Great location, especially if you're visiting the Prague castle in the morning and want to grab lunch before you explore the rest of the area west of the river. Our GPS led us up a steep hill until we finally got here, but apparently there's a much shorter way from the castle... Go figure... Once you come in, be forewarned that the entire environment is extremely dark. It's almost how a house at night feels when there is no power and the only source you have is candlelight. If you're jet lagged, order the coffee ASAP!!!! Otherwise, you'll be likely to fall asleep (as what happened to the two who didn't get coffee in our group). The Vietnamese Iced Coffee is absolutely perfect for the summer. The food wasn't anything super memorable, but still pretty good. I think we had the chicken with golden mushrooms and a vegetarian spring roll. However, the experience of dining here is extremely relaxing. It's almost like a full body meditation but better - you get coffee and food! One of the best Pho broths I've ever had. This is a hidden gem in Prague. Located outside of Prague Old City, my friends and I decided to eat an oriental meal prior to leaving. We were all craving for Asian Vietnamese food and for a bowl of Pho - and we found the best! The Pho comes in one size - and it was perfect! I had the beef pho and my friends had the chicken. We all agreed that the broth was one of the best we've ever had (and we live in Canada so we've eaten lots of Pho) I was super hungry so I also had the Thai chicken fried rice - delicious! It had a sweet and sour taste within it, so it made it very flavourful. Lastly, the ambience in the restaurant is amazing. It's a bit dark; but the mood and the gallery space incorporated within the restaurant allows you to relax and dine some of the best Vietnamese dishes Prague has to offer. Food is mediocre and the service is deplorable. Their timings on Google show that they are open till 10:30pm. We reached the restaurant at 9:00pm and were promptly reminded by the manager that we had one hour in the restaurant even before he said hello. Their menu does not list the ingredients of their cocktails. When we asked what alcohol the lychee and the Malá Buddha cocktail had, we were told liquor! Finally when we ordered the spicy China Town chicken, we were served a bland chicken with bamboo shoot. On whole, not worth time and effort. Way above average Thai restaurant. Not really price so much (you'll spend 160kc+ on a meal...not too bad) but the ambiance is really unique as they aim to engulf you in the feel of a dimly lit underground cellar of a Thai temple. The food is excellent (Pad Thai, which is a typical dish to judge a Thai restaurant on, is just perfect), they have some cool fruit drinks, the service is nice, and it's a bit unassuming as you walk the street it's on. LOVE this place! I studied for the summer in Prague and my dorm was down the road from Malý Buddha, my friends and i came here often. They have a ton of drink options, we came often for teas and the Vietnamese iced coffee! The prices are fair for the portions you get (pretty large) and I've liked everything I've gotten there (try the Pho!). The owner became pretty fond of us and even opened our bottles of wine from the store when we stopped in because we didn't have an opener. It is quite dark in there which may not be for everyone but I enjoyed the vibe. I've been here twice, but I'll base this off the second time I went as the first time they messed up my order and could not write a fair review. I finally got what I wanted--the vegetarian menu with rice, a veggie roll, grilled veggies, tofu, and a salad. I loved every bite and really enjoyed the variety. The vegetable roll was a shining star on the plate and was better than I expected. I'm a huge fan of tofu, but these seemed a little bland. The sauce on the grilled veggies was delicious in the otherwise plain white rice. I love the ambiance in here, as it's super dark with just a candle or two at the table. There's a lot of immersive decor, and an interesting back room that I didn't make it to. It's hard for me to comment on service because there is a bit of a language barrier. The dish seemed a little pricey because it costs the same as the seafood plate and there's no meat. I also ordered the white mueller (?) wine, which is the cheapest and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I've already come here twice and it was well worth the second shot. read more

Astonishing. When you step into this restaurant, you feel like you have either walked into a Himalayan shrine, Japanese temple or a Chinese palace. All under one roof with a stunning round ceiling and a large 'antique' looking Buddha painting already gives the true feeling of Asia for the experience. It was a while back when I went here, but the service was good. I was rather impressed by the variety of dishes and reasonable prices. The overall atmosphere spoke the entire scene. As melancholy and bohemian as daydreamers assume Prague to be, this place certainly meets this expectation. The traditional, though experimental Asian fusion dishes with lots of vegetables and meat with steamed rice is always a perfect option for a casual night out. Be tempted to look around and try some of their exotic fruit juices as well. Next time in Prague and looking for a good Asian restaurant, stop by this place for a casual dining night out. read more

Much vaunted and lorded in the guidebooks we were impressed with it when we made our lunchtime checkout and booked our evening table. We arrived and after a short period of being ignored we were shown to a squatting table right at the very back of the restaurant where we could not even see. So we were reseated. I have quite a discerning palate so chose a crab soup followed by some chicken. There was no crab in my crab soup. What there was was ribbons of crabstick in tepid dishwater. I should have walked then. The main course looked like prechewed meat in oxo. It tasted even worse. Absolute rubbish. read more

Maly Buddha is a wonderful little Asian restaurant with a relaxing and cosy interior which allows you to escape from the crowds of Prague castle around the corner. There are a wonderful selection of teas and the food although toned down somewhat for the tastebuds of the locals, still dishes up lovely pan-asian fare. Wonderfully warming vietnamese noodle soup dishes and the crispy springrolls makes for a reasonably cheap meal any time of day. The Czech president has also eaten here I've been told. The friendly owner Chris has painted much of the artwork in the restaurant and also has his own gallery. If you visit check out the painting of adam and eve on the toilet doors. read more
