Within minutes of arriving in any given location I will orient myself primarily through the immediate location of a) good sushi and b) good coffee.
I have an internal GPS to track down these two essentials, as if by instinct. It's a skill: I'm like the Bear Grylls of sushi/ coffee. Except without the idiocy or the nature skills. On second thoughts, I'm not like Bear Grylls at all.
Ridiculous intros aside, when in Semaphore, Swish Sushi on Semaphore Road easily takes the prize for a) good sushi. OK, OK: so there's not much/ any competition it's true, BUT, that's not to say Swish Sushi isn't actually good. Because they are. The sushi rolls are fresh and tasty, especially the teriyaki chicken and raw salmon. My only word of warning: go early, as the selection (especially later in the afternoon) can sometimes be pretty poor.
The place itself is cute and fresh, with lots of Japanese red and decor in the minimal space, as well as the option of eating al fresco. As well as its namesake dish, the menu also offers hot Japanese meals, but I confess that I've never been tempted beyond their solid selection of sushi. read more
