Ah Sushi Train Unley how I want to love you more but my heart has fallen from your sister (store)…read moreas she has been more honorable to me than you. Unfortunately despite choo-choo choosing this place as my preferred sushi hang out when I'm in the neighbourhood, I can't quite go past the lower standard of performance this sushi train has compared to my Gouger St favourite. Yes I do play favourites children. The go-withouts that have made me reach my star rating: - They don't do clam sushi and that is my partner's favourite - I went in one Saturday night at peak service period and they only had raw salmon available. Things get a bit boring when you have salmon sashimi, salmon nori, salmon sushi rolls... you get where I'm going - The service is a bit slower here than most I won't give up on you though Sushi Train as you are the master of consistently fresh sushi across Adelaide and I love that in a franchise. I just wish you were a little more like your sister...

Now be prepared to wait a little while for a booth or a spot around the train. This place was…read moresooooo busy but in a good way! We probably waited about 15-20 minutes before we got our spot. Plenty of options available on the train but the staff were attentive in asking if we wanted to order off the menu. When we did order off the menu food was quick to come out, except once we had to remind them... The chefs even kept asking if we wanted to order more. This is a cheap night out and a really tasty dinner.

Haru no more sushi. I didn't have a great experience here I'm afraid. I ordered tuna and teriyaki…read moreand chicken avocado sushi, and found it literally hard to swallow. The rice was gluggy and some bits quite hard, and it kept jamming in my throat. The actual filling was also a bit stale and there was no sauce on anything, just the basic ingredients. I finished a whole water bottle trying to wash the stuff down which was unfortunate because I'm stingy and refuse to buy water in shops, preferring to stubbornly suffer until I can get home and refill my bottle. The store location is right smack in the mezzanine of North Adelaide Village, so you can sit and ponder the shoppers passing you by while you nosh. They have a good amount of wooden benches and Ottomans to lounge on as well. One more positive, the sushi wasn't too fishy and overpowering, and had a very subtle smell. Not too sea-weedy: Haru positive. Sticks in throat and parches tongue: Haru negative.

As it is one of my favourite foods, I am quite particular about my sushi. Haru used to make sushi that had delicate but generous fillings, moist rice and less of an odour. The last few times I've been here though, I've been disappointed by the decline in quality. I had the spicy tuna roll and prawn tempura roll. The first thing I noticed was the miniature sized portions. There was hardly any sushi in my hand! The prawn tempura was okay, although if I knew it was going to be bite-sized I would have ordered ten, or not even bothered at all. The way in which they were displayed made them seem so much bigger in size. If not huge, then at least a normal size. I wasn't thrilled by the spicy tuna though. It was small, didn't have enough tuna in it, rice was undercooked, and the seaweed tasted stale. On the up side, the staff were very friendly. Friendly staff go a long way with me. Three stars.

I have to admit I'm a huge sushi fan. It took me a while to get there, but once I did I was hooked…read moreand I've never looked back. That being said I am yet to have the guts to try anything raw, so I stick the basics. Chicken, Vegetables, Tuna... just to be on the safe side. Cherry Blossom also offers hot foods and are available to cater for a dinner party you may have in the future. Cherry Blossom have yet to disappoint me. The sushi is absolutely beautiful and are always fresh and cold. It may seem weird to want your sushi cold but have you ever ordered sushi only to find it be hot? It's kind of disgusting. Sushi can be a tricky thing to buy (sure it's easy to pick and point) but if you're like me (let's hope not), then you're always going to be thinking in the back of your mind if it's safe or not to eat, especially if you eat raw fish. Fortunately I don't, but I still worry about the health issues that are behind it. You never have to worry about this when it comes to Cherry Blossom. In fact sometimes they look too good to eat! They don't skimp on the fillings either which is always a huge plus in my books. Who wants to pay for sushi only to find it's full of rice and one slice of cucumber? No thank-you. Next time you're at Fulham I highly recommend you visiting Cherry Blossom. Reasonable prices, always fresh and full of flavour. I suggest trying the pumpkin and chicken satay. Absolutely delicious!

There are quite a few Sushi Trains in Adelaide now, and if you are a customer of theirs you will know that some are better than others. I have also found that some of their menus differ as well. So what you might find in one store, you might not find in another. As for this Sushi Train, well I am happy I live close to it. This is probably the freshest sushi I have had through the franchise. The sashimi fish is a great colour, texture and smell. The sushi variety is great. They get really busy in the afternoons, so that means that they turn over their stock quickly. Salmon Amburi was great and so was the miso. The service here is very friendly and fast. So, if you want to order something from the menu be sure to ask! You will not need to wait long. Be sure to remember that Sushi Train is not complicated high quality sushi. More like simple, quick and easy! But always tasty!
