    New England Clam Chowder
    Cheryl M.

This place is a soup buffet, about 12 varieties of soup. I tried the veggie chili, the broth part was good but I didn't like a lot of the veggies in there ie: peppers, celery, carrots. I really enjoyed the New England clam chowder , it has a slightly Smokey flavor and the seafood bisque is tasty also. I will definitely be returning to try them all throughout the fall/winter.

Grilled Cheese, not enough cheese and not melted enough. Very skimpy looking.

If you're looking for soup, this is definitely the place. I tried the chicken pot pie soup and a grilled cheese. As I expected the grilled cheese was thin, not melted enough and really could pass on it. Need to upgrade it a bit and not make it like a 2nd grader made it. Chicken pot pie soup was very filling and filled with chicken, veggies, the right spice and flavorful. Also comes with a yummy biscuit. I'd come back and try the other soups and maybe a stand out sandwich.

I ordered from here for years!!!! My family has owned a deli for 15+ years and never in my life would I ever charge $7.49 for one egg white , bacon & cheese on a roll. My co worker ordered two scrambled, avocado & cheese on a bagel and played the same. So basically I was told I am paying for two eggs bacon and cheese plus $1.49 for egg whites. Yet I only got one egg white. Which if anyone knows one egg white is nothing. It could be me but this is excessive for pricing. I order from them at least 2-3 times a week but no more. I will decline from now on when my office orders with them. So disappointed. The owner is so sweet and I love the food but this was not OK.

Grilled cheese where the cheese isn't even melted..

Grabbed lunch here the other day. They had a grilled cheese for $2.99 that I did with American cheese. The cheese wasn't even melted, it was disgusting. I got a potato leek soup that had absolutely no flavor and chunks of leek. It wasn't puréed all the way. They even charged $5.49 for the 16oz. They have plenty of soup options but what a disappointment.

What?! How is this chicken noodle soup?!

Honestly wanted to give this place two stars but couldn't find a reason...only go to this place bc it's convenient considering i work across the street. Chicken soup that I'll post a picture of isn't good, mostly celery and onions, tastes like celery water with chicken in it Cold chicken that comes on salad is gross Idk how but the BLTs always taste like tuna, maybe they use the same knife? Also barely any bacon on it One good thing there is the macaroni salad, it's bomb If you can avoid it go elsewhere, unless you like $5 celery water...

Custom Salad with Romaine, Chick Peas, Black Olives, Hard Boiled Egg, and Avocado. Balsamic Vinaigrette on the side.

Mama Soup you have a special place in my heart. The girls on the phone and delivery people are always polite and efficient. Quite frankly I'm a big fan! I either always opt for the Potato Leek soup or a Custom Salad with Romaine, Chick Peas, Black Olives, Hard Boiled Egg and Avocado. Their soups are delicious. The Chicken Pot Pie soup is something I sometimes take home because it's that hearty and that awesome. They also take care of special requests. Such as a biscuit on the side with the pot pie soup. No problem! Have I ever been in the establishment? Honestly no... just because others have and they say it's clean and they are lightning fast with the delivery. I prefer delivery in this area. Wanna know why? Because Old Country Road is sometimes a freaking NIGHTMARE! Anyway if you're jonesin' for some hot soup call Mama Soup and they'll be at your office in no time!

I was alone and despite being semi-crowded, there wasn't a wait. This place definitely gives a hole in the wall vibe and that's what I wanted. There are plenty of "brunch vibes" in Long Island and that's not what I was looking for today. Service was super prompt and the food came quick, less than 10 minutes. I ordered the Mexican omelette which was eggs, shredded chicken and oaxacan cheese. I expected the chicken and cheese to be cooked into the omelette - it was actually an egg omelette with the chicken and cheese folded inside. No complaints though; when I had enough eggs, I was able to eat just the chicken. It was well seasoned and not doused in cheese, which I appreciated. Note to self: no sour cream next time. It was unnecessary. The omelette came with a side of home fries. The home fries were the perfect mix of soft and crispy, with onions and peppers. They tasted great. It also came with toast and I added avocado, and made avocado toast... YUM. I had an iced coffee on the side. Nothing special about the coffee- not good or bad. They had almond milk and sugar-free vanilla... yay! Lastly, I took a sausage omelette with sweet potato chips to go for my son and he loved it. I would definitely come back. Thanks for a good experience!

