While looking for a good breakfast spot, the Fat Man ran across Mamas Kitchen Family Restaurant in Seminole, Florida. Mama's is an unfussy eatery preparing home style American & Greek meals from morning till night. I decided to try the Reuben Omelet and Home Fries. This is an omelet filled with Corned Beef, Sauerkraut, Swiss Cheese and Thousand Island Dressing on the side. The home fries were cooked well with a slight crust and excellent seasoning. The corned beef is tender, cooked and seasoned perfectly, it is sliced thin then chopped up. While the Sauerkraut is good it is even better if it was a little more sour or had a bit more pop to cut through the salt of the beef and the denseness of the egg. The omelet is cooked really well, fluffy with a touch of salt, while the thousand island is wonderful, it's chunky, sweet, creamy and homemade. The portion sizes were big with everything we ordered. Because it is breakfast, and I'm a Biscuits and Gravy junkie, I tried theirs as well. The biscuit is fluffy, light with a nice golden brown top and a good chew. The gravy is creamy, sausage heavy with great flavor and good seasoning, a slight pepper kick on the end which was absolutely wonderful. My fiancé tried the Waffle and bacon. The bacon was cooked really well slight crunch with a little chew. It also comes in pretty thick pieces. The waffle is perfect. Light, fluffy and a thick Belgian style. It is airy and chewy, and it soaks up the syrup. It was cooked to an amazing golden brown and there was a slight crunch when bitten into. Momma's has a huge menu, and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's proper diner food. The service was fast and friendly. The diner is in an unassuming building on the side of the road. The Fat Man says that Mama's Kitchen Family Restaurant is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins. read more

We dined in the back room area one afternoon, and this restaurant allowed a dog to sit/stand on a table. My understanding of FL law is that "if" a dog is a "service" dog, it must stay on the floor and not block an aisle. Food was good but I will not be back. Health Dept should be notified. read more

I am not impressed. In fact, I'm a little disappointed that I wasted a weekend breakfast opportunity on this place. With a name like Mama's Kitchen, I expected things to be made in house but it was very apparent that most (if not all) things were from a can. The menus are actually branded with Hormel on them, so I should've known right then and there. Service was decent. Not overly good or bad. The place kinda "feels" dirty. I couldn't put my finger on it but I really didn't even want my purse to touch the booth/wall. And my meal was served to me in a plate that had at least 5 chips in it. My favorite breakfast food, corned beef hash, is straight from the can here. I asked before I ordered so I appreciate the honesty. At $4.99 for a side of hash that is literally dumped from a can, I'll pass. I ordered the biscuits and gravy instead because the Yelp photos made it look delicious. Well, I'm pretty sure that came from a can too. It was thick and lacked flavor. It grossed me out actually. The only thing I'd actually order again was the home fries but they were greasy and could use some salt. For $26 I could've made a much better breakfast in my own kitchen. We had breakfast recently at this iconic breakfast place. My guy had his favorite scrambled eggs, potatoes and bacon (no matter where we go) and enjoyed every bite. I ordered the biscuit and sausage gravy with two eggs Sunnyside up. My breakfast came our cold, eggs cooked hard and tasting of the grill. The server graciously reordered my breakfast and it was better. The owner (or manager) came to the table and questioned how I had ordered the eggs and blamed the server. Really? Super great! One of them diners you go into and it's a bunch of old locals. Went in the morning for breakfast and it wasn't bad at all. It was busy but staff was on top of it and was super polite. Checked this place out over on Seminole Blvd since I've driven by it a few times. Honestly, nothing to write home about. The most of the food was okay, the servers were nice but nothing really special about it. I liked the set up of the restaurant, the bright windows were nice and keep the place at a comfortable temp. I was disappointed they don't offer any dairy free creamers or milk to drink with coffee so I did not get any. The meal I got was the biscuits and sausage gravy with eggs and hash browns. The biscuits had little flavor but good consistency. The eggs were cooked just as requested. The hash browns were not good, the top was crispy cooked in one spot but the rest of the hash browns were not cooked enough to my liking. They were more mashed potato style than hash brown if that makes sense. My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito with ham which he loved, he didn't care much for the hash browns either. The two things I will say are that the waffle was wonderful and the servers were very friendly. I probably won't go back since I didn't care for the food. read more

We've been frequenting Mama's for years as it is a very nice, clean & friendly family restaurant where portions are large & hearty and breakfast is served all day! The menu is quite extensive and their breakfast offerings are really great. Their omelette's and breakfast skillet's are excellent. I had the "Tex-Mex" omelette & hash browns with toast and a side of grits while she had the eggs Benedict over crab cakes. Everything was great but the hollandaise sauce for the Benedict could use just a little improvement! Most everything we've ever had there and it's been a lot - has been 4.0-4.5 stars. It's not quite gourmet, but it's great family style restaurant fare and the value is high for the price paid. Their gyros, Philly cheesesteak and Corned Beef offerings are also excellent! The restaurant has a great following from the locals and after a visit or two it's easily understood. It's been about a bi-monthly regular stop for us for about two decades and probably always will be. Keep a rockin Mama! They also offer carry out, delivery and have a small outdoor dining area at the front entrance for those who like al fresco dining when weather permits. read more

My boyfriend wanted to try Mamas Kitchen because it's very close to our house, and we notice it's always poppin every day. We went in "early" for Sunday breakfast, and by 9 am, the place is mostly full. We didn't wait too long for a table, but the line certainly got longer by the time we were done eating. Boyfriend got the Mamas Special, which included French Toast with eggs (any style) and choice of meat (he chose bacon). The French toast was fluffy, and I definitely stole a piece or two... I ordered the Red Neck, which is two poached eggs over sausage patties, and a homemade biscuit, topped with sausage gravy. This is an awesome twist to an eggs benedict, and a hearty one at that! The eggs were cooked perfectly, and absolutely SMOTHERED in gravy. It also came with a huge side of hash browns. It's tight quarters at Mamas Kitchen, but everyone works fast and efficiently there. When you're done eating, you take your check to the front counter to pay. Check our change if you pay in cash, because the cashier gave us the wrong change back. Mamas Kitchen is the spot to go if you are looking for a solid, affordable, local breakfast diner in South Seminole. The food is always good. It isn't anything amazing, but it is tasty and affordable. I mostly eat omelets and salads here. I've had the bacon (meh..thin, salty, and greasy) and probably a few other things that I can't recall here as well. The omelets are very tasty. They have a lot of different combinations or you can build your own omelet. I forget what it is called, but I like the Mexican inspired omelet that comes with salsa and sour cream. I also really love the Greek omelet. They are large omelets that can be difficult to finish. They are fluffy and stuffed full of toppings and cheese. The salads are also fresh and tasty. Their ranch is really good and tastes homemade. Mamas Kitchen will remain a go-to when I am in the area for breakfast and hungry. I have always left happy.
