Meals are basic, cheap (around the $8 mark) and done well. It's quick and you can always find a seat. Maki Maki hides in the Gawler Arcade adjacent to RAWspace and around the corner from the centre of Rundle Mall.
I've been here twice. This time I had a Salmon and Chicken Teriyaki bento box. It was simple, to a fault, but my disappointment in the lack of elaborateness melted away with the fresh tasting salmon sashimi. The teriyaki sauce was a cut above, well balanced and a little mayo (I don't normally like mayo) added some tang. The teriyaki and other hot food components are retrieved from the hot food display at the counter. Disenchanting, but it still tastes fine.
Relaxed, clean, franchisable interior with white walls and a polished logo. Cheap prices and out of sight from the hordes (for now). I'll be back. Someone was playing the flute during my lunch!
Lots of sushi available too. read more
