Rented two cruiser bikes for 3 days and jet skis for 30 min. Prices are very reasonable and can't say enough good things about the customer service. Everyone that works here is extremely friendly and made the experience awesome. The jet skis were a blast, 30 min was the perfect amount of time. They were decently fast. I got up to around 45 and couldn't get it to go any faster. The riding area is fairly large, just have to stay in sight of the hotel, which gives you plenty of riding space. While we were out there was a group of four dolphins swimming around which was a nice surprise. Just be aware that Florida requires all drivers to have a boaters license. If you don't have one they will provide a book to study and then you can take a 25 question test and obtain a temp license. The test is not difficult and they give you a few tries to pass it. Literally just got back from trying to book 2 jet skis for my wife and 2 kids. The owner swiped our credit card on 6/20/19 at 11:11am and asked us to wait fo the next one. At 11:35am there were no Jet skis in sight for us to take over so I went back to him and asked approximately how much longer for the next one. He stated 20 mins. At 12:05pm I went back to him as there still were none in sight coming back and he literally said, "Would you like your money back?!" ... I mean who in their right mind runs a business like this?? After waiting one hour he wants to just give us money back so we can leave instead of simply assuring us it's on it's way! Very rude, very condescending, they're clearly running a racket. Definitely recommend this place to rent jetski's We did have a small issue with our time slot, as they "forgot" about us and we ended up waiting an hour after our time slot to ride. We were fine with it as we were staying at the Resort and could hang out in the pool area. Make sure you sign up at the actual kiosk, so you get the $10 off. I spent the weekend in Clearwater, FL 6/19-6/22. I have always wanted to go water jet skiing and I never imagined that my first time would be in such a beautiful place on the Gulf. The entire staff was helpful in answering all my questions via phone. I was able to secure my rental and boat certification easy online. Although there were some steps I had to take before I got out on the water, all of it was worth it! I was provided an excellent overview of what to expect for my (1) hour rental then I was ready to go! I never capped or tipped on the water. I was nervous at first but once I got use to it, I rode those waves like a champ. I rode like I've been riding for years. The staff is amazing as I mentioned, the equipment is in excellent condition, the location is easy to find and their choice of Excursions are cost effective! Our families first time jet skiing and had a real bad experience with Makin Waves... 1) we were told they open at 9 and we should show up early we showed up at 845 and didn't get on skis til 1005 and we were first in line. 2) my 11 yr old didn't like it after 5 mins and wife and her returned and they offered no discount. Don't go here! We were told there was a $10 discount before 12 and never received that...very dissatisfied. We rented the skis for 1 hour I would think only using them for 5 mins they could at least charge us the 1/2 hour price...I'm pretty sure they're gonna use the skis right away not wait til the time is up. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! 1) they charge more than anywhere in the area 2) Rude rude rude. We showed up about noon to see if we could get a jet ski rental anytime that day for just an hour and were told they were all booked and could hang around till 4:30 and maybe they could squeeze us in. We had nothing else to do so decided to hang at the beach. A couple hours later I see many other people walking up and getting jet skis. I check online and they indeed have tons of openings online. Being more of a people person I approach the tent. A man in front of me is being helped with a smile, the worker is helping him cheat on his boaters test, laughing together, but ultimately the man decided to not rent a jet ski. The worker: "oh we can get you one right now, we will hold it for 30 minutes while you wait for your son." The customer still says no thanks and now it's my turn. I bring up how they have openings online and if I can possibly get a ride today. The man is immediately as rude as can be for no reason. Telling me they have zero availability. Again I bring up how online says different, and also look at the man who was just told they had plenty of jet skis for him but apparently none for me 20 seconds later? The worker reiterated even though online says they had availability, they actually don't. Trying to figure out how this can benefit their business in any way is racking my brain. Ultimately I walked away fuming mad with steam coming out of my ears. Only positive is I never ended up giving these slime balls a penny of my money. Day ruiner on vacation. read more

Terrible service. Poor communication. We waited two hours for jet skis and even went to the desk to make sure there were no additional tasks to complete before our scheduled slot. We were told that we were ready to ride them at our slotted time. When the time comes we go to the front desk and have additional documents to sign. We were also told we needed a boating license which would accrue an additional fee that we were not notified of when we asked. The team members at the front desk did not know the answers to our questions and had to ask supportive staff questions who also seemed confused. The team member stated "this is an issue that happens all of the time, it's really confusing" when we asked why we weren't notified of this when we came to complete any additional documents previously. We completed the additional documents and paid the fees. We were told that we have to wait an additional hour after this due to booking, though our reservation was made almost three hours prior. Everyone here is clueless and they provided absolute zero service recovery. This is not something I would do again. read more

Matt was GREAT! the building is a little hard to find. look for the holiday inn, and then this place is nearly right behind it. we signed up for para-sailing, and it was a blast! they offer several different heights for para-sailing. we choose the highest, 1,000ft. they do offer a discount if you go before noon. they take about 8-10 people on the boat, and then let each person go up for about 10-15 minutes. YOU WILL GET WET, so don't bring you cell phone or other water sensitive items. the sail is big enough for two people, and they might have someone else ride with you if you weigh under ~150lbs. read more

Wow! Dave and staff have a fantastic outfit!! We rented waverunners for a half hour along with an umbrella and chairs RIGHT on the beach. FANTASTIC!! Waverunners are brand new and awesome. The water was perfect we had an absolute blast. Then we came back to the beach and had an umbrella and chairs waiting. It was heaven! Dave is very cool and his prices are extremely reasonable. They have waverunners, kayaks, paddleboards, parasailing, lockers for your stuff - pretty much everything. It is located at Sheridan's and after your ride you can chillax to live music and plenty of cocktails and food. What could be better??!! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

Guy scammed us, told me we needed to get boaters license and pay online. So we did both those things to back up too tent for him to make us blow in a breathalyzer. We had to blow a 0.00. My boyfriend blew 0.05. I understand the rules and why they are inforced but when when you're renting jet skis on a beach at a bar to younger people, you should probably mention the breathalyzer before making us get a boaters license and give them payment. So we didn't get to ride jet skis but we did pay for them. The part that We agree to online that says we have to blow a 0.00 also talks about the no refund. Who's going to read the entire agreement page? Couldn't see because of the sun and also just wanted to get the test done and pay so we could have a good time. read more

The skis are always cutting out when ur riding due to the safety program in bord witch leads to u stuck in the middle of the channel with big boats and ur speed is limited to 5mph but wait theres more they top out arround 30-35 mph. I rented Jet skis and beach chairs from them the entire Memorial Day weekend. The staff was always kind, intelligent, and always had a good attitude. The jet ski rental process was smooth as hell, even with the orientation, they got me out on the water real quick. For first timers, they will take time with you and answer any questions to make sure you feel confident to get out there and just have fun! I actually had forgotten to take back my credit card which was on hold for the jet ski rental, and flew back to Seattle before realizing it. I gave them a quick call and they were more than willing to send it back through the mail, no problem at all. That avoids me having to reissue a new card and change dozens of online accounts. :P Thanks guys! The staff's courtesy and professionalism are top notch! Nice fellows.... Rented skis for few hours. Bit tricky to find as they are on beach behind Shepards hotel. The hotel security may stop you if your not a guest of hotel and staying at another hotel down street like us... But once we told the security officer he was nice and directed us.
