their other offerings, especially the salmon or dessert waffles. The banh mi, though, I'm dubious!

$5 I think, pork belly bahn mi

I'm going to have to give this place a near perfect rating. It's 5 stars in the realm of nouveau riche hipsters food trucks but compared to your classic center city food carts its slightly behind in terms of value. I got the pork belly bahn mi waffle. A.) because how often do you get pork belly and b.) how often does something bahn mi style. It was an excellent spicy savory sweet. I recommend loads of syrup on it. I originally tried to knife and fork this but a friend suggested to fold it and eat it which worked wonders.

Foolish Waffles is a roaming food truck that spends most of its time in Center City, Chestnut Hill, and East Falls. Their specialty is obviously waffles, but nothing like the waffles you eat for breakfast. I came here last Friday for lunch when you can find them parked at Love Park in Center City. I got here shortly after 12:00pm and there was already a decent amount of people at the truck. I could tell right off the bat that this was clearly a popular spot for lunch. I did some research on the truck beforehand and knew that they had an item on their menu called the Fried Chicken and Waffle. I've been aware of the chicken and waffles trend for quite some time but can honestly say that I've never tried this combination for myself. I'm not sure why but I'm guessing it just didn't peak my interest when I first heard about it back in college. After I saw this item at the top of their menu and read some of the reviews online, I figured it was finally time to give this a try. This appears to be one of the most popular items on their menu because the next three people to arrive ordered it as well. While $12.00 seemed a little pricey at the time, the size of their portions makes it all worth it. I think I waited about 10 to 15 minutes for my food, but there were a few other people waiting ahead of me so it didn't seem like that long. When I sat down to eat, I was very impressed with the presentation. On top of the waffle were fried chicken thighs glazed with chili honey. On top of that was a pile of coleslaw and pickled jalapeños. Chicken and waffles was interesting enough but coleslaw and jalapeños take it to the next level. I've been told the best way to eat chicken and waffles is to make sure you're combining the two with each bite. The waffle was light and fluffy, just like a waffle should be, but the chicken was what really blew me away. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the perfect combination of sweet and savory when you factor in the chili honey. Combine this with the coleslaw and jalapeños and you've got yourself a very interesting combination. Foolish Waffles is not afraid to be unique, and looking at their menu will give you an idea of what they're all about. If you like Italian food, the Hot Eye-Talian is likely right up your alley. If you like preparing cheese plates for social gatherings, check out Cheesus Take the Wheel. I know for a fact that I want to try the Tropical Delight because the description reminds me of a tropical vacation, something we all need in the middle of winter. They have a few "create your own" options as well where you can order waffles with any number of sweet toppings. Foolish Waffles is a food truck I would recommend to just about anyone. Whether you prefer sweet, savory, or any combination of both, you're bound to find something you like on the menu. After one visit, you'll realize waffles were meant for a lot more than just maple syrup.

Pretty good portions and flavors out of this truck. We had the bahn mi (pork belly) and the fried chix waffles at the truck at the Wissahickon brewery. For some reason things were a little cold, including thr waffle, on a fairly hot day. The flavors were not bad, but everything could have been a little better tasting. Not sure what exactly to point out... It probably will not be my first choice in trucks, but is definitely not bad.

The Foolish Waffles truck has been a staple at the Porch at 30th for a long time now. The menu has a great variety of sweet and savory options. Whether you're looking for a meal or a little snack, there's something to satisfy all levels of hunger. For a little snack, I enjoying doing the Brussels waffles with a little Nutella or some berries. For a savory treat, the Bahn Mi Pork Belly with the black pepper glaze and sriracha will satisfy it. Or if you're indecisive (like me) the Chicken Waffles is the ultimate balance of sweet and savory. While the crispy fried chicken and jalapenos (I don't like coleslaw, sorry) give it a nice savory taste, the honey glaze compliments it well to add the subtle sweetness needed, all on top of a waffle with a golden, crispy outer layer, with a fluffy, buttery center. If you haven't yet, make it a priority to come by this truck! Only thing to note is there's a small surcharge (0.50) if you're paying with a credit/debit card.

