This is a very very old review (more than 2 years ago) that I never posted…read more I was looking for micro loc installation about 2.5 years ago. I was excited to come here for my consultation. I scheduled online for a consult with 2 strand twists--my everyday style that I DIY at home weekly. Because they want you to come with your hair free of style and product, I washed my hair the night before so she could evaluate my hair for microlocs. I fully expected her to wash again and style with twists. I believe the consultation was $25-35 but of course the 2 stand twists were another $90+. I was completely fine with that as I would be walking out with a style. I pulled up to this long driveway and there were no cars in the driveway. Many of us have experienced this in the past, getting to a locked salon. I really thought this type of experience was in my past. You know... sitting in the car trying to remember if you had the wrong day or time. I expected a higher level of service at a place like this. After 15 minutes a car drove in. I waited until she got out to make sure she was the stylist. When I saw her reach In the car for the laundry basket full of towels, I was reassured. She didn't even look in my direction to give me the familiar head knod to acknowledge me or simply okay me to come in. Like totally ignored me like I was the one that was late. Very awkward...I know she saw me. She drove past me to park closer to the door and this is a huge, private driveway with only our 2 cars. When I walked in she didn't apologize for being late. She verified my name and told me to check in at the kiosk without any further instructions. And then asked me if I had been there before as I struggled to figure out how to work the device. She she showed me how to check in using what looked like an iPad on a stand. Things went well from then onward. She measured my hair and did all the things. I had the quote. I was ready to book and we found a weekend she could install the microlocs. A few days later I got a voicemail from someone (not the stylist) at the salon that said they could not accommodate me and are canceling my appointment. She gave me the name and number of another salon that I could try. Some place in Garner!!! SMH! Really? The place looked legit online but I wasn't going to Garner. This place was already way out the way. No explanation! Nothing! This left a very bad taste in my mouth. I never would have wasted my time or paid for a consultation if they were just gonna cancel like that. And I paid $90+ for a style I could have done at home. Not for you if you're expecting basic respect and reliability! Yes, I liked the twists. But I'm 2 years Locd and happy this place didn't want to service me.

I paid for the bombshell blonde package and these were the results that even the owner/stylist, Crystal, states looks like 6-8 weeks of grow out. Additionally you can see a lack of blending, bleeding, and brassiness. All which led me to having corrective services 3 days later. I had one consultation and 3 service appointments at Adrift. As stated previously, while I wasn't fully satisfied with the first two service appointments, I thought they were a result of communication issues. It is not uncommon that results may not be exactly as you hoped, it was only after the results below from my 12/30/25 appointment that it was obviously not a matter of miscommunication and I decided not to return and sought another professional's opinion 3 days later. Based on their shock at the condition of my hair, I privately messaged the salon to provide feedback. I did not ask for a refund. When Crystal responded by saying the pictures were not of her work, I decided to write a review in an attempt to warn others. It's my belief that mistakes happen, but when the person is unwilling to recognize a need for improvement they will likely make the same mistake again. This mistake cost me not only money, but time, stress, and confidence. I received a legal threat from the salon in response to my honest review and even though my review was posted more than 6 months ago she is still updating her response to the review which includes a false accusation of me including misleading pictures. The pictures were taken within an hour of my last appointment at Adrift Hair on 12/30/25. They have not been altered and are a true representation of what my hair looked like as a result of Crystal's work on 12/30/25. Beyond the undesirable hair results, the owner's response to constructive criticism is the reason for my 1 star review.

I took Ryan's suggestion and made an appointment after getting some stylist recommendations from the DC Salon. I brought my hair color formula with me from Dallas, and Luanna the Raleigh stylist was able to take that and just keep right on going with my hair. Whew! She was able to cover my greys and give me a trim I liked. The salon itself has a cool vibe -- lots of hair stations, a great color mixing area in the back, plus a section up front with various hair products. Parking at this location can be tough depending on what day you come. I'd recommend making an appointment during the week if you're able.
