Came here with 7 other ladies on a Wednesday night to enjoy the Wednesday special, half prived appetizers and 2 for 1 lemon drop martini. Our server name was Jose. Jose seemed to be doing everything that night, bartender, waiter, hostess. There were two other people there when we arrived, others came later on. The Lemon drop was pretty tasty. I enjoyed my spicy octopus, the sauce had a nice kick to it. However the plantain chips that accompanied the octoous was not good. They had no salt, garlic, no taste to it at all. Came here on a whim, having driven by it a time or two. Mamajuana's is a large lounge/club style venue with a Latin theme. It has two bars, one you can sit at, & one you just order drinks from. It has a lower level & an upper level with seating, as well DJ/VIP area. The music is exactly what you would expect, & it can certainly be very loud at times. There is street parking, & a lot (not associated with the venue) across the street. You can come dressed up, or casual, they use touch screen tablet menus, friendly staff, & they offer hookah for a fee. A very nice & modern venue. Bathrooms are downstairs, & they are very clean & well maintained. Food...we had the Bocaditos Roll, Mamajuana Roll, Empanadas (Beef, Chicken, & Shrimp), a Margarita, & a Mojito. All of the food was good, the Mamajuana roll had an element that seemed a bit stale, I feel it was the plantain part. Overall, a very nice experience, albeit way too loud for my taste. Came to this place on a Friday evening around 5:30. The place was pretty empty. It only had 2 larger tables occupied. We were seat immediately and had a choice of where to sit. We sat under the canopy which was beautifully decorated with faux flowers and fruits. The place is beautifully decorated overall. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. I got the passion fruit mojito and my sister got the white sangria. I also got the POLLO CRIOLLO and my sister got the CHICHARRONCITOS and AGUACATE MAJAO. The food and drinks came out quickly. The drinks where really strong and good. The food was on point as well. My rice was a bit dry and the beans could have had more salt, but all in all it was really good. We also got the tres leches for dessert. Eat it was like diabetes. It was overly sweet, I could not finish it. But if it wasn't that sweet, it would of been on point. I went here on a Groupon. It was SUPERB! The mofongo was like I've never experienced before. The chicken was cooked to perfection. It was soft and smooth, it came with a sauce that kind of reminded me of a penne vodka sauce lol it wasn't typical but it was SO good. I could've lived without the ceviche but it was fine. The Maduros were cooked to PERFECTION. The flan wasn't the jiggly jello type it was firm, thick and rich! Oooooo I LOVED it. Went to Mamajuana for the first time for their brunch. Atmosphere was nice, I liked the floral decor, walking in was a breeze. Although I didn't have any reservations, my guest and I were seated immediately, hostess was very pleasant, it was a 2hr buffet and unlimited drinks. The buffet choices were good! I had the lobster and shrimp mofongo, and the lobster tail had barely any meat it in, one side was actually empty and the other side was only 20% full. This was disappointing for the price point. The coconut shrimp just tasted like fried shrimp, (over-fried,) the dipping sauce helped a little. The steak was ok, decently cooked and seasoned. Chicken wings were average, (a little small with little meat.) drinks were just ok as well. A+ on ambiance, it's a big, cool looking place, but the food and drinks aren't worth it. Came here on a Thursday night after work since i had a Groupon that was about to expire. The place was relatively empty when i got there but packed up quickly due to a soccer match being played later in the evening . The waitresses were pleasant although we had a language barrier, we were able to work it out. My food was bland as hell. The salad had a bland dressing that i had to use and salt to make tolerable. The plantains were good. Can't mess that up too much. The star of the show, the fried fish was a dud. It was fresh, which i more than appreciated but had no damn flavour. They just cleaned it, floured it and fried it. It tasted like paper. I had to ask for hot sauce (they only had buffalo sauce) to make it tolerable. I wouldn't go back to this place. This new location is gorgeous inside ! Spacious and such a vibe. I came on a Tuesday night and it was really slow in there so service was fast. I tried the chicken sushi roll and it was actually very good. I wanted to try the crab cake however they were out. The bartender made the drinks super strong which can be good or bad depending on the person but that was fine with me. When are they going to give us the option of giving zero stars as an option? I didn't want to give them 1 star. I was at a birthday celebration for my niece and the service was deplorable. After having us wait for over an hour and switching us from a table to the back to upstairs after almost an hour and a half we finally realized this is where we were staying. It was the server's first day and she had no help at all. She overcharged me for my drink, added on a tip then told me that was the price for the drinks. She couldn't remember to bring simple things like water. After several of us had to go to the bar to speak to the host several times at the end of the party they finally sent up help. Several of us were so tired of the poor service and the poor quality of the things we did receive, so we left. They served a steak that was hard and severely overcooked. When another meal was requested it never came. I ordered a salad at the beginning of the evening that 2 hours later I never received. Great atmosphere and the vibes were simply unlike any place I've really been to before. Love the sunflower theme and the view of Manhattan is incredible. Started off the night with a passion fruit margarita (which was great--just the right blend of passionfruit and tequila). I got this lovely tapas plate with calamari, empanadas, popcorn chicken, skewers, etc. The family style churrasco was OK--a bit well done and there wasn't really any chimichurri. The maduros were AWESOME (I definitely had about 12 and don't regret it at all). Very impressed with the paella and cod. Overall great place to party at while eating top notch cuisine!! I went to eat there with my family looking for a new and exciting