My family and I love this place! We used to go to the competition for our Italian dinner nights out! But now Mama Louise is definately our dining destination for good "Real Italian cooked pasta dinner!!" Kent the owner is always such a gracious host. My wife enjoys the ravioli dinner. Wow! What assholes. I came in with my service dog in training and got drilled at the door immediately. The hostess and the manager both accosted me demanding license, registration, etc for a service dog. I asked them what license is there for a SD. I told them there there is no such thing as licenses and registrations or any other ID or paperwork from the Department of Justice/ADA. He said they were really coming down on them about dogs in the restaurant. If it wasn't raining he would put us on the patio. I told him the ADA, nor any police department or health department, etc would fine him for letting a SD in your establishment. I was in a diabetic episode with a very low blood sugar and getting sick, my SD was alerting to me. I couldn't fight him so we left. What they did is ILLEGAL and so wrong on many levels. I hope that other SD handlers will inundate them with SD teams in his restaurant, then leave. I hope he gets fined big time by the ADA. I'm sick of people mistreating me because I am disabled. If you have any morals or empathy, Do NOT give these haters your business! read more

I REALLY, REALLY want to love this place. It's about a mile from my house. I pass by it daily. I tried it with my wife years ago and thought it was meh. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything memorable. My wife was less impressed. I've been thinking "this place has survived many years in questionable economic times. They must have improved." I used this very logic to convince my wife to return this evening. Well, it hasn't improved. Each entree starts with soup. It was meh. Tomato broth, shell pasta, celery, and spices. Next course was a salad with a forgettable Italian dressing. I had the Chicken Parmigiana for $15.25. It was a sizeable portion. I'll finish it tomorrow for lunch. This was the second best part of the meal. My wife had shrimp alfredo for $15.25. The shrimp was flavorless...not the "shrimp are the fruit of the sea" promise of Bubba. The pasta and Alfredo sauce were fine. My son had a small pepperoni pizza for $11.25 that was weird tasting. The best part of the meal was the $22 bottle of chianti. All in all, spent around $70 plus tip and left wishing we'd gone elsewhere. I've given this place a fair chance...two even. Sure wish it was better. read more

We also wanted to drink a glass of wine while conversing about the long and hectic week that we had just completed. We both agreed on dining at the Mama Louise Italian Restaurant just down the street from where we live. We had not been here for quite some time, however we had fond memories of our previous visits. What an absolutely delicious meal and pleasant conversation we experienced this evening at Mama Louise's restaurant. We were the recipients of some of the most friendly service that we have received in quite some time. Our meals came with home made soup and a crisp salad. I ordered my favorite from the Specialty menu... "Chicken Franchaise" and my wife had one of the Classics... "Ravioli & Homemade Spaghetti w/Meatballs. Both meals were prepared perfectly and I'm convinced that you will never be able to match or beat their Chicken Franchaise. The owner came over at the end of our meal and we had a delightful conversation with him, as he spoke of his passion for perfection with all of his signature recipes. Now, it was Friday night and things were hopping for the staff, but he spent a few minutes with us and it was nice to see an independent business person so involved. I used to eat here six years ago when I worked across the street. I love that this quaint little restaurant has been around in Aurora for so many years, but I feel like the changes have been higher prices and smaller portions. They also replaced their wine glasses to a much smaller type glass. The quality of their food is unrivaled, very authentic and fresh and always piping hot. We agreed that this might be one of the worst meals we have ever eaten. We came for dinner around 7:30 Saturday night and were promptly greeted and sat at a small 2 person table with some explanation from the hostess that we were not at a bigger table so we could have hot food. Weird explanation but we ignored it, sat and ordered from the waiter who turned out to be the owner. We received the calamari first and it was these odd, almost artificial, calamari sticks that we barely touched and complained about to the person who took them away. The complaint was not addressed nor acknowledged. Next we received our salads and the ranch dressing on my boyfriend's salad was a sweet creamy dressing that shouldn't be called ranch. I was still eating my salad when our dinner came. Without asking my consent, the server moved my salad away. My calzone was a little soggy and bland. My bf said his spinach manicotti was disgusting because the sauce tasted like it was from a can. After the check was dropped off, the server pulled out our paper place mats and napkins rather than waiting to clear them after we left. The server didn't ask how the meal was or acknowledge the uneaten food. Overall a really poor dining and service experience and these were just the highlights. The owner/server touched our shoulders several times during the meal which was unwanted. We wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. How this place has so many 5 star reviews is extremely surprising, considering our experience was terrible. Should have gone to the tried and true LuBo's across the street. read more

