Set with Tomato Flavored Broth

Food 4/5 DIY concept. You picked your ingredients and choice of soup base. They will cook it and bring it out. Awesome hotpot choice Service 3/5 fast and efficient Ambiance 4/5 a lot of tables. Came in Friday night, got seated right away

After hearing great things and seeing such rave reviews, I was excited to try Mala Town. Unfortunately I found it to be rather disappointing. Let's start with the pros. There's a decent selection of ingredients, everything was well laid out and clean. It's a fun DIY hotpot concept, upon entering just grab a bowl and tongs and fill it up with your desired ingredients. At the checkout counter, weigh the ingredients and choose your broth. It's a nice alternative to AYCE hot pot, especially for those who don't eat that much. Service is minimal as it's primarily DIY, but they were friendly enough and efficient. They cook the food and bring it out to your table. The ingredients were good and I enjoyed the complimentary jasmine tea. The biggest con for me was the broth itself. The broth is really the focal point of hot pot and it can make or break the meal. I got the mild beef bone broth and found it to be very heavy and overly salty. It was creamy which I didn't expect or particularly enjoy. It was also very orange-looking for beef broth. I thought maybe they gave me tom yum by mistake but it didn't taste like tom yum. In addition, it was pretty spicy for a mild broth. I don't think it tasted terrible, it just wasn't to my liking. Too heavy and salty. My partner got the medium dry pot mix and it was also not what either of us expected. All of the ingredients were cooked and then a sesame and peanut sauce mix was just poured over the top, not mixed in at all and did not have the flavor of a dry pot. We expected it to taste a bit more like a stir fry. The sauce poured over the top was very thick and super salty, making it a goopy mess. It was very spicy but lacked flavor, not good at all. After we left I looked at pictures from other reviewers and the dry pot we got looks very different from what others have gotten at this same place. I don't know why it was so different? Overall I liked the concept and fresh ingredients. I'd like to try malatang again but probably somewhere else.

SOO GOOD!! I loaded my bowl up, they had great options compared to other malatang places, and they even had scallops! The beef slices were tender, the broths were delicious, and the sauce bar was perfect with all the best sauces. The worker was very friendly, and they checked up on us. Also, the complimentary tea was sooo good. It was just the right enough amount of sugar. The restaurant is clean, organized, and they buss the tables quickly after guests leave.

What I liked most about this place is that they cater to vegetarians. I came here on Sunday with my friends and we all enjoyed our hotpots. The service was friendly and they were eager to please. The complementary tea was a bit sweet but it was nice to have a cool drink on such a very hot day. The hotpot was healthy and delicious, I was able to find exactly what I wanted and the environment was so friendly that it makes me want to return.

Parking: located in a strip mall with parking lot in front of restaurant Service: cafeteria style to fill bowl with choice of meats, veg, and starches. You then pay at the cashier and choose your sauce or soup flavor. Staff was friendly and cleaned our table before assigning us. Ambiance: casual Food: Got the savory dry mix, but tried a bit of my parties soups and everything was solid. A great comfort meal post EDC

I loveeee Mala Town!!! Their 50% off promo was very dangerous for me... HAHA As you line up to select what you'd like to be in your bowl, you'll choose what soup base you'd like at the counter as it gets weighed, and once you are seated, there is a bar for you to create your own sauce next to complimentary water and tea. I like the set up of the restaurant! Not only is the food delicious (I personally love the Mild Signature Beef Bone Broth but also have been getting the Sweet & Sour Tomato), the service is always great, and during the super busy times, seating can become limited, but I would say that seating is usually available. Parking may become sparse because of the lot it is in alongside other hotspots in the plaza.

Come to Mala Town now for discount! Mala town has been my go to spot for amazing hot pot that is fully customizable. I love getting the tomato soup base because it is so sweet and tangy that pairs well with a lot of the vegetable toppings. Service is quick, as you pick and grab your toppings then take it to the counter. They have a sauce bar where you can get your spice fixing from chili oil, garlic, chili flakes, etc. Limited time they are offering 50% off every Tuesday and Wednesday!

