Dinner on Friday nights, at least this one, Dec 9,2023, is packed. So walk a few steps past the main square of lesser town and you may be lucky enough to stumble on this place. Plenty of authentic beer. Family operated. Not sure who owns it. The food was good. The prices are reasonable and you can soak in some long time history.

One of the many tourist restaurants we stopped at in Prague. It was a pretty decent spot. It had a lot of the dishes that Prague is supposedly known for like beef tar tar and roast duck, which I obviously ordered. Some parts of the roast duck were a bit dry for me but it was still pretty delicious. It had a nice outer crunch and tasty duck meat on the inside. The beef tar tar was probably my favorite. It was very well seasoned. Some of the people at my table refused to try it but it was definitely their loss because I finished that right up. I thought service was a bit slow but they were fairly busy and I have heard meals are supposed to be enjoyed longer there.

Nice little place right in the heats of old town Prague. We had outdoor seating in freezing cold weather, but the heat lamps were on and the blankets warm. We went with a pot of the beef broth soup and an order of Beef Goulash with potato pancakes. Both were delicious.

We ate here during a very cold day and ate out on the Patio! The patio had heat lamps and blankets which made it bearable in the cold. Our waiter was nice no complaints there. I ordered the goulash and it had good flavors but the meat was pretty chewy and fatty and definitely not what I wanted. I ordered the goulash over the goulash stew so it would be heartier and more filled with meat and to get chewy meat was pretty disappointing. The prices were pretty average for most of the places we ate at in Prague, slightly more expensive considering the amount and quality of the food. My goulash also came with bread. I wish there were vegetables or potatoes or something else aside from just a few pieces of meat.

We stumbled into the enticing patio of this restaurant when looking for a quiet casual dinner spot in Prague. Big comfy all weather wicker chairs were welcoming. We were early enough there were no crowds & luckily no smokers. The lady at the next table got the biggest, juciest hamburger we've ever seen! We ordered red Czech wine - delicious! Goulash soup in a bread bowl was dramatic & out of this world. Rocket & spinach salad was fresh with oil & vinegar - great. But then... be careful what you wish for! We ordered the mixed grill special for one despite the waiter's raised eyebrow that we didn't want the double portion. Holy cow! What a feast! Roast duck, pork, sausages, ribs, potato pancakes, red cabbage, 3 kinds of dumplings, onion rings, pickles, spicy mustard & freshly ground horseradish. We plowed through every morsel with glee. Definitely one to writie home about!

Stopped into this restaurant during our vacation last year and had a wonderful time. Enough to throw it back with this review. It's in a super touristy area (as much of Prague seems to be) so we didn't have high hopes but were pleasantly surprised. They had good options on the menu and everything we ordered was tasty and flavorful. And the service was nice as well as that old Soviet ambiance, say hi to the armored guard on the way downstairs to wash your hands. Prost!

Great place with an outdoor terrace looking out to the Prague Castle. Food is great and prices even better for being at a turist catch propense area. Huge beer selection and local authentic CHZ food. Do NOT miss this place if you are in the area sn make sure to order the Salmon tartar and the goulach for starters.

Good food and good service considering it's in the middle of the tourist area. Sitting outside overlooking the Castle is the way to go.

The pub is situated a few minutes' walk from the castle and cathedral at the top of the hill in Hradčany, just opposite the Loreto church. It's easy to find as the exterior has impressive baroque murals. Inside, it's rather plainer, with painted walls, simple, dark wooden benches and a tiled floor. Although it's location inevitably means that it's full of tourists, it makes few concessions to them: this is essentially a beer bar, and the main draw is its excellent Velkopopvicky Kozel beer, in light (tmavé) and dark (světly) variants, as well as Pilsner Urquell, all served in 0.5l glasses. They serve a limited range of hearty Czech snacks, including some vegetarian items (various forms of cheese). The staff are efficient and workmanlike rather than especially friendly; expect a hard stare if you just have one beer! Locals tend to sit at the front, with visitors at the back. However, the old-fashioned feel means that it is one place you really ought to try is you're in the area, and it makes a great antidote to the touristy crush of the castle. If it's open, stroll afterwards to the Loreto church, one of Prague's most over-the-top Baroque creations and containing the body of St Wilgefortis - a few beers to fortify you first may not be a bad idea, in fact! It's quite a hike up the hill to the Hradčany area, but trams 22 and 23 will take you (via a scenic, circuitous route) to within a few hundred metres, making the climb for you!
