Food and ambiance at this restaurant are good. Service was basic but nothing special. They did not offer water or inform me that water was self service and located in the back of the restaurant. Once the food is dropped off at your table no one checks back to see if you need anything else. For these prices it would be nice if they checked back at your table to see if everything is ok or if you need anything else. They request that you scan QR for online menu which I don't mind and seems to be the norm at a lot of restaurants now. But if you are going to do an online menu you have to make sure your menu is up to date. I tried ordering a chicken wrap which according to the menu looked to be a chicken caesar wrap. I even asked the employee if it was a chicken caesar wrap and she said yes. On the menu it is priced at $8.50. When she rang me up it came closer to $17.00 (big difference in price). I was quite surprised on the price considering most of their sandwiches range from $13 to $16 and come with a lot more meat and veggies than a chicken caesar wrap does. Don't really understand why the wrap is more expensive. Someone needs to review the food cost on that one. That being said the wrap tasted great and came with a unique side sauce that had a little kick. Good pairing with the wrap. There were a few other items on the online menu that did not have pricing. I think if they clean up the menu and spend a little more time focusing on service and guest interaction this place will be 5 stars for sure. It's the little things that count. read more

My husband and I decided to sneak out on Sunday morning without kids for some morning nosh. I've been dying to try Mamón for a while now and was happy to see they weren't too busy. We sat at the bar and scanned the QR code to view the menu. We both ordered The Basic. He got chorizo and I got bacon. My husbands food was perfect and he enjoyed it. I'm not as basic. I asked for me eggs to be over extra extra hard. Eggs can be fried over easy, over medium, over well, or over hard. Over well eggs are just cooked to well done while over hard eggs have the yolks broken and cooked well done. My eggs came over medium well but looked hard because they were burnt on the outside. The yolk was soft and whites were slimy. I had to pick it apart to find parts I could eat. The server was very sweet but not very attentive. It didn't start getting busy until a bit after we got our food. It was a while before I could get her attention to ask for salsa verde. She didn't come back to check on how we were. I had to ask for the bill and the other server inquired about my uneaten eggs as she was running my husband's card. It is a cute place but we will not be returning for breakfast. We have been to this restaurant a handful of times and have loved everything we have tried so far. The owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious. You must try the banana pudding, it's different than I am used to but worth the sugar and calorie intake. My husband had the tri-tip plate with salad and cauliflower. I hate to leave a subpar review for Mamon because we visit relatively frequently and I have previously awarded them 4-stars. Besides being slightly overpriced, the restaurant has great menu and craft beer options. We stopped by yesterday (Sunday) and thanks to Yelp we had a 15% off coupon. The individual at the register asked me to tap "Mark Deal as Used" which I did but for some reason it immediately returned to the previous screen. He did not seem convinced that I tapped the button but from my understanding, once a deal is used it cannot be viewed again. Without telling me, he only issued a 10% discount. I don't care about the $ amount but if you're running a business, it's all about the principle and you should do the honest and right thing which he did not (especially when my friends got the 15% off using the same deal right before me). On top of that, my wife left a very generous tip. I would leave a 1-star based on this experience but since the food/beer was delicious, I upped it to 2. I will say after this negative experience, I'm not sure I would ever dine/drink here again. read more