Tried this little Italian spot tonight and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the half and half pasta classic plate and it did not disappoint. Everything from the sauce to the ricotta in the ravioli was decadent. Lived in the neighborhood a long time and thought we would give their pizza a try. Quality ingredients you can taste. Lovely patio with music. More than pleased with our food,the ambiance & price. If you want to try something different than Lubo's or Anthony's for neighborhood pizza-this is a fantastic alternative. I disagree with a previous Yelper who thought his restaurant wasn't family friendly. Our kids were plenty entertained by the gentleman playing the accordion. It's not Chili's but its not Del Friscos either-families should be more than comfortable eating here. Would love to try their calzone next time! read more

We had a wonderful dinner last night at Mama Louise! The owner Kent was so welcoming and treated us like royalty! The atmosphere was absolutely Italian style even down to the music. My only criticism, and it's really minor, is that the garlic knot rolls were not baked as well as I would have liked. But this certainly will not keep us from going again soon. read more

Consistently good food. Dinners come with soup AND salad and delicious hot garlic knots. The soup is a little thin but has a lot of pasta, celery and beans and a good flavor. I love the homemade (thick) spaghetti noodles - but always have to get extra sauce. If you're craving Italian, this is a good place to go! read more

I was SO excited to try a new local Italian restaurant, but unfortunately it's not really cutting it for me. My friends and I arrived on a Monday night for dinner before going to see Day of the Doctor (AWESOME!). I walked in and was glad to find a warm, friendly atmosphere, just looking at the checkered red and white table cloth made me hungry. There were two other tables so it's not a very busy night. We sat down and started looking at the menu. The prices were ok, not great, just ok... but I figured if it's great food, it's worth it. Unfortunately, that's all it is, it's just ok. The food was... edible. My friend had the pesto sauce and my bf had their ravioli. I tried both and they were both unimpressive. The meal was so unimpressive that I don't even remember what I had. The service was worse than unimpressive. The waiter we had looks like he didn't want to be working that night. When I asked what is in the soup, he just named off the ingredients as if he's so tired of explaining it for the last 30 years. It's to bad the service didn't match with the warm and friendly charming decor of the restaurant. It's too bad, there aren't many non-chain restaurants over there, but I don't think we'll be back. read more

Friendly staff with a great mom and pop atmosphere. I wouldn't have known about this place had my friend not do his traditional drive-by foursquare check-in. Each entree comes with soup and salad. The soup was good, but the salad was a little weak: they didn't dry off the lettuce enough so it watered down my dressing. Otherwise good sized portions for the price and good flavor. Me and my wife were the youngest people there by at least twenty years. We got there at 7pm on a weeknight. Oh the south-bound traffic on Parker Rd to get there was terrible. Went there again over Christmas with my family. Everything is basically the same except the price has risen quite a lot and it's not the great value that it once was. The pasta is a step above Fazoli's- definitely not worth the $15-$18 price point. The minestrone tasted like canned tomatoes and had mushy pasta (the kids said it tasted like spaghetti-o's!) and the salad was drowned with a sugary Italian dressing. However, the cheese calzone was really fantastic... Maybe I'll try a pizza if I go back. There were plenty of people to take dishes away and fill your water, and the service was good. The cheesecake was really the only thing to truly rave about, but it wasn't enough to make up for the bland lobster ravioli and the very boring linguini with clam sauce (there wasn't even enough liquid to dip my bread in). So, I wouldn't recommend it to a friend, but I might go back to try the pizza... read more

If you want good food go to Mama Louise. If you want good service to go with that food, I would not suggest Mama Louise as a place to visit. Two of us arrived around 6:00 and ordered dinner and a bottle of wine to enjoy -- to leisurely enjoy the food, the wine and the company. We aren't ones who tend to linger if we see people waiting, so since it didn't appear to be busting with people waiting or quite frankly the lobby was empty, we ate our dinner and were finishing our wine having a great conversation, when at 7:30 our waiter, Amir, suddenly very rudely informed us we had to pay and leave immediately because two people were waiting to eat and they were closing at 8:00, and they wanted to eat. I understand the need to open tables for someone waiting. However, there were at least three other tables who were there when we arrived and were still there when we were told we, and only we, had to pay immediately and leave. We complied but when we walked out soon afterwards, not one party was in the lobby area waiting to be seated...NOT ONE PERSON. Plus, there was one two-person table open. So you do the math...supposedly two people waiting, one, two-person table that was open and no one waiting but we HAD to leave?!? Why are we being rushed out when no one else was waiting and no one else was told to leave?!? I have no clue. Anyway, prior to that moment I would have gone back and possibly become a regular...NOT NOW. Don't make the same mistake. Go anywhere else...anywhere. read more

