I was really looking forward to having my hair done by Samantha Shavonn Hair Studio after reviewing…read morepictures & videos on Instagram, but now I wish I had seen the last review posted on Yelp before booking a hair appointment with Samantha Shavonn Hair Studio. I don't usually post bad reviews, but these online booking scams must STOP. I booked an appointment on 1/30/2025 to have my hair done on 2/20/2025. I never heard anything from the stylist to confirm my appointment (which is ok) however, the evening before my appointment there was inclement weather, prompting me to try and reach out to the stylist as not to be a no show. Unfortunately, there was no telephone number on the booking site to contact the stylist in order to see if the appointment was still on, so I tried reaching out to the stylist on Instagram a few days before my appointment to confirm but I received no response. Then I finally found a number on Yelp and called it several times the day before my appointment, but no one answered. It wasn't until 8:39am the day of my 10:00am hair appointment that I heard something from Samantha Shavonne referencing rescheduling the appointment for another time/day. (Please see photo of the text thread.) I was more than okay rescheduling the appointment for a later time/day due to the weather and how far I was traveling. Unfortunately, I never received a response from Samantha Shavonne to reschedule. It has now been over a month from the date of my appointment, and I still have not heard anything from her. Confirming her unprofessionalism. Long story short, of course she kept the $20 deposit!! She doesn't even follow her own rules! (See photos from her booking site below) At this point, I consider that money a loss for me, but I hope it's a blessing to her. My only intent for this review is to inform future clients of my experience and hope that this stylist makes a positive professional change when dealing with future clients so that they do not waste their time & money.

I paid for the bombshell blonde package and these were the results that even the owner/stylist, Crystal, states looks like 6-8 weeks of grow out. Additionally you can see a lack of blending, bleeding, and brassiness. All which led me to having corrective services 3 days later. I had one consultation and 3 service appointments at Adrift. As stated previously, while I wasn't fully satisfied with the first two service appointments, I thought they were a result of communication issues. It is not uncommon that results may not be exactly as you hoped, it was only after the results below from my 12/30/25 appointment that it was obviously not a matter of miscommunication and I decided not to return and sought another professional's opinion 3 days later. Based on their shock at the condition of my hair, I privately messaged the salon to provide feedback. I did not ask for a refund. When Crystal responded by saying the pictures were not of her work, I decided to write a review in an attempt to warn others. It's my belief that mistakes happen, but when the person is unwilling to recognize a need for improvement they will likely make the same mistake again. This mistake cost me not only money, but time, stress, and confidence. I received a legal threat from the salon in response to my honest review and even though my review was posted more than 6 months ago she is still updating her response to the review which includes a false accusation of me including misleading pictures. The pictures were taken within an hour of my last appointment at Adrift Hair on 12/30/25. They have not been altered and are a true representation of what my hair looked like as a result of Crystal's work on 12/30/25. Beyond the undesirable hair results, the owner's response to constructive criticism is the reason for my 1 star review.

Received a text from Patricia today, March 22, 2021 asking me to text my name, email and time I would like to come in in which I did. I sent text telling Patricia what hair services I wanted and asked about the cost. Patricia told me that when my hair appointment is scheduled, the system will send a notification which will include cost estimate. She also stated that she cannot do a phone quote on what she doesn't know what she is looking at. I asked Patricia if I come in at 6:00 a.m. will she be finished by 10:00 a.m. as I had an appointment in North Raleigh. She stated yes. I also asked her does she have a cool setting on the blow dryer. Patricia told me "I'm a professional of over 30 years. I don't usually do all this ask and forth texting. I will see you for your appointment where we can discuss your service." I responded to Patricia by stating that "I'm sure you are a professional woman with years of experience. However, I called the shop twice. I also left a voice message that I did not get a response. On Saturday, I went to the shop and called again. That's when you answered the phone. I suggest you take tips on how to be more professional." Patricia then responded back by saying "You know I was coming in on my day off to accommodate you tomorrow. But I think a stylist that is less busy would be a better fit for you. Good luck in your search." From looking at the three reviews from 2017 and 2018, I see why business at this hair salon is very slow. No customers since 2018? Word of advice to Patricia at Your Time Hair Care Salon. Unless you a celebrity stylist, your business is customer-based, you will be more successful if you learn professional etiquette in dealing with potential new customers. I suggest you you learn from this experience because negative word of mouth can be detrimental to your business.
