This was my 1st time coming here, I live maybe 5 min away. The reviews are what made me want to try this place out, but to be honest I could have saved the trip. I got the shrimp pad Thai & shrimp in the blanket as an appetizer. The shrimp at first bite were delicious and had a nice crunch from the egg roll it was wrapped in. After taking a few more bites, it began to give me a weird after taste in my mouth. The pad Thai was terrible. It literally looked nothing like the pictures or pictures customers took. They had to change ingredients. Firstly, the noodles were short & thick I've never had pad Thai with anything other than thin noodles. I asked for no bean sprouts, but they must've dished all the ingredients! There was no carrots, green onion, cashews, the shrimp was ridiculously bland. The entry dish was bland. And just like the shrimp in the blanket it left a terrible after taste. I would call them to complain, but sometimes you just don't want to make yourself even more upset. For the price, this should have been tastier. I won't be back. read more

My new go-to place that serves GF Thai food! We have ordered the GF Pad Thai, GF Beef Broccoli and GF Cucumber Salad. All very good. Tea serving is very generous in a huge mug. Food presentation is nice and wait staff is very friendly and patience to explain menu for those with food allergies. It's a little farther than my usual place but definitely worth the drive. I've gotten two other people hooked on this place who are also willing to drive 20 minutes to get there from Dunning/Jefferson Park. A bonus is that if you pay with cash for orders over $30, you get free egg rolls or orders over $75 get a free pad Thai. I think this may only apply to dine-in options. Not sure. We were also happy to have GF/V dessert options for like sorbet when going out for a celebratory meal. I've eaten in here about 3 times this summer and carried out once. All experiences were good. Cute decor but their bathroom needs a serious upgrade which would make for an all-around great experience. I would give it five stars if the bathroom was more appealing. read more

Chicken Soup was all instant rice Tom Kai was not coconut milk. Owner wouldn't split something into two containers. The food is normally very good but I don't think that it's appropriate to put all rice and 1/2 cup broth into a size large. It's soup weather, sad! read more

DONT EAT HERE!!!! Me and My grandson were at Mama Thai to eat and, my grandson went to use the restroom and came back FRIGHTENED telling me that there, are cockroaches in the men's bathroom. I went to report ADMITTEDLY to the cashier and they said they will spray and, after they sprayed they told my grandson to use the women's bathroom and use the bathroom there, my grandson went to the women's bathroom and saw MORE cockroaches. After they said they spray often, my grandson used the bathroom finding another cockroach. He had nothing to do so he went to the bathroom, Me and My Grandson were SO disgusted that we left the restaurant. DO NOT EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!! Decent and reliable Thai restaurant with a mix of more traditional Thai dishes and some less so. They've got a solid lunch menu though the options are a little limited for vegetarians and pescatarians. Extra bonus points, though, for the tofu appetizer with peanut sauce... I have yet to find any other Thai place as good as this one! I haven't been in 6 years honestly because I moved, but I miss this place so much! I've lived 5 different states other than Illinois, visited countless cities, and eat Thai food a lot but still nothing compares to them. Edit: I ordered from them a few days ago via post mates and they are just as good, if not better than what I remembered! I'm not the type to leave reviews, but I went out of my way to leave one for Mama Thai. Not only was the food extremely satiating, delicious, and hot upon arrival but it was also the first time I've ever felt like paying for delivery was truly worth it. We had the Golden Crab and Fried Tofu. Both of which were fried to perfection and paired with the perfect dipping sauces. That's coming from a couple southerners, so you know we know our fried foods. We also shared the Pad Khee Mao, which was also perfectly spicy and definitely lived up to the "Drunken Noodles" moniker. I don't think this place really stands out to me as take out food worth the money. Oak Park generally has a very limited Asian selection for food, so when I stopped by after work, I didn't have the patience to drive further through rush hour traffic to the north side. I didn't like the very fishy pad Thai and thought the pad kee mao was decent. I had to squeeze two limes over the noodles to mask the overused fish sauce. Portions are generous and the vegetables they used tastes fresh. What disappointed me were the sauce, the meat, and noodles. They weren't all on par. I will say the potstickers were crispy and excellent as an appetizer. read more

Clearly. "MAMA" is not there. The last two times that my husband and I visited, the food was not as good as it was in the past. We made coming to this restaurant in absolute treat (we are not from around there). Yesterday, when we placed an order over the phone, the lady who took the order was very rude. And I know the difference between being culturally different in tone, and simply nice/nasty. Homegirl was definitely nice/nasty. Clearly we have language barriers, so asking for someone to repeat an order shouldn't be an issue. Her response was, "I already repeated it." Her tone was Passive aggressively rude. She said it more than once. "I already repeated the order. Do you want me to repeat again?". Well, yes please! We just wanted to make sure that the order was correct so neither one of us would be frustrated correcting a finish order. Hopefully we can see mama soon. Our food tasted like it was reheated it in a microwave. As for now, I will pass on this restaurant for a while. It's not fun eating negative energy based off bad customer service. read more