experience and what I found was a nightmare. For appetizers I ordered some kipes and they were horrible. They tasted like the meat inside went bad. I told the waiter to take them back and she thought I was kidding or something because I still got charged for them. Probably the WORST service I have ever received. Upon walking into an empty host stand, we waited a few minutes while the one server on duty and bartender chatted amongst each other and looked at us confused. I understand it was a slow Monday night (12/16/24), but we were nowhere near the closing time. Once the host decided to come seat us, we were sat a table. She took our drink order and once those were delivered, she asked if we wanted any apps. We ordered a LARGE $40 appetizer, and once we received that, she never came back to ask for our entree order. Once we were done with the appetizer, we requested to put in entrees, and she looked confused. She walks away with an attitude and goes into kitchen. After some time, she comes back to the table to tell us they are only doing appetizers. (This could have been said from the beginning, and we would have been okay and maybe went somewhere else). English was not her first language, but half of us at the table spoke Spanish so that was not an issue. We put in some other appetizers, and she was NOT happy about that even thought that was what was offered. The appetizers come out super-fast, and it showed with the quality of the food. We order another round of drinks, to which she once again, rolls her eyes, and heads to give the order to bartender. Once we finish, in a timely manner, we request the bill. She took our cards without dropping the bill and goes to close out. I had to request an itemized receipt. We were charged for an extra appetizer we did not order. (Had the service been somewhat decent, I would've not said anything). I did speak up and request they removed that from check, but she stated she would have to do a full refund on cards and charge again. She then offered to give us the cash but came back and said she could not do that either. I kindly requested they just settle the difference with drinks. They did give us a round of shots, once it was all said and done. But overall, the service was garbage. The bathroom was absolutely filthy and the restaurant was fairly empty. I have extensive history working in the industry, so I am well aware of service flow and customer service. THIS WAS NOT IT. The gratuity was already added on top of everything else and I chose not to dispute it. I am a big fan of Mamajuana, but this location has lowered the standard for this restaurant chain. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I came here with my mom and sister because we saw this place was trending on Tik Tok and we genuinely thought we'd give it a try since it's close to where I live. We went there during the weekday during opening week or the week following opening. We saw the place wasn't full so we thought we'd get our food quickly since we were super hungry. We were seated at the table and it took the waitress over 15 minutes to come take our order. We looked past it and decided to order 3 or 4 appetizers to give the place a try first. After we placed our order we asked the waitress if we could have water and that took over 15 minutes as well. At this point it had we were possibly there for over 45 minutes and we had no got our appetizers and we asked the waitress if the food is coming out and she mentioned that the kitchen was backed up and it should be coming out shortly. I think after 20-30 minutes we still didn't receive our food so we asked the waitress one last time if the food was coming out and she said it's not ready yet. At this point, my family was annoyed we had not gotten our appetizers and that the service was SO slow on a day where the place was not packed. Finally we called the waitress and told her we'd like to cancel our order and she said no problem and did not apologize for the food not being ready. I would not go to this place, the service alone did not allow for us to try the food or anything. Mamawana in Plainfield was just a mess. I booked for a party of 12 for brunch on Sunday Super Bowl and it was empty you would think there would be more service from the staff nope, we had to multiple time hunt down our waiter or any random staff member to attend our table just to even have water on the table took them half an hour to get. The attitude from some of the staff my party had to deal with was uncalled for. The atmosphere was okay they do decorate nice. The worst part out of my experience was to find some type of bug inside my food everyone in my party did not want to eat anymore. it was disgusting I will not be returning and now I can't look at any brunches the same. I will not be returning here and when the problem was expressed to management they try to make excuse about the bugs coming from the fake plants. NO! It was inside the food that whole platter of food was still left out for other customers to eat and I just got disgusted. You would think we would get treated better after finding a bug but no. This place was one of the worst experience I have ever had , I have been there twice always sat at the bar, the first time the bartender was friendly and drinks were average, I always drink grey goose martini, second time On February 20th I sat at the bar again because it's nice atmosphere, at this time I ordered the same grey goose MartinI , this lady gave me lest than half of the glass it looked like someone had drunk already , I didn't say anything because I work in a restaurant I pay $30 dollars for Two half of glass I feel like this place will go down if they continue stealing money from guest , on top of that they addd the tips and drinks took forever there were only 5 guest at the bar , when she gave me the check she make fun of me with other people I will never recomment this place , they way too far to be proffesional, bad bad place they don't know joe to make drinks okk read more

My wife and I visited with our 2 grandchildren and I must say that the restaurant is really nice. The food was good, but the prices are outrageous. Luckily we had a Groupon. Before the discount, our bill was $186!! We had 1 app, 2 entrees and 1 kids meal. We also had 1 drink each. $186!! After the discount, the bill was $95. I don't see how they will be able to last in that area with those prices. I doubt whether I would go back. read more
