Joanna is a very talented stylist. I came to her after a particularly bad haircut somewhere else…read moreand she helped to make it look good while growing it out. I usually just ask her to do what she thinks will work best and it looks great after. To top it off, she is funny and has a big heart. She spent an amazing amount of time cutting my cousin's hair while she was in chemo helping to transition to when she would lose it all. She was meticulous and wanted to get it just right. Go see Joanna! You won't regret it.

I'll start by saying that Joanna obviously knows what she is doing and gives an excellent cut,…read moretechnically speaking. My work and schedule have changed and that meant that I needed to find a new stylist. I looked up reviews (she gets rave reviews) and then called and asked specifically if she worked well with curly hair (she said she was comfortable with curly hair) and let her know that my plan was to go from long, curly hair, to a long, curly pixie (short cut). Set the appointment. Got really excited! Arrived 20+ minutes early to have time to get a feel for things and make sure we had time to discuss the cut/plan. I barely had a consultation. Was in and out in less than an hour - super quick for such a major transformation. Ordered some curly cream to pick up the next day, and expressed some concerns about the sides still being really thick. Joanna said she would be available to fix any bits that bothered me. (Totally reasonable for there to be some things to adjust after playing with it - it was a big change.) When I called the next day to make sure I could pick up the curl cream and let her know I needed some adjustments with the bottom layer, she didn't have the curl cream (miscommunication between us) and didn't have an opening to fix my hair for a week. That felt like a long time to walk around frustrated and self-conscious about a transformation cut... but, I took it and worked with the cut. (Which now took more time to style than long, curly hair.) Then, on the morning of the fix appointment, Joanna texted early to say she needed to cancel and offered to reschedule... a week later. I offered to come any time during that day. But, she was double-booked all day. (I was going to be out of town - part of the reason I had really wanted to get it finished and be happy with it, since the events I would be going to were very picture-heavy.) I was so frustrated with her lack of commitment to me, as a customer, and with feeling like I couldn't trust her to take my experience seriously. I didn't take the next appointment offered. (It would have been 2 weeks since the original cut.) And eventually decided to find someone else to "fix" it. Joanna is super nice. I think she is likely very loyal to her longterm clients. Based on my experience, though, if you have curly hair or are looking for a very new "do", I can't suggest her. I never felt like my experience or my hair were her priority. What was a very exciting thing for me turned into something I had to have "fixed" by someone else. (Now, it's too short ... but it's not a blob on the side of my head, so that's cool.) I've paid for two haircuts. (Joanna's was the most expensive cut only + tip I've ever had). And I was too self-conscious to happily pose for pics on a really important day for our family. I really, really hate to leave a non-positive review for anybody. We all have bad days. But, this needed to be handled better and I don't want anyone else to go through it. Hair is a big deal. We need to trust the person messing with it.

She knew exactly what I was talking about when we discussed my cut and she delivered. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to her too. She's super interesting and fun to be around. I'm so looking forward to my next haircut with her.

I expressed that I wanted highlights that resembled more of beige-blonde color. Actually, I used a few strands of my own hair to demonstrate the color I preferred. The stylist acknowledged, and led me to believe this result could be achieved. Despite this, the final result included precisely those warm undertones, which are contrary to what I explicitly requested. Upon expressing my dissatisfaction via text hours after the appointment, the stylist explained why this was the case. She explained how it would take multiple visits to achieve my desired look. Totally understandable. I was not expecting to have the desired results right out the gate. However, I was left with highlights that were nothing close to what was expected. Upon coming back for a second visit one day later, we discussed how my hair can be corrected. The stylist proceeded to use a few foils to lighten me up and the resulting color was far worse. As you can see, I have an array of colors, including goldish-copper and grayish color highlights. I also mentioned to the stylist how the top rear of my head was barely highlighted. She responded by saying something to the effect that this is due to the placement of my hair. This is a response that did not sit right with me. Lastly, my highlights are wide and uneven. If my hair moves a certain way, you can see large areas that were barely touched. Upon arriving home, I was really able to see just how botched up my hair was. This left me extremely upset, as I invested a good amount of money and time into this experience, only to walk away feeling anything but beautiful. To add insult to injury, I also received an uneven haircut. I wish I was making this up. Consider yourself warned!

I have only got services to upkeep my Balayage, so I am prepared to pay. I like that they greet you (a front-desk area with things to purchase), offer you a beverage (champagne or beer), hot coffee, tea, juice or water. At scheduling time, the receptionist was very nice and worked with me to find a time that fits schedules well. I was scheduled with Michaela for a Halo face framing type situation and was greeted very kindly by her and everyone else at the front desk. They offer you water and other beverages there as you arrive. There is also local crafted jewelry in the sitting area to browse. Getting back to hair, Michaela was very personable, funny, nice, and professional. The experience was nice and it feels like you're just chatting with an old friend. Honestly I probably chat too much but the story of my life LOL. They take you back to the hair washing area which is quiet and Serene, ready for relaxation. They also offer you and I mask type essential oil situation where you can pick different scents. After your hair is done washing you get processed and then you go back to your sitting area. It took a little bit to get my hair to the desired look but Michaela and the salon made it very easy to work with and get the results we were hoping for. I appreciate them for being so accommodating and ease of everything. Michaela is a great stylist and I would recommend booking with her anytime! Not only will she make your hair look better but just speaking with her makes your day better too.