Very centrally located in downtown MIneola by the entrance to the LIRR train station. Very close to NYU Langone Hospital. I have known about Chef's Corner for years and I am embarrassed to say that I have not sat down for a meal. Fairly easy parking with plenty of meters on the same street and just around the corner across from the train station. Plenty of light inside with all the windows and when it's warm outside, they open up to the two garage doors in front. We met our friends here who are regulars and I was really looking forward to this breakfast. We definitely sat and talked for a while sine we were celebrating my wfe's first day of retirement. Orders: - Three eggs over easy with well done bacon. - Farmers's Omelette: Scrambled eggs, sausage, peppers, onions with potatoes. - Two fried eggs over very hard (dead) - - Pancakes with al kinds of goodies on it. (see photo) We finished off with AMAZING homemade coffee cake. The same coffee cake that Mary Ellen (The owner) donates to our Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast. Everything was perfect... All cooked EXACTLY how it was asked for and everything was tasty-delicious. There is a reason why this place is the buzz of MIneola. GREAT food and a GREAT team. They have it all!!! After getting the cauliflower rice base the employee started dousing my warm bowl in salad dressing. I quickly spoke up, since I had wanted my dressing on the side, and she took the bowl and moved it under the counter to try to selectively scoop only the parts of the cauliflower with the dressing into the garbage. I could hear my bowl literally hit the side of the garbage container. It grossed me out when she then tried to use the same bowl and just scoop in a bit more cauliflower rice to replace what she'd scooped out. I politely asked for a new bowl, and the idle male employee standing next to her started making facial expressions indicating that he thought I was being unreasonable. She ended up giving me a new bowl -- but then putting almost no cauliflower rice in it to "punish" me for not wanting a bowl that had touched the side of a garbage can. Keep in mind that my warm bowl with the cauliflower rice upcharge came to over $17. I will never frequent that particular Chopt again.

Very good hand cut fries, just needed a little dash of salt. My coworker said the wagyu chop cheese was good. Just wished they seasoned the meat a little more. For my order I went with a trio of tacos - al pastor, coconut shrimp (both of these were listed as signature items) and the crispy fish. The Al Pastor was the best of them, but overall the tacos were on the sweet side probably due to the condiments and additions of onions and corn that were pickled. Glad they have hot sauces on the table to bring need heat. I got a side salad with this - I would say this is bit of afterthought lettuce with 3 pieces of cucumber and tomato each there wasn't much to it. I tried the Carne Asada bowl - again a bit on the sweet side, but they give a good amount of food. They use a cheese blend and I think one of them is a parmesan because it tasted a bit out of place. We ordered a piece of tres leches and it had a maple flavor that was unexpected. It took me a second, but I placed that it reminded me of a discontinued Entenmann's cake that I think was maple walnut iced cake. If you remember that and miss it then get this. I enjoyed this non-traditional version. Although not the best Mexican food I would come back here and perhaps try other items on the menu since it seems inventive, but I will keep my expectations in check because the execution doesn't always hit the mark.

Some of the tacos were done well, particularly the crispy fish taco and crunchy shrimp tacos. The steak was dry and the taco was just not moist enough to eat happily. We had a side of nachos which was great and also the street corn side as a dip was also delicious. The jalapeño poppers had a good crunch, however, it lacked any spice at all and tasted almost like a regular fried green pepper. Even though we ordered out, the ambiance seemed nice inside and also kid friendly. We may return in the future to try other menu items.
