Came to this place on a Friday evening around 5:30. The place was pretty empty. It only had 2 larger tables occupied. We were seat immediately and had a choice of where to sit. We sat under the canopy which was beautifully decorated with faux flowers and fruits. The place is beautifully decorated overall. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. I got the passion fruit mojito and my sister got the white sangria. I also got the POLLO CRIOLLO and my sister got the CHICHARRONCITOS and AGUACATE MAJAO. The food and drinks came out quickly. The drinks where really strong and good. The food was on point as well. My rice was a bit dry and the beans could have had more salt, but all in all it was really good. We also got the tres leches for dessert. Eat it was like diabetes. It was overly sweet, I could not finish it. But if it wasn't that sweet, it would of been on point. All in all, I can see myself as being a regular here.

I went here on a Groupon. It was SUPERB! The mofongo was like I've never experienced before. The chicken was cooked to perfection. It was soft and smooth, it came with a sauce that kind of reminded me of a penne vodka sauce lol it wasn't typical but it was SO good. I could've lived without the ceviche but it was fine. The Maduros were cooked to PERFECTION. The flan wasn't the jiggly jello type it was firm, thick and rich! Oooooo I LOVED it. The tre leche was served in a cup which isn't typical but it was sweet & addictive. I do however wish they sold coffee & had the bread pudding. BUT now I've gotta come back ! They have brunch on Sundays so I'll be there! I will say it's a little pricey so it's a nice spot for first impressions lol The ambiance is good for social media so get ready to take pix. & they have hookah

This place caught our attention with the music and the decor. This restaurant is definitely giving party vibes with a chill atmosphere. The service was immaculate! The waitress was able to give suggestions and her suggestions were spot on. The food was delicious and the mango sangria topped off everything beautifully. Will definitely be coming here again!

Fried snapper, plantains and green salad.

Came here on a Thursday night after work since i had a Groupon that was about to expire. The place was relatively empty when i got there but packed up quickly due to a soccer match being played later in the evening . The waitresses were pleasant although we had a language barrier, we were able to work it out. My food was bland as hell. The salad had a bland dressing that i had to use and salt to make tolerable. The plantains were good. Can't mess that up too much. The star of the show, the fried fish was a dud. It was fresh, which i more than appreciated but had no damn flavour. They just cleaned it, floured it and fried it. It tasted like paper. I had to ask for hot sauce (they only had buffalo sauce) to make it tolerable. I wouldn't go back to this place. Not worth the drive or the Groupon.

Coconut margarita and corona drinks are good not watered down.

This place is great for a date night or if you just want to chill with some friends for some delicious Dominican cuisine. Our server Demi was very attentive and the music kept you dancing in your chair all night. The food was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to coming back often.

Great atmosphere and the vibes were simply unlike any place I've really been to before. Love the sunflower theme and the view of Manhattan is incredible. Started off the night with a passion fruit margarita (which was great--just the right blend of passionfruit and tequila). I got this lovely tapas plate with calamari, empanadas, popcorn chicken, skewers, etc. The family style churrasco was OK--a bit well done and there wasn't really any chimichurri. The maduros were AWESOME (I definitely had about 12 and don't regret it at all). Very impressed with the paella and cod. Overall great place to party at while eating top notch cuisine!! Be weary of the overpriced photos though!

It doesn't feel crowded. I've been to El Viejo Fred twice and both times did not disappoint. The first time I accompanied my Dominican friend who ordered for me. The second time I was on my own, but the ladies were very helpful and we made it happen. Most of the food is behind the counter in a covered buffet-style setup. You let them know what you are interested in, beef, chicken etc, and they'll show you the offerings. You can't beat their lunch special at around $12-15. You get a giant portion of rice & meat, add on a bit of salad and you're good to go! The food is so delicious, the flavors are all there. I also had the chicken and cheese empanadas as well as beef and both tasted great, I liked the beef best it was very well seasoned. Another bonus? Tamarind juice!! Not many places have it so I'm always ecstatic when I see it on a menu. Both my friend and I really enjoyed the food we purchased from El Viejo Fred, and the friendly service we received, we will definitely be back!

The food here is 5/5, not to mention the rotating menu and the, the empanadas, tres leches cakes, and their soups. They make soups in Thursdays a d Sundays, but they usually have the pernil, like 2 beef dishes and they rotate ribs, chicken, and beef steak. Yuca, white rice, black rice, and the rice and beans are usually there every time I have went. The service is attentive, they ask you what size large or small and they start with the rice, then over to the meats. The restaurant smells so appetizing upon entering. It is newly renovated, clean and organized so you can dine in or take out. The staff is very nice and I have come here about 5 times since they opened.

There are also some sides available. I always got oxtail. It's good, but a bit pricey for the amount of meat you get. Others have ordered the pepper steak before and the portions for that are great. The rice is definitely on the salty side, but is good overall. I do appreciate that the lady working there is always generous with pouring extra sauce on our rice as well. We also tried the tres leches during our last visit and would get it again. It had the perfect texture and sweetness.