The food was very good. However, we ordered a bottle of wine with our dinner. We were finishing the wine when Amir ( our waiter) came up and said he needed to check us out. I said we were finishing our wine (we each had approximately 1/2 glass left). He stated they closed at 8:00 (it was 7:30) and people wanted to eat. There were two people waiting to be seated. The four ladies at the table to my right, the five people to my left and the eight people behind me had all been seated before us. As far as I could see, none of them were being asked to pay and leave. I asked to speak to a manager. Amir informed me he was the manager. I asked to speak to the owner, Kent, who had been by earlier. I was told he was gone. Amir assured me Kent would back him up, because he had worked there for more than 25 years. My thought is, if you are going to sell a bottle of wine, allow people time to drink it. Otherwise, don't sell it. Amir was extremely rude. Prior to this encounter, I was impressed with the restaurant. Now, I cannot recommend it to anyone, based on his absolute rudeness. Go at your own risk and be prepared not to be allowed to enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. I don't usually complain about service, but this was inexcusable. read more

We thought this would be an opportunity to catch up with some other friends and see how Mama's food was the second time around. All of us just ordered main dishes and no appetizers or desserts. Starters is their Salad Dressing with homemade Italian dressing. Dressing slightly sweet flavor on an iceberg salad mix. Very good, light and not overpowering. The minestrone soup also part of the standard dinner offering came out hot and flavorful. Had a bit more spicy black peppery taste than I usually associate with minestrone, nonetheless very good. Did hear a few people at other tables cough/choke on their soup, caught them off guard, I would say. Still again -good flavor- Try it, just be prepared. What was ordered. Me: Chicken Parmesan w/ Mama Louise meat sauce. Very good, I would order this instead of the standard sauce. My Wife: Lasagna, Anita: Chicken Franchaise, Dan: Rigatoni? What was very tasty and unexpected surprise is the Sauce for the Chicken Franchaise, You tasted the subtle lemon & buttery flavor together and separately at the same time combined with the crisp texture of the chicken. Very delicious. I will order it the next time. Both chicken breast for the two dishes well prepared, moist, succulent and cooked just right without that rubbery or overcooked texture you sometimes get at other restaurant. As in other reviews I read, the staff does "swarm" around you a bit, and you can feel like they are trying to rush you out, but the feeling is not that intrusive. Since I came from NYC decades ago, it didn't bother me that much. Overall, the pasta in our meal was al dente (expected from an Italian restaurant). My Friends lived in Italy for several years and said the food was very authentic, some of it slightly altered to American taste, but they would definitely come back. read more

My family and I were visiting and looking for a good Italian place. The hotel we were staying at recommended a few chains, but we wanted something local. We found Mama Louise and tried it out -- everyone was tired and irritable but this place boosted our spirits! The food was all fantastic. We knew things were going to be good when the house soup they brought out was DELICIOUS. Everyone loved their pasta! My girlfriend has very high standards for Italian food because she used to work at a great family-owned place when she as younger. This is the first Italian place we have been to together in 4 years that she thought had truly great food! Once we had all eaten, the owner or manager came out to chat with us -- it added a great personal touch as he was an extremely nice and friendly man. This is by far my favorite Italian place besides maggianos. It is a semi small area but has a lot of seating an is normally pretty busy so I would recommend calling ahead. The owner is there everyday and makes sure to go to every single table and guarantee that every need is met. Having the owner check in makes it seem very personable. The food is absolutely amazing and they give great large portions so that every dollar is worth it. They will also change up the order for free if you have any accommodations. I've been twice and both times have gotten the chicken franchaise which comes with spaghetti but I switched out for fettuccine Alfredo. For no charge at all! As for desserts, the tiramisu is homemade and probably the best I've ever had. They also have an option for ice cream with red wine sauce and it is the best thing I have ever tasted. The owner and his wife home make the red wine sauce and completely cover the ice cream so that no bite is just plain vanilla ice cream. It is the perfect sweetness and if you go here it is a must to try. My husband hates wine and he loved the sauce because it is that good! read more

They all looked out for each other and I felt like I had 4 servers because I had so much staff helping one another. The prices were also very reasonable especially for Italian food. Over all very disappointed in our experience at Mama Louise's. Food was good & the young ladies helping the older gal serving were good. Started off ordering a bottle of wine, the server brought back a different bottle of Pinot noir than we asked for, I said something & she says they changed labels & poured two glasses, saying they don't do tasting. I thought that was bizarre considering the decent wine list, that's not customary & who's to say we'd even like it. Didn't want to make it a big deal on date night so just went along & ordered out meals. Again the food was pretty good, no complaints there. Finished up everything & asked for the check. Server brought it. We paid with cash, a young lady helping the server asked if we wanted a bag for our food & took our payment. Leaving a gentleman who looked to be a manager or owner came to our table when we stood up, not asking how things were or thanking us for coming in. But follows us through the restaurant to the front door & as we walk out asks if we paid, saying he didn't see our bill on the table. My wife said yes the young lady helping serve took our bill, & he didn't really even reply. Needless to say we were embarrassed & felt very disrespected I would never recommend Mama Louis's to friends & family & will never return due to disrespect, unprofessionalism & unknowledgeable miscommunicated staff. read more