First time eating here and I have to tell you it was underwhelming. I've heard some good things about this place but I'll have to seriously doubt the reviews now. I am a vegan and I wanted to make sure before I sat down that I can order. The head person said that they will accommodate me so that was great. I ordered the tofu soup (no chicken broth), the spring roll and Pad Se Ew. I am NOT into spices at all (I just exposed my palette to black pepper not too long ago) but I have to tell you, this was the most bland and boring dish I've ever tasted, not a trace of even ONE spice. There was absolutely no flavor in the noodles at all. And the dish could have done without all of the shredded cabbage and carrots and whatever vegetables that they put in there. I barely tasted the flavor of the carrots. The water had more taste and flavor than the entire dish. I guess I'm going to have to find YET ANOTHER Thai restaurant close to me or just give up eating Thai. One thing for sure, I will never eat at Mama Thai again. read more

Very good pad Thai ... i got the chicken pad Thai and it was some of the best pad Thai i have had in a long time. All the ingredients are fresh. I also got the blanket shrimp... which were fried and seasoned to perfection! I love the sweet and sour dipping sauce that comes with the shrimp. I wasn't a big fan of the fried rice... it was kind of bland in my opinion. But those baby egg rolls were delicious also. It's small chicken bites rolled and fried served with the sweet and sour dipping sauce. This place is a must try. read more

Mango & Sticky Rice dessert is the BOMB! We came back two days in a row. Everything is authentic and the papaya salad is an amazing starter. We also had the pot stickers & baby chicken egg rolls. For entrees, I had the green curry chicken (PERFECT) and my daughter had the crab fried rice. My only wish was that the crab was freshly steamed and the meat came straight out of a cracked leg. Though my daughter loved it, I could tell it came from a jar/can. At least it wasn't that imitation kind, so points for that. I think I want to try their red curry next time. read more

I've spent the 5 years since looking for Thai food that rivaled their restaurant and Mama Thai is it! The Tom yum soup here is one of my favorite dishes ever. It is so flavorful bright! I also am in love with the taro pearl dessert and the Thai tea. I have ordered online many times and recently ate in restaurant for the first time. I've always received excellent service. Note that delivery through third party apps can take a while but I think it's mostly because they receive so many pickup orders. I'd recommend pickup over delivery if you are close, it will be a little quicker. read more

This place is great! I came here with my wife for lunch and really enjoyed our dishes. We got the egg rolls and the tempura platter for appetizers. You can't go wrong with tempura. Seriously. They had wrapped their shrimps in slices of wonton paper and then fried them. My wife loved it, but personally I'd rather taste more of the shrimp. Still good though. I got a salad with chicken slices and a light, summery dressing on it. It had flavors of coconut milk, lemongrass and peanut in there. Very refreshing and satisfying! I just wish I could remember the name. I did take a picture, though. My wife got some pad see eiw and it was super tasty. Had a little extra sweetness to it. Restaurant Review This is a very solid Thai restaurant in the Oak Park/Maywood area which is pretty amazing considering the choices around here. I have been to this location once and parking is difficult as it is all street parking. The restaurant is very cozy and the waitress are usually friendly. Back in the day they had lunch specials, however I don't see those online any more. I will speak of there delivery service. Overall on time although alot 30 to 45 min for delivery. Food arrives hot. The curry and pad thai dishes are top notch and they can modify the spiciness of the different curry dishes to your specifications. I would go with the panang curry which hits the spot in the winter time. Kicked myself for living in Oak Park for 7 years without going here! Good thai, very reasonable prices, great service. Seems like a great family-owned type of place where most of the patrons appear to be "regulars". Wine list is not super extensive but for the price, you get a good selection of mid-range wines in terms of price. Just about any wine lover could find something good on the menu. Have tried several dishes and have loved them all. Pad Siew is my favorite, but the BBQ pork dish is also wonderful. Their specials rotate fairly regularly and whenever duck is on the list my husband will order it, and it is also delcicious. I do recommend the appetizer sampler if you're hungry and in the mood for a LOT of different items. Couldn't decide what was my favorite, everying was really good! Parking can be a pain on busy nights since it is a majot thoroughfare and some side streets are permit. But it's really nowhere near what you get downtown, so just loop around and you'll get lucky :) Or even better, they deliver if you live nearby! read more
