My hubby ordered the Greek skillet, I ordered the Greek omelet (which the eggs were cooked to perfection), my kids ordered the chocolates chip pancakes and the short mamas special. Solid mom and pops restaurant with a little bit of everything to appease even the pickiest of palates. Breakfast is served all day long, but the lunch and dinners here are what keeps me coming back. Their open face sandwiches are the jam! And they come with your choice of a starch and a vegetable, usually green beans. I usually get the meatloaf or turkey. Speaking of Turkey, their cream of turkey soup on Mondays is a home run! Definitely one of the better soups I've had in my life and it's stick to your ribs creamy! I've had some of the Italian dishes and they are okay. The Gyros are also pretty good, but won't knock your socks off or anything. I'd say they coffee was not as strong as I'd like but typical of many breakfast places. Wanted to try a highly reviewed restaurant so went for dinner to have the meatloaf which was highly rated. Total disappointment. It was bland, very dense and hard pressed like a solid flat brick. It was smothered with brown gravy which didn't help at all. The mashed potatoes were hard and someone used an ice cream scoop to put them on the plate and that's where it stayed, in one big ball. My friend had the eggplant parmigiana which was okay at best. Spaghetti was limp and no taste. However, the rolls were fresh and the salad with the homemade ranch was outstanding. Mamas Kitchen named after a Christian martyr in the year 275 from Capadocia. Who would've thought, you would think it was named after somebody's mom. My entire family, a group of nine, had come to St. Petersburg for a wedding. The hotel we were staying at had a pretty lame breakfast. I took to yelp, and Mamas kitchen popped up. Everybody in the group was for it, except my wife. She was a little leery. Anyway all of us got in, after a few minutes waiting for a table, we were seated. Hot coffee and water. When I took one look at the menu, and I saw all of the different Greek dishes at the offered. I knew I had redeemed myself. I had a Greek skillet. It was hashbrowns, vegetables, lots of feta cheese, you Greek gyro meat, oh yes and eggs. My breakfast was simply amazing. Others in my party had pancakes, waffles, I saw some biscuits and gravy, and everybody was plowing through their food. They had a really nice breakfast crowd on a Saturday morning. When I am back in this area, I will definitely stop by Mamas again. read more

Just ordered a breakfast burrito and was a little excited that they put potatoes (home fries) IN the burrito. Well - they do NOT, and those "home fries" are just standard hashbrowns. This is the actual verbage used on the Uber Eats menu: "Scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and home fries." I also added in the "Special Instructions" to make the potatoes "cripsy". I envisioned some pan fried potato chunks seared crispy and put into the burrito. The hashbrowns weren't even cripsy at all. More mush. The burrito was otherwise ok, but it's not cool when restaurants don't have their menus correct. Bad business. Won't be back. read more

Great experience- outdoor dining- we stopped for lunch for a 'Diner' it was above and beyond - Susana our server was excellent- attentive, friendly, efficient, offered suggestions- there is a small patio area for outdoor dining - ordered cod ala Mama which was floured seasoned and grilled - delicious! I had a friend who lives here ask me to meet him here for a late lunch. On the outside, it looks like a diner that's still stuck in the late 70s or 80s. Flipping through the menu, however, they had several Mediterranean and Greek dishes that were on lunch special. Super intrigued, I did order a chicken shwarma that came with pita bread. The plate had a generous helping of seasoned buttered rice, a salad, and chunks of chicken with several pita slices on top. The chicken was nicely seasoned and a little dry in the center, but it was surprising that I could get a decent food in a random diner. The navy bean soup they served was hearty and filling. Purchased a large Greek salad on January 15th between 4:30 and 5:00 pm. I specifically asked if it came with the potato salad. They said , yes it did. $11.52 for the salad and there was a smear of potato salad under the salad, 2 bites only! When we called and talked to the mgr. he said sorry, depends on who makes the salad. I would think that the restaurant would have a scoop to measure the amount so each salad receives the same amount. The oh well attitude by the mgr was enough, we won't be back. read more

Here's the deal with this place...me and my friend were the youngest ones here when we went for lunch. I'm not sure what that says, but it seemed to definitely impact the food. No strong seasonings and no spice is what came to mind after what I had which was the soup and the "Southwest" chicken wrap. I hate to quote Mr. Ramsay on here but you know how I'm saying it when I say "So bland." That being said, it was a good portion and cooked well but just seemed scared to put any seasoning on it to actually call it southwest. My friend had the chicken philly and actually said the same thing before I even mentioned it to him. I'm in no way saying this is a bad place or has bad food...it's just not for me. I had a simple French toast with bacon and my husband had the roast beef with veggies and salad. My French toast tasted like stale bread, it was soggy and probably made hours earlier. I couldn't even finish it and I normally love French toasts.The bacon was a piece of rubber. The coffee was dirty water. The roast beef was cooked through with no grace nor cooking pride.