All over tik tok I see ppl go to build your own hot pot. Cant lie I got severe fomo so I NEEDED to try at least once in my life and I pleasantly had driven to this place. Me and some friends were a lil bit confused on what to do at first as there is nowhere in AZ where we can build our own hot pot but Paul was so kind and showed us how the hot pot process works . We were given a bowl and began loading up. We were told most ppl get 1.5 lbs typically. The bowls are priced via weight with that being $15.99/lb. Yeah I love this. I was so excited I was grab happy and ended up with 2.8lbs regardless I was happy. Everyone I was with all got different broths one being the Szechuan and another being Bone broth. Both were so delicious. We were assigned a table the cooked our hot pot in the back and was brought to our table. My brother unfortunately had been grab crazy and got 5lbs but even after we finished all our food he was happy he could take it home and keep eating. (Mind you we still had to drive to AZ by the time we got back ME AND MY FRIEND DEVOUREDDDDD EVERY SINGLE BUT THAT WAS LEFT). I think me saying I love this place is an understatement I LIVE LAUGH LOVE ESPECIALLY ADORE MALA TOWN The staff members were all so kind and funny. Paul for sure made our experience the best. We told him we come to Vegas often and now this will be our go to. So thank you Mala town for the amazing food and hospitality. a huge thank you from my belly cuz now I craveeeeee mala town. YYAYAYAYAYAYA I LOVE MALA TOWN

This was such a chill and easy place to get Malatang! They had a variety of options for you to include in your Malatang which I liked. The service was quite friendly too, giving us complimentary drinks. The Malatang itself was filling and tasty, especially with their various options. I enjoyed the meat and cheese balls I had in mine. I'd recommend for any Malatang cravings.

Very clean and so much fun to select from buffet style ingredients station. Also I loved the selection of different types of broth. Customer service was very helpful and polite. They explain how to make it taste as you like. You don't need to be shy, just ask them, and they will help you . Old building but they keep very clean and spacious. Only problem is very hard to get the parking lot. Space is limited. So be prepared for that.

Craving soup and found this gem that offers so many options and best of all you choose your ingredients that you want in your soup. The flavors of all different soup base are very delicious. I got the Tom Yum and had all the flavor you need to pair with any protein and vegetables. Everything in the soup building station looks clean and fresh. When we got to the cashier, she helped us with any questions and also helped us with making a decision with our soup base. Jasmine was at the cashier and she was very helpful and friendly and made the experience at Mala Town so much better and welcoming! Can't wait to be back!!!

Ask the Community - Mala Town

Is there gluten free options?

Are there VEGGIE Broth options?

Yes. They have a tomato broth option which is sweet I believe.

As someone with a severe shellfish allergy, is there any shellfish mixed into the broth choices?

Hi, We cook each bowl with separate pot and for the broth , no shellfish mixed. Thanks

Do you have to pay for the other ingredients or you only have to pay 15$ only?

It’s weight by pound. 14.99/ibs for all ingredients

Do you have to select type of noodles and are the noodles weighed too?

You select for a wide variety of different toppings, veggies, proteins, and noodles before everything is weighed together. Then you select your broth and enjoy. You can even order rice on the side if you prefer that instead of noodles.

Do they offer rice?

Yes: they do

The menu is very reasonably priced, with generous selections and excellent value. We ordered the crispy beef, and it was absolutely fantastic--crispy, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The hot and sour soup was beyond belief, packed with flavor and easily one of the highlights of our meal. We also shared the vegetable fried rice, which was amazing. My wife normally doesn't enjoy Chinese food nearly as much as I do, but even she couldn't stop raving about how delicious the fried rice was. That alone says a lot! Overall, we had a wonderful experience: excellent food, affordable prices, a great neighborhood Chinatown atmosphere, and fantastic service. For anyone in Las Vegas who loves great Chinese food, I would absolutely recommend giving China Mama a try before looking elsewhere. Thank you to the entire team. We will definitely be back!