It is so delicious! The combination of tender juicy roasted tri-tip, sweet roasted tomatoes, onions, and cilantro, tossed with their secret seasoning, makes this sandwich so gaaaawd daaamn tasty! Not only that, the over easy egg atop the meat totally elevates the lusciousness of this sammich! The Francese bread holds up pretty well too. It doesn't fall apart like a normal softer bread would do. Hubby gets their Chancho En Cama. I took a bite of it one time, and it was also oozing with scrumptiousness. It is made with roasted pork shoulder, charred sweet potato, lime-marinated red onion, cilantro, and yellow pepper aioli. It is so flavorful! I really appreciate that their prices are reasonable. It was my first time I've gone there and in my experience the service could have been better but overall the staff was friendly. When I walked in I was greeted by staff and asked what I wanted to drink. She did not give me a menu nor told me I needed to scan a code to view a menu - which I do not like to do. I was served my coffee but was not offered creamer or sweetener. I had to ask after which I was given creamer right away in a fresh container. I know it seems petty but first impressions are exactly that. I ordered food and it came quickly. The food was very good. I had to kill some time so I stayed for quite a while and I met Avangelo (I think he is the owner). He was very personable and seemed like he enjoyed his job and greeting people. Not sure what the inspiration was for naming the restaurant after this slang word, but I will allow it :) for those of you that don't know...In Mexico, Mamón could mean "annoying" or "stupid." Anyways... I ordered the salmon sandwich "Upstream" and the employee recommended to add avocado and so glad I did! It was great with it. I would have also added tomatoes to the sandwich. However, the salmon salad itself was really tasty. The bread was sourdough bread and it was toasted to perfection. I also got the side salad to get more greens in today and it made it a complete meal. We also got "just the tip" which is a portobello sandwich and my teen boy loved it. We thought that it meant tri tip, but even though the employee clarified to my meat loving son that it was a mushroom sandwich, he went for it and he said it was delicious. It came in a tiny box so I got nervous it would be a tiny sandwich but it was just right :) We have notaries the cookies yet... will update you all soon on that. Came here for lunch with my dad this past sunday. Some father daughter time! The owner is so sweet! The owner told us Mamón means " mamas boy" in slang, his mom owns inka next door! So interesting! We asked him for his recommendations on what to order and got exactly what he said! My dad got the steak sandwich he recommended ( I don't love steak, however, this steak was delicious!) and I got their " basic bitch" as I wanted breakfast items. They sell breakfast and lunch all day. How amazing is that? I got their cava ( off the menu) to drink and their rose. Normally not a rose person but their rose was nice, dry and crispy-perfect for a hot day out! The owner totally made our experience. Him and my dad were chatting for a while while my dad and I were having lunch. My dad had taken a trip to Peru and was even showing him pictures from his trip as the owner has been there as well. Mamon means, "mamas boy" and is conveniently located next to Inka Mama's in Foothill Ranch. I used to frequent Inka Mama's quite often, and met Evangelo (the son of the owners) several times. Apparently he is the one behind Mamon. They specialize in healthy meat, vegetarian and vegan food. They also offer gluten and dairy free options. What really drew me into this place is that I happened to be in this shopping center and saw a bunch of people walking in around lunch time. I knew it must be a hot spot. My hubby was traveling for work tonight, so I decided to order some dinner from here to go. They're open until 7pm on the weekdays (4pm on the weekends). I ordered the Roasted Meat Plate - Pork (6 oz.) for $15, which comes with a mixed green salad and any one side. I selected the roasted sweet potatoes. The food was packaged in sturdy brown boxes with the Mamon logo prominently displayed on the boxes. I transferred the food to plates when I got home for a better photo presentation. For the meat plate, you can choose 4 oz ($13), 6 oz ($15) or 8 oz ($17). I chose the 6 oz, and when I laid it out on the plate, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I got! I probably could've ordered 4 oz. and been fine. The pork was soft, juicy and succulent. I wished I had gotten the pork in a sandwich, as it's a lot of flavor to eat on its own. The roasted sweet potatoes tasted like sweet yams that I typically eat at Thanksgiving. So delicious! The fresh salad came with a nice, bright dressing and it had a sprinkle of parmesan on top. Overall, I'd give the food 4 stars for flavor. They are located in a shopping plaza near Planet Fitness, Hobby Lobby, etc. in Foothill Ranch. Plenty of parking is available. The interior is clean and modern. They have seating inside and outside. The service is friendly and professional. My food was ready in 10 min. They are a bit pricier than your average fast casual place, but they offer wholesome cooking using natural ingredients that result in delicious flavors, so it's worth the price. read more

Needed a quick pick-me-up on a Friday and this place did not disappoint! It was a quick order and I did not have to wait at all. I ordered the seasonal wrap with add-on chicken and it was super delicious! It is filled with greens, avocado, honey vinaigrette, seasonal fruits and croutons. I'm in love with how light and sweet this wrap is and how perfect it is for a midday in Spring. Although the chicken was a bit dry, the juicy fruits and veggies made up for it. I find it so interesting that they incorporated blueberries in my wrap and I honestly loved it! I also have to mention that I let the wrap sit for at least 30 mins prior eating it and the croutons were still very crispy...I'm still thinking about it till this day! The only regret I have is that I didn't take a picture for this review, but please know that Mamón was overall a very nice place if you want a light and quick lunch! read more

The avocado toast had a lot of avocados on it! It was chunky and layered on thick with a nice balance of flavors coming from the cherry tomatoes, balsamic glaze, and sourdough. There is chili pepper in the mayo, but it wasn't noticeable, which is a bummer because I think a little kick would have taken this toast to another level. The Avocado toast comes with a basic side salad that is lightly dressed and refreshing- goes well with all of the other flavors. The only suggestion that I have which would make it better for me was if the toast was thicker. It would give it a much more satisfying bite because the current toast is thin and doesn't provide enough crunch and chew to the overall toast. For $12, I think it's reasonably priced because the avocados were chunky and noticeable and the added tomatoes just makes the entire presentation of the toast seem more bang for your buck. If you're craving avocado toast, I'd definitely recommend coming to mamon because they make a pretty darn good one! read more

"Peruvian Excellence in Orange County." On a pleasant Sunday afternoon, right after church, this is a great place to go for a healthy meal, and especially for a craft beer. I've tried, without success, to talk Saddleback Church into opening a brewery, but until then this is a close spot to visit. I ordered the Upstream sandwich for $15. It's roasted salmon salad on toasted sourdough toast and it is absolutely heavenly. I paired it with a kolsch light beer. Folks, you can't get any better than this. My wife ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with three different types of cheese, for $11. She also ranted and raved about this sandwich. She loved the pickled beets. It's true, this restaurant is not especially cheap, but if you want quality, you don't get cheap. If you prefer fast food, there's several options in the shopping plaza. I prefer quality. I had a chance to chat with the Peruvian owners of this little restaurant, who are incredibly gracious and friendly people. The name of the restaurant actually means mama's boy. No kidding, I'm not making that up. Here's a secret: Their mama owns the restaurant next door. It's the one called "Inka Mama's." Here's something sort of funny in the men's room--the walls are a chalkboard. There are little pieces of chalk and you can make any statement whatsoever. I added my suggestion for a potential VP candidate. Finally, and best of all, there is a free craft beer for yelpers who check in. There's nothing like free beer. read more
