So we've been to Canaan twice this year and we've learned the restaurant options are thin. So you have to take what you can get. Three of us ate here and the food is only OK. The rolls are bad. Do not get the chx marsala. The fettuccine Alfredo was only ok. I had the salmon with veggies. The salmon itself wasn't bad, it was only slightly overcooked. But the veggies it came with were absolutely swimming in this garlicy olive oil that ran all over my plate and got into everything. The pizzas I saw on other tables looked great. Same for the wings. We will go here again but we're staying away from the 20$ entrees. They're not worth it. Stick to the pizza and wings. read more

The food was absolutely disgusting. Nobody in my entire group of 5 finished their meal. The meat was definitely low quality as if it was frozen and heated up in a microwave and the pasta was watery. What made it worse was that this place was surprisingly expensive, probably because of its proximity to the ski resort. Definitely not worth the price. On the bright side, our waitress Maggie was very friendly and helpful. But don't go there if you don't want your stomach to hate you after. read more

I never take time to write reviews but this evening demands the time. We called in order and were told 45 min wait - I walk in 45 min later and the hostess (clearly on drugs) tells me to give her a few minutes, while she slowly drawing letters on welcome sign (she did this to several others and blatantly ignored customers trying to pay for their order). Guy behind me had been there for 1 hr 45 min waiting on his food. Food runner says she's going to check on my food, 30 min later I ask her for status update and she says I need to wait and it's going to be a while.... People I chatted up while waiting said the pizza was good but This place is a joke. Don't waste the time. Can't ask for better entertainment though. read more

We got there early before the rush, party of six. Got our salad and soups, waited 2 hours no entrees. Business was picking up, so we were being patient. Noticed the owner yelling at our waitress and she was pointing to our table. He made her cry. The owner's wife came out and told us that the kitchen threw away our ticket and that they were busy now. Like they could not make our food. So we asked for our meal to be made and to be comped, the owner told our waitress he would give us a 20% discount. We asked to speak to him, he would not come out and address our concerns. HOW RUDE!! The waitress came out and tried to apologize and we assured her we knew it was not your fault. I NEVER write bad reviews but I felt like I had to for this restaurant. It was my mothers birthday and we decided to eat at Mama Mias for her birthday dinner. The sign at the front of the store says "please seat yourself", so we did. We proceeded to wait for 30 minutes for a waiter to give us menus and water. Eventually when that was not provided my mother waved down a waitress who made eye contact with us and ignored us. She walked past us multiple times without saying anything. Then we waved her down again and she once again ignored us. Looked almost like the waitresses were arguing about who had to serve us. Eventually after another 20 minutes a waitress came to serve us and was very polite. We ordered fine but then the appetizers came. We had ordered 2 Caesar salads. At first when they came they looked really good, but upon further inspection they had a ton of crouton dust but also had a TON of water at the bottom of the plate!!!!! Next our main meal came, 1 cheese pizza, tortellini, and penne pasta. Where do I start.... The cheese pizza was fine, very cheesy. The main problem was the pasta. The tortellini was ordered with marinara sauce but came in a meat sauce, thank goodness I'm not vegetarian. THEN at the bottom of both pasta plates there was a ton of water (photos below). We also ordered 2 Shirley temples, one of which was never delivered to us, and another which had a TON of syrup in it. Then after we asked one waitress for the bill and she never got back to us, so we sat waiting for the bill for an extra 30 minutes till we asked another waitress. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I have to..... you walk into this restaurant and seat yourself. Well I placed an order and all three times I have my pasta has been hard, the sauce is watery and it has way to much pepper on it. The salad I got the lettuce was watered down, and it was also wilted. The service isn't the best. I stood waiting to get my order and three waitresses walked past me and didn't even acknowledge my existence. :( read more

This was the second time we visited Mama Mia. The first time the service wasn't great but the biggest issue was the unbelievable profane language of one of the patrons. An elderly man from the kitchen came out of the back multiple times and watched the foul mouthed fellow but no staff made any attempt to quieten him. We thought we'd give the place a second chance tonight. We sat for about 15 minutes tonight waiting to be acknowledged and nothing. almost all the empty tables were filthy and flies were everywhere. We're glad to have Mama Mia in the valley as pizza options go but order early online for pick up (at least during ski season) as wait times can stretch to an hour plus if you order after 4 or 5 when everyone is coming back from skiing. Mama Mia is conveniently located next to Ski Barn and easily reached from Timberline or Canaan Resort. We ordered the vegetarian, Mama's House Gourmet, and a custom pizza. Although the pizza sauce is a little sweet for my taste, all the pizzas were good with fresh ingredients. I am especially satisfied with the crust which tastes like all pizza crusts should taste. This has not been the case with other pizzas in the area where it seems like it's lacking in the basic seasoning of salt in their crust. I peeked around the restaurant and it's roomy with seating options up front and in the back where there's a view of the valley as well as a bar area. Having this much space is great when you want to be more distanced from other diners but also great for big groups. Online ordering is easy but finding their actual website was a little circuitous. If you search Mama Mia Canaan, their Facebook page will show up and you'll find a link to the website of their Canaan location. read more