Our hopes were dashed when we discovered this is an over-hyped over-priced place that charges $1.50 extra for a skimpy single little bowl of white rice with their entrees. Server was very disinterested and not conversational, all business and rushed. A different server helped us each time, none more pleasant than the first. They are very busy and take no time for social niceties. We elected not to order drinks although they do have sake. Entree choices were Kung Pao Chicken ($18) and Stir fried Green beans ($16) add chicken ($5). The Kung Pao Chicken was acceptable, a traditional preparation but with very few veggies. The sauce was a bit sweet and appropriately spicy. The stir fried green beans were dry and bland with zero sauce. The sauteed chicken was cut in tiny pieces and over browned and dry like the green beans. I order this dish frequently in other Chinese restaurants, and find most chefs put a little sauce on at the end for flavor and texture. That is not the case here. Bland, naked and dry. So disappointing , we drove twenty minutes to try this place based on the reviews. Writing today to warn others all is not as it seems. Maybe you will have better luck than we did at China Mama on Jones.

For a large group of 20 they were able to accommodate everyone at a large central table and staff was incredible getting to everyone and their needs plus bringing all the ordered items out in a reasonable amount of time. The prices were quite reasonable and I hope that I'll be able to try it again when I'm in town. I also have to point out that SAN is so unassuming being in a strip mall off of busy street, but it's large and spacious inside with a great vibe. While waiting, you can actually watch the cooks through a glass window, making the noodle noodles from scratch in the kitchen. I loved this and think it's amazing! I felt like I was in museum! I ordered their spicy beef noodle soup, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The broth was rich, flavorful, and had a serious kick to it. Spicy enough to make you question your decisions for a moment, but delicious enough to keep going back for another bite. One of the coolest parts of the experience was watching the staff make the noodles fresh right near the bar. There's something satisfying about watching someone put that much effort into your food while you're just sitting there, hungry and contributing absolutely nothing to the process. The restaurant itself was clean, had a nice view of the noodle making station, and the overall atmosphere was comfortable. Service was prompt and friendly, with staff checking in periodically without making us feel like we were being interviewed about our dining experience. Now, let's talk about the portions. I'm a 220 pound grown man who takes eating pretty seriously. And even I had to reconsider my life choices when I saw how much food arrived. Seriously, the portions are GENEROUS. Think carefully before ordering multiple dishes unless you're bringing a small army or planning tomorrow's lunch. Overall, fantastic noodles, flavorful broth, attentive service, and portions that clearly don't believe in moderation. My advice? Come hungry, enjoy watching the noodles being made, and don't let your eyes order more than your stomach can negotiate. Would I come back? Absolutely. But next time, I'm bringing a bigger appetite. Or a bigger friend.

Now just a regular, mediocre Chinese restaurant…read more When it first opened, it was all about the authentic Peking Duck and it was amazing. We thought we finally found our Peking Duck place. We had to pre order the duck sometimes to make sure we got one. Over time, I noticed the menu changes and now, the standalone whole Peking Duck (which comes with soup and either Duck fried rice or deep fried duck bones) was de-emphasized. Now, it's not even on the menu anymore (but you can still order it). However, the staff is no longer trained to carve the duck. They carve it so that half the skin and meat are left on the bone. The slices are presented in a flower-shaped circle, looks great, but the amount of sliced duck with skin is now 1/2 of what we used to get. It doesn't even fill a plate. The slicing is also thick and uneven. Worst, because the staff is not skilled, they don't know how to slice off just the crispy skin. So we got a whole Peking Duck with no pieces of just duck skin, that's the main attraction! The duck soup was seasoned with some kind of strong jalapeno pepper (not Chinese flavor), there were no duck bone or meat in it and flavor was not balanced. We also ordered the stirfry wood ear mushrooms with peas and yam. It was absolutely flavorless, there were like 6 pieces of mushroom and the yams were cut so haphazardly and unevenly sized, like a kid chopped it up. I noticed most of the the diners are not Asian and popular items are fried rice and what looks like either sweet and sour pork or orange chicken. Add to that, the service was equally haphazard. Restaurant had 4-5 tables seated but our waitress said the kitchen was busy and our food would be delayed. Then, they completely forgot about one of our dishes. Just so disappointed. For us, this is the last time, we will not be back.
