Handmade raw salmon roll and tuna roll

Sushi on Port Rd is a rare find. Spend an afternoon in Welland Shopping Centre and you'll spot some rare finds too. Luckily I have been able to do both. After rushing around the Port suburbs one day I realised I had to eat, but sushi was not on my radar as something I could get in this area as a healthy, served on the run and high quality lunch item. Well Yelp saved the day again. Walking into their very sophisticated black walled room with down lighting and clean booths I almost I forgot I was in Welland Plaza. I sat down for a couple of hand rolls and some sashimi and was impressed by the quality of the fish and freshness of products served (well done Sushi Train for consistently good food). I don't know why this is the only Sushi Train in Adelaide that has an iPad ordering system, bravo for technology! It would also appear to have some kind of mechanism that filters out the clientele of Welland Plaza - that's too advanced for me to even understand.

Love, love, love sushi and this is a great local addition to the Welland shopping centre. Always busy especially amongst the lunch set ,also open for dinner and very popular for families on the weekends, a very enjoyable and fun place to eat. A huge central island kitchen where the food is prepared and encased with a conveyor belt driven train without the choo, choo going round to service the booth seating adjacent. Adding to the excitement as the tasty morsels are paraded by simply lift off the one or few that take your fancy and eat, the booths are waited on so be sure to order a drink to wash it all down. The desserts are not bad and worth a try. I haven't had a miss yet, it's all tasty. Dishes are priced via the coloured plates your meal is on and there are no surprises how much you will pay as there is a chart on the wall. An interesting quirky thing they do upon you leaving is the centre crew all yell out goodbye in Japanese (so no they're not cursing and swearing at you)! Open seven days a week so there is no need to go cold turkey, get your fix from 11.00am - 9.30pm everyday.

Compared to the Sushi Train in Chinatown, I am starting to prefer this branch more and more each time I visit it. Located just outside the city on Port Raod, the Welland Sushi Train is more spacious and has a calmer less busy atmosphere compared to their CBD counterpart. When you walk in, don't get shocked when the staff their yell out in Japanese to greet you. They are all very friendly and attentive in order to help you find a seat either in a booth or on stools as quickly as possible. In the past, Sushi Train would normally hire primarily Japanese staff however at this Sushi Train I saw for the first time an Australian guy working the counter. He like the rest of the staff was very polite and friendly and was also very tall from what I remember. Anyway, before I digress, for me Sushi Train is a form of healthy fast food. You walk in, you sit down and within the space of a minute so you can set up your tray of soy sauce and wasabi you can start eating. Some of the dishes I will normally get are Sashimi, which is sliced raw salmon and Okonomiyaki, which is a kind of savoury japanese pancake. If the dish you want is not on the train, you can order with the staff who are making the food right in front of you. I go to them quite regularly when I'm in that area and having lunch and they are usually my second choice if i'm not feeling like Yam Cha on that day. There is plenty of parking outside their restaurant (which is another plus as well), so you don't have to drive circles to find parking as what I would normally do in Chinatown. If you're in a rush and have a craving for sushi, head on up to Welland.

Aburi duck with mustard... you have to try this...

Usual rapid polite service... check. Usual great tasting. .. check. Usual great value for money.... check. Yet another location for sushi train checked off my list, and as per usual l am not disappointed. Standout dish tonight was the aburi duck with mustard... so many moans of yum!!!

I think I have now found every sushi train in Adelaide!!

I thought I would check this restaurant out as I love s good sushi train. Unfortunately it did not come up to its ratings on yelp. The food was very standard, there were plates going around that looked like it may have been going around for hours. Raw fish - not a good thing to leave out! The avocado was black on a lot of plates too, and rubbery.. Again a sign of being out way too long. Sorry, just a big turn off. I will go back in a few weeks and see if there are any improvements. 3 stars for standard good and service.

One of the few times I've been cool at a bar was having Lil Chez's pizza delivered to our table in the Wheaty beer garden. It attracted attention. We had a LOT of pizza. More than we could eat and spare slices sat there. For a while. As the night ticked on and people's inhibitions relaxed, hungrys came over. We made friends. Pretty much a thin crust, the base was doughy in an uncooked, Subway cookie kind of way. We shared the 'Tony Special' and 'Vegetarian' both in the 18" 'Party Slice' size, $24 delivered. The quality of ingredients was a cut above and it didn't take long to arrive on a Friday night. They've an impressive range of sizes, the Party Slice is the second largest, which was pretty big.., but the delivery dude was sayin' they do a 'Big Foot' 2' x 1' rectangular pizza that sounds like it might need a muzzle. Good gluten free pizzas available.

Our favourite, go-to pizza is a simple Party with The Lot (plus extra pineapple - Aussie as). There are a lot of gourmet pizzas on the menu which are charmingly named after local suburbs. The Croydon pizza for example has spinach on it, which makes me wonder if that's a nod toward the home gardens in this part of the world ... The garlic bread is large and crispy and drool-worthy, plus there's slabs of ribs which my sons enjoy immensely. Little Chez's was expanded and refurbished a few years ago, turning it into a comfortable family-friendly spot for dining in, too. It's often buzzing with happy families. There's a small outdoor dining area to cater for more customers but, really, that's located in a carpark and I don't see the attraction of dining there when you could take your pizza away :)

You can sit out the back in the courtyard, which is another entrance for all those working on the south side of Port Rd, or sit in the spacious coolness of the interior. All focaccias are $8.80 and come with a generous side of salad. I recommend the chicken, which comes with avocado, pesto and sundried tomato. A classically delicious mix. They have a separate menu for everything else, including standard and hearty lunch bar fare, such as quiches, fish and chips (for under $10!) and some delicious salads (all around the $10 mark). The popularity of this place attests to its value. The food is wholesome and yummy, and very well priced. They also do a great traditional iced coffee with plenty of ice-cream, and their standard coffee is fine - nothing special, but does the trick.
