Vacationing in Clearwater and picked up a cheap Nike that needed attention. The young woman at Frenchy outfitters hooked me up with air in the Tire and gave me an alien wrench for the handlebars. Pleasant as could be. Later, I returned to select some Fishing line but didn't need what was on display. The young woman and man said take the broken reel, it has lots of line on it. Just use that. I have always wanted to try paddleboarding so I bought a gift certificate during a charity silent auction for Clearwater Paddle. I chose to go on the Monday after the 4th of July because I figured it would be less busy as would the intercoastal and it was. I would recommend beginners try to do the same because you won't have to worry about boat traffic as much. Also, the intercoastal tends to be more calm and it is easier to stand up when the water is smooth. I called in advance to reserve my board, and when I got there, they allowed me to leave my beach bag in the office. You can take your sunscreen, shoes and water and a towel with you because there is a box at the dock but if you want to leave your phone and keys (or other valuables) someplace safer I would leave it with them at the store. The owner walked me out to the dock and gave me a thorough lesson on how to get up, paddle and get back on if I do fall (I didn't fall.) He also suggested going over to the cove near the aquarium because it is even calmer. I was able to get up on my first try, and paddle over to the cove, paddle around, see a dolphin, and paddle back. I had to sit down a couple times because my toes got numb and to take a sip of water. On my way back across the intercoastal, the wind and waves and current picked up so it was a little more challenging but not enough to sway me from coming back! As someone who kayaks, I see each as having pros and if you are someone who has kayaked before, it won't be too difficult. And if you would prefer to kayak, they rent those too. read more

As part of our Orlando vacation, we decided to stop by Clearwater Beach and were looking for some fun adventures that were a bit more engaging than sitting on the beach the whole day! So were decided to rent paddleboards, and found this nifty little place very close to the beach. We were greeted very warmly by the store employees, and one of them, a super friendly lady, was our "instructor" for the day. She led us to the water with our paddleboards, and showed us the basics of paddleboarding. Her instructions were very thorough and helpful (we've paddleboarded before but I still felt pretty shaky at the start, so she definitely gave me a boost of confidence). Once I got started, it was really easy and fun - quite relaxing, really. We explored the Mandalay Channel, paddleboarding to the other side to the marinas and the piers where birds were hunting fish near the docks. We also paddleboarded to the area near the Clearwater Memorial Bridge and found many mussels and oysters (?). And at times we decided to take a break, so we sat down and relaxed on our paddleboards. I even decided to jump into the water for a quick soak! Overall, we had a great time, and will definitely recommend this place. 5 stars all the way! read more

They offer a free instructional class which we found so useful because we had never been out. Location along water is great too with lots of places to take the paddle board. Found this place on yelp as I knew I wanted to try paddle boarding while on vacation. Derrick was so friendly and informative during our visit. It was our first time paddle boarding and he made it easy and we felt confident after his tutorial. Reasonable price!! They charged us for 1 hour each initially, and then said they could bill for an additional hour afterwards if we decided to stay out on the water longer. We were interested in buying a paddle board ourselves afterwards, and Derrick gave us great information without pushing us to buy too hard. Highly recommend! read more

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! I had the opportunity to rent paddleboards twice from these wonderful people. The place is a 2 min walk from the beach and they have these really handy rollers that you can use to transport your paddle boards to the beach. There's probably another water body somewhere nearby that is more calm, but Chris encouraged me to go the sea as the water was not choppy that day; I did, and had a blast! (A word of advice, make sure you take a towel or something with you to wipe your salty hands clean so that your hands are not slippery when transporting the SUP back.) The first time I went, Chris let me return the SUP 15 min beyond their official close time of 5 pm. He had Angel come over and take over as he had to leave for the airport. So nice of both of them to accommodate my unpunctual behavior lol! (Sorry!). I wanted to go the next day but it was so nice of Chris to call me proactively and tell me that the water was quite rough that day (I had told Angel the previous day that I'll be returning). I did manage to go the day thereafter and as usual, had a blast on the water. Highly highly recommended for proximity to the ocean and for their exceptional customer service :). Was here with the fam when we realized the Florida sun is merciless! We did a quick search and decided to rent out a cart from CBP. We used it literally EVERY DAY! It was a lifesaver and economical. It was about I think $60.00 for a cart (for a week) that came with a cooler, 2 chairs and an umbrella. First off it all fit on/in the cart so you don't look like a hot mess trying to haul chairs on your back and an umbrella under your arm pit. It's all in the mobile cart that doesn't take up a lot of space and is easy to maneuver. Clearwater Beach Paddleboard was the highlight of my trip. The staff is so knowledgeable. They gave me various routes to take depending on what the wind was up to that day, and whether I wanted to kayak or paddle. They have a floating dock on the intracostal, so it was super easy to launch. Had we wanted to go out gulfside, they provide transportation. Travis (cool name, hehe) was super amicable and told us about the caladesi island mangrove trails, which were awesome!!! We made it up to the caladesi marina and grabbed lunch and hit the beach where we saw baby dolphins and a manatee!!!! read more

Best place to rent fishing rods for the day for a low price, and they are pretty friendly!

We can't say enough positive things about Clearwater Paddleboard. Rented two tandem kayaks for four people. First they guided us to select the best day to go out-- not too much wind or chop. They encouraged us to call each morning to help select the best day for our adventure. Travis worked to get us launched and gave excellent directions for favorable paddling. And what an adventure! We paddled about 3 hours total. First sighting was a manatee swimming in the back channels. When we got to more open water dolphins were frolicking and jumping together. Another pod of dolphins followed along for part of the trip. What an amazing day. read more