Waffles dream. Many waffles and many toppings. Sweet waffles, and savory waffles. ... And why should you try another waffle? (Hint: These are drool-worthy waffles.) If you're not planning on stopping by Foolish Waffles truck, anytime you see it, you need to re-evaluate your food choices. For savory waffles, try the fried chicken & waffles. Frighteningly delicious. For sweet waffles, indulge with the Nutella waffles. They're famous for a reason. Obviously! Four and Half Yelps.

Solid A. We happened to stumble upon this food truck while we were looking for places to eat. It was near by the 30th station and it was a hidden gem. We got the Fried Chicken & Waffle and the Pork Belly Banh Mi Waffle. Fried Chicken & Waffle. You would think since it is a food truck, its contents would be mediocre. I kid you not, the fried chicken was cooked perfectly. The chicken was soft and juicy in the inside and crispy on the outside. The slaw and the picked jalapenos gave it a good balance of the intense heat and the cool sweet from the slaw. Pork Belly Banh Mi Waffle. This food was on point as well. Pork belly wasn't too dry and the combination between the black pepper glaze, pickled cabbage, jalapenos, and cilantro took your mouth on a magical journey. You can ask for sriracha sauce on the side for those who wants to venture to the hot side.

FYI: Smallish portions for the price you pay. If you're looking to get full on a cheapish price, this is not what you want. The fiancé and I went out on the Saturday night before July 4th to get popcorn but ended up being sucked into the night market that was going on right outside my street instead. After a stop at our favorite dessert truck, Sugar Philly, we ran into this truck near the back end of the market. WHAT WE GOT: Hot diggity dog waffle PROS: The turn around time was pretty fast but I'm not sure if that's cause they had things prepped beforehand or they're just that fast. You can customize your order, which was good considering they had included jalapeños in the description but I'm not a huge fan of them. The hot dog was juicy and their cheese sauce was pretty good. Also props to them for letting people pay with card. HUGE plus. CONS: Okay I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and blame it on the fact that it was 1) a night market and 2) towards the end of said market but we got half a waffle as opposed to a whole one like in many of the photos posted. The waffle was also kinda mediocre. Like I definitely expected more. I don't know if thin and slightly rubbery was the texture they were going for but that's what we got. I expected something a bit more fluffy.

Got the banh mi waffle today and it was amazingly delicious. The flavors all melded together in perfect harmony and my taste buds were just jumping for joy. The pork belly was perfectly melt in your mouth goodness and the slaw had the perfect balance of acidic-salty-sweetness. There is not one thing I would change about this particular item. Mmmm mmmm mmmm!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is the best chickens and waffles I've ever had in Philly. The fact that it comes from a food truck is insane to me, the chicken comes out so juice and tender. Don't even get me started with how crispy the outside of the chicken is. The light touch of honey on top the chicken adds a lot to the dish as well. There's no way to give this place anything lower than 5 stars, especially when you take into account the cost/where it was made/ and serving size (very generous).

    Breakfast sandwich waffle!

This is my favorite food truck at the moment! You'd be excited to get waffles like these out of a brick-and-mortar store front, but even more excited when they come to your nabe on wheels! You get the exact experience you want when ordering from a truck. It's interesting, novel, yet high quality and satisfying. We had Foolish Waffles for the first time when they visited the Clover Market in Chestnut Hill on a chilly Saturday. The fiance and I purposely didn't eat breakfast and saved our sacred meal to be enjoyed truck-side at Clover Market. I ordered the breakfast sandwich waffle (habanero cheddar, scrambled eggs, bacon, and maple syrup), and the fiance ordered the fried chicken and waffles as expected. Both orders delighted. The ingredients in mine all fit so well together. The waffle ain't no ordinary waffle, either. Since Foolish Waffles will be in Chestnut Hill every Saturday morning, and as East Falls residents, I think we will be eating significantly more waffles in the future! And significantly larger breakfasts. I strongly suggest looking up their calendar and plan on visiting the truck when it's nearby!
